I'm an Army veteran as well. Served from 05-10. Shinedown's music got me through the deployment, the crazy sh(t that happened during it, and my brother (who is also an army vet) almost dying. He was the only survivor from his team during a mission after an IED went off in the room they were in. I had the opportunity to tell Brent (the lead singer) this during a signing, and he took time to really listen and empathize. You could tell. He gave me the longest hug and just that little act of kindness has gotten me through some tough times after I got out. It's hard to explain to those that don't serve what those simple acts can mean, and I'll forever be grateful for that.

Thx 4 sharing that battle bro.. shinedown doing work for the mental health community...guys thank you for your service and dedication to freedom and democracy. In a world full of people who r selfish it's difficult finding the selfless to promote and fellowship life with. There's one group that will be gathered dealing FREEDOM to the oppressed, DEATH to the oppressors, and LOVE & Brotherhood - no matter the environment or weather , using extreme profanity, sarcasm, and competition to create LAUGHTER when DEPRESSION and sadness is becoming our new enemy... the AMERICAN SOLDIER/MARINE (MILITARY SERVICEMEMBERS).. the best and worst day's of my life involved 2003 and 2004 IRAQ .. We must LIVE everyday for those who said I AM WILLING TO GIVE MY LIFE 4 people I don't know. There is no greater love than to lay your life down so others can live. Our battle bros did and every VETERAN I know would have swapped places w them if could have. So they could live. Great channel!!!! KEEP UP THE FIGHT Soldiers.

Their committment to mental health awareness is second to none. Their music helped our family thru some dark times. Our youngest son attempted suicide during covid. And we hid it and never talked about it. Their music and messages let us know we werent alone and everyone is fighting a battle. Someone is always there. You should check out their song, "get up" also

I love Shinedown! They are extremely talented! They do a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man, although not as good as the original but still an amazing cover. Also, their song, How Did You Love is so good as well. I had never heard this one but it's great and very true. This song is a little similar to Distrubed's song A Reason to Fight. Also, a very uplifting song with an important message. I think you would like it. I know we only know each other through this channel but I hope that we can help you in some way. I'm so happy you have your wife and family have your back. It's hard when you don't have support, it's good to know you do.

I work food service at an airport so I see a lot of retired and active service members go through my area. I thank each and every one of them for their service but what I find they appreciate most: a friendly smile, a "Good morning, how are you doing this morning?", and more often than not getting that first cup of coffee on the house. It's not much time that I get to spend with them but I want them to know I see them. I ask their names, I call them by name, I wish them safe travels and a good day. Every so often there is something, some little sign that let's me know, this person needs human contact. I either ask if they could do me a favor and give me a hug because I feel the need for one or if they could just hold my hand because I'm feeling a little shaky. It works, we make a connection and we both feel a little better for it. And you're absolutely correct, sometimes it's just the littlest of things that make the biggest impacts on our days.

Thank you for this... it hit me on so many levels. I'm not military, I was a medic, but that brings its own anguish. Your story hit all the same points I found in it. Who shows up, who walks away, and who's for real... I've seen it a hundred different ways but you touched this 60 year old grandma's heart🥲 (who will be at the October show hellz YEAH). This is what Shinedown does. They show us THEIR truth so we can find our own. Thank you for your service and for sharing your reaction. Knocked me on my ass more than once how similar your reaction to the key phrases are to my own, and for a second, I wasn't alone either. Bless you, thank you, and keep reaching out like this. You're honest, and that honest emotion is a gift.

I don't know if Brent wrote this with his bandmates (Barry, Eric and Zach) in mind, as he has publicly said that they have all gotten each other through their respective struggles and made sure each made it to the next day. If you have not heard "Get Up" off of their "Attention Attention!" album, I highly recommend it.

Thank you for your service. Idk why, but they changed this song. Imo, the album version is much better.

It’s sad that you have to deal with ptsd, what you lived and seen for 🇺🇸to be able to watch this and have a opinion,it’s sad how people disrespect the flag in any way, music is a way of helping 🙏🫡

I can't say I feel like you combat vets but my way of thinking is to honor you guys, the guys that didn't make it back, and their families is to speak up about the war profiteers. It's them that should be taking care of those guys that came back with severe trauma and immediate family. They shouldn't need charities when people are banking from their sacrifice. The government does not care about anything but revenue and the leaders are just real good listeners and yes men. The system everyone loves so much has waged psychological and spiritual warfare on us all. If anyone knows anything about DEW, I'm pretty sure one was used on me. I literally stopped an assassination attempt on Trump and pretty sure he was in office when they attacked me. I've been gang stalked along with my mom. My son and my daughter are both dead now but I can't prove anything. They say they're producing these viruses in labs, so why are we letting them? I still feel bound by my oath and our enemy is right here claiming to be our representatives. Sorry about the rambling but like you, I don't have friends and all I do is sit on this phone trying to get people to stand up for what is right. Nothing but love and gratitude for all our vets and active duty.
