Criminally underrated band

Justin is the lead singer and he formed this band in HS with his Brother. They have a DVD called Get Back Up that pretty much tells you everything there is to know. He is a recovering addict and an extremely spiritual person who, after seeing what his music did for people, owns that and even carries a certain responsibility towards it

Just stumbled accross you guys. I am a suicide survivor who found Blue October as i was planning my second attemp. Years of Chrinic pain weakened me and my Wife laving finally broke me. I found them literally hours before i was going to do it the "right way". Their music literally saved my life!! God had a plan for me and this band was part of that plan. Im now on my walk with the love of my life and childgood sweetie. Our song is All That We Are and its AMAZING and at the last show we went to the person behind us caught me singing this in my GFs ear as yhe band played it and she recorded it for us, capturing an amazing moment. I think youd both enjoy it.

Justin Furstenfeld is the leader singer of Blue October and the songwriter. As other people have said here he is a recovering drug addict but he also battles severe bipolar disorder. The music of Blue October is heavily informed by Justin's mental health struggles, addiction struggles, personal life, and recovery. The older stuff tends to be darker because thats when his mental health and drug addiction were wreaking havoc on him. Even during that time his music was always like a therapy session for himself and in turn for other people. There is an album dedicated to his messy divorce from his first wife as well which sent him into his final drug spiral before getting clean. Songs i would recommend in chronological order (or as close as i can come) are The Answers, For my Brother, Black Orchid, HRSA, Angel, Schizophrenia, Balance Beam, Razorblade, Chameleon Boy, Quiet Mind, Somebody, Hate Me, Sound of Pulling Heaven Down, Drilled a Wire Through My cheek, 18th floor Balcony, Its Just Me, Weight of the World, Been Down, Picking up Pieces, The End(this is the darkest one and it was written on a dare be warned), Should Be Loved, Blue Skies, The Feel Again(Stay), Any Man In America, The Worry List, For the Love, Sway, Light You Up, Not Broken Anymore, Angels in Everything, Debris, Home, We Know Where you Go, I hope you're happy, Fight for Love, Who Do You Run From, The Weatherman, Where Did You Go (I'm Less of a Man Without You), All That We Are.

May I suggest adding "It's Just Me" to that list. If you owned the original copy of the album Foiled, it was the song that played after the a quiet interlude after the song 18th Floor Balcony

Blue October, Justins words and music saved my life literally. Without them, i wouldnt be here today. Thank God for Blue October. Raw, real, emotional, and truthful.

This song is the battle song for thousands of cancer patients and survivors. Even the ones that are called home listened to this everyday. They never gave up and also knew death isn’t the end.

Blue October is the reason im still alive today...Their song chameleon boy saved my life.

I just subbed. I'm a fan of Tom MacDonald (HANGOVERGANG4LIFE) and now to see Blue October on your channel wow. I found this band thru KZread about 5yrs ago. At that point I hadn't listened to any music for ten years. It was too painful. My youngest son was killed in a tragic ambulance vs bicycle accident in 2007 when he was 13. I first saw the video for HOME by BLUE OCTOBER then I went down the rabbit hole. This song FEAR has helped me and many many others in dark times. The singer (Justin Furstenfeld) says this is one of his favorites because at the time he wrote this he didn't know this side of him existed. He had recently gone through drug rehab and then lived in a halfway house (he was battling addiction to meth and alcohol) and his 2nd little girl Sadie Bell had been born. When he first got clean he was concerned about his ability to still write. There's a very noticeable difference in his music at this time too. Justin writes about what his life is like and what he's going thru good or bad and that's probably the reason so any people gravitate to their music. You should check 2 videos that really show this change the 1st being official video for WORRY LIST. then 2nd FIGHT FOR LOVE Live ft. Blue Reed Furstenfeld 💙

The live stuff is SOOOOO much better. Worry List is one of the best songs. Light you up live 2015 is great.

Definitely do a play list. One of the best rabbit holes to get stuck in!!! They’ve been around for almost 20 years and have 12 studio albums. They have been touring for part two of their newest album Spinning the Truth Around. I definitely recommend checking them out.!!!

I love seeing Christians view on things like this. But at the same time idk I was told that God creates obstacles for us so that we seek him out. So saying that all fear is the enemy I don't believe is right. Because by what I learned growing up God can cause fear just as much as the devil or anyone for that matter It will have almost been a year since I lost my 3 day old daughter. And all people could say was God had a plan but the devil made her sick, I personally don't believe that. I believe God did it and that people who use the devil in that manner just use him as a scapegoat to Justify God's righteousness
