BLUE CRUSH Lacing Explosion! ⚡️ Avoiding An Acrylic Pouring Disaster!

Ойын-сауық

This weeks acrylic pour turned out just fantastic, with a gorgeous Blue, Violet and Crimson by Liquitex and Amsterdam! I’m in love with the lacing on this pour and can’t believe how crisp it came through. The hint of Crimson acrylic gave this piece just a touch of contrast which really helped separate this beautiful Blue!
I thought I may have ruined this piece when the blue and red began to mix into a murky brown, but a little cyan blue saved the day!

Looks really nice Tony. Despite your early misgivings I think the crimson worked fine in the end result. I don't really use much water unless I want a thinner consistency for something like a Dutch pour but I know lots of people do as a matter of course.

I really love the painting turned out. I use deco art paints, I have found that when I need to add water I mix a little floetrol in it.

I really enjoy your frankness in your videos . Crimson is an interesting color to work with . It was the first red I used and I had some things brown out for sure . It worked with my colors at the time but it was good learning that not all reds are equal and colors you typically think mix into other colors don’t depending on if they are warm or cool shades . Re water .. I really was nervous about it for a long time. I turned a big corner on it when I started doing pearl pours which require an incredible amount of water. I definitely learned a ton about brands of paint then ! An alternative I use that I love is “paint easy”. I saw this product on Fammy Anderson’s channel . It is an additive that does something similar to what floetrol does only much much thinner. It is $15 w bottle and I use so little it really lasts . I find it gives my paintings a wonderful smooth finish .

Thanks for the great feedback and kind words, Andrea! 😊 Yes, I love crimson and I’m glad this worked out, but it’s all learning isn’t it? There is so much we can do with additives, water, floetrol, minwax, etc. I think that’s why it’s so much fun, there’s no end to it. I’m also always looking for ways to brighten up the end result of my pours with a nice shine too!

Good turn around on this one!! I'm working on swipes like this too right now. I am having difficulty knowing when to stop adding colours. I think you're on to something, keeping it at 3 or 4. There's just so many options, I can't help myself. Another problem I'm having is with consistency. My paint is too thick I think and am having to overstretch them to get enough paint off so it won't crack. I think I'm going to thin mine out after watching you. Your lacing looks so much better than mine. I've been watching Fiona's Creative Canvas and she has some beautiful swipes.

Thanks again, and yes in the beginning my paint was thick! I’ve tried to really thin it out, and yes Fiona has some really nice pours. She just released a new metallic a couple of days ago!

I’m wondering if you used a chopstick or skewer to wreck it instead of the palette knife which would give you finer lines if it wouldn’t have gotten murky like that? It did turn out, absolutely gorgeous! I missed what do used as a CA

Thanks so much, Kathy! I have used the back of a paint brush for that kind of effect, I decided against it this time is all. I used Amsterdam titanium white, floetrol, a little bit of water, and about 7 drops of penetrol which is an additive made from floetrol. Thank you for watching!

Great advice! Beautiful pour. When you say cell activator have you added something? Or is it just titanium white acrylic paint? Thanks!

Thanks Michelle I appreciate it! I use Amsterdam titanium white 50%, floetrol 25%, water 25%, and penetrol (another additive) at 7 or 8 drops which causes the reaction. The lacing worked so well because I used WAY more paint than normal in the CA!

I’m new to paint pouring. I just hope to get better. Had some success and some bad. Lobe this piece and how you were able to make it into something beautiful. You mentioned you took Olga’s class. Is it for beginners? Paint pouring is a new hobby for me. Would you recommend it? I’ve been watching so many videos.

Thanks so much for watching I appreciate it! Yes even though you’re a learner, I would encourage Molly and Olga’s course. It starts at the basics and works its way up but also a great way to understand how things work. Watching and testing on your own is also a great way to learn!
