Whitesnake's album Slide it in is amazing in my opinion. But the American mix is the best. There are two versions, a UK mix and American mix, but the American mix has a fatter production and the drums sound sharper and heavier.

Greg forgot to mention John Sykes plays on the U.S. version of Slide It In, which is obviously the album Guilty Of Love comes from. Billy is a brilliant song, from a legend who is John Sykes. Longer live versions are even more fantastic! John, if you are out there reading this, we all hope to see and hear from you very soon! Cuz brother, you are dearly missed! Great reaction Greg, minus the scripted Whitesnake lead-in. Painfully obvious.😏

Hey, the intro wasn't scripted, it was just one of those great coincidences of the universe. The random music each week is basically just me looking at whatever I was listening to the last couple days and then deciding that's the random music for the week. You just happened to catch me listening to Whitesnake, and then we happened to get a John Sykes song. :P

Ok. I have no idea what you’re going to say on this one. I know you’re not much of a BM fan. I really love this song and the lyrics remind me a lot of Phil

Well, you can see he ranked it in S rank. It's been a while, so Greg's odd bias against Blue Murder must have cooled some.😏 You can hear Philip's influence on John in this song for sure. John never though tried to be Phil, nor did he ever try to write like him. Philip is just a big part of him. One of my big problems with BSR, is that it is trying to be something it's not most of the time. Songs like Billy just show the greatness of John Sykes, and how much Philip is indeed a part of him.

The first Blue Murder album has some great tracks on it the other BM albums aren't of the same quality, unfortunately.

The second Blue Murder album(Nothin' But Trouble) is underrated in my humble opinion. Actually, I think someone like Greg may like Nothin' But Trouble overall more than the debut. I'll leave a live version of Save My Love off the Screaming Blue Murder live album(also Dedicated To Philip Lynott) kzread.info/dash/bejne/f3qdrLKygNmqabg.htmlsi=SvQBB_vqCJZGYsmy

What can I say, starting off with one of my favourite Whitesnake songs ever, I remember buying this on single, and its taken from my favourite Whitesnake album Slide It In from 1984. I now think Greg when the Thin Lizzy Thursdays are over, could you possibly consider doing Whitesnake Thursdays? I think Blue Murder at the time was a disappointment to fans of John Sykes, as he does or did have a great voice. For me the album lacked commercial quality, it always sounded like an album to be played late at night in the background, but there was so much potential to the band, it seemed a shame. Billy I think is possibly my favourite track off the album, but it seems to run out of steam during the last minute or so. I think Blue Murder, Dare, 21 Guns, they all tried to carve out a career after the demise of Thin Lizzy, but we're sadly not successful, even the great man himself couldn't achieve success with Grand Slam. I think Thin Lizzy had really big shoes to fill, and nothing lived up to the comparison, and for good reason. Anything after Thin Lizzy related material is basically tribute stuff, so its never going to be polished souvenirs that would be super seeding Phil in terms of success, and in my opinion rightly so. I remember when Snowy White left Thin Lizzy, he went onto to having a number 6 hit single with Bird of Paradise in 1982, but if it wasn't for his status with Thin Lizzy it wouldn't have been a hit at all, but at the time it almost didn't feel right, Snowy having a hit when the band he just left we're about to split up. Strange times they were in 1982/3. Yet another awesome Thin Lizzy Thursday Greg, looking forward to next weeks. 😊

Cheers bud! It's true, the post-Lizzy stuff for the most part can't compete with the band proper. Tis a shame. I probably won't be doing Whitesnake reactions, but if I did, it would be Whitesnake Wednesdays, because alliteration.

Well, I for one really like the Blue Murder album. Not a big fan of the second album. Also not a big fan of John’s solo stuff that I heard. Great guitar player, but not the best song writer IMO. I love both the 21 Guns albums. Outside of covering a TL song, I don’t think they were trying to do anything Thin Lizzyesque. I’m guessing it had a lot to do with the fact that Scott never did much writing

Let's not get too excited here. Being the best Blue Murder song is just being the turd that floated to the top. It's average at best, a bunch of strung together cliches borrowed from somewhere else. When it comes to Thin Lizzy pastiches, the Whitesnake song utterly wipes the floor with this one. Add to that, we've already established I hate the production, and the squealy guitars just give me earache. But judged against the rest of the album this one's definitely a winner.

Wait, you had previously stated that Valley of the Kings is the best song on the debut BM album.🤔 Maybe we should start a segment where Delor chooses his fav song of the week from the debut Blue Murder album.😋
