Can anyone explain to me the theory behind bars 33-35? I know it's stacking arpeggios but is there any theory behind those choices of arpeggios?

Hi Stephen, it's basically outlining a clear dorian mode sound with triads throughout that mode. First you see a E minor triad (5-3-1) descending, then a whole step lower an D minor triad descending (5-3-1). That's the IIm and Im which you could see as a minor triad pair Em - Dm there. Then he repeats that same traid pair concept but on the fifth and fourth step degree on the Dm dorian mode (V and IVm). This means first an A minor triad (5-3-1) and then a G major triad (5-3-1). Then, to conclude this very nice sequence, he ends with again a first step degree D minor triad (5-3-1) statement, as to say, "here we close the hip sequence with triad pairs with a firm ending". Hope that makes sense. If you like the sound, maybe start trying to fool around with triad pairs in the dorian mode. And especially the triads that have that raised 6th in it, which is that "dorian note" will make it sound pretty hip you'll find. /Jorre

I work on it … it seems easy and it is not. Dexter plays so laid back on a 170/min tempo !
