I had a Blue Mica 87 GTI 16V. Somewhat different seats and the previous model years steering wheel. In the US we got the rectangular headlights instead and I think a bit less horsepower which I assume is emissions or some US requirements. Europe always gets the best of the VW’s. Oh we also got the tear drop wheels.

Wow! I didn’t know that there were that many changes. There are differences in what mainland Europe gets, too. I noticed that the MK3 Golf VR6 is 4-wheel drive and I think it has the 2.9l corrado VR6 engine.

Snowflake nullification statement: (Realize that I don't know anything about you or your channel so please don't be offended by my advice. You may very well know some or all that I'm about to take my time to share as friendly advice.) If the previous guy drained the gas, that means he changed the oil before storage too. Which is very important. Advice. Put a tablespoon or two of oil in each cylinder the day before. Cycle the engine with the fuse pulled for the fuel pump with the spark plugs loose. This lower compression will aid the starter in cranking the engine and moving the lubrication about. Now tighten the spark plugs, put the fuse back for the fuel pump and disconnect the coil. Now cycle the start sequence (just ignition on and off 15sec) 3-5 times after adding 1-5 gallons of oil. Now reconnect the coil. You are ready to attempt starting a (special) car with the utmost care. After successfully starting you should go ahead and swap out all fluids, filters, plugs, cap and rotor. 16v require damn good oil changed often.
