Blue Bird House (blueprints included)

Thanks so much for stopping by to look at my Cedar Blue Bird House video! This is for a limited run of seven unique live edge aromatic cedar bird houses that I made for my mom and her friend’s birthdays. I’m sure this isn’t the same type of lumber you will be using for your build, so in my video, I will show on screen the all of the dimensions and holes needed to drill in your pieces to complete your very own bird house using a cedar fence picket. This should keep your cost very low, with the price of a 1x6x6 dog ear fence picket priced today(2.20.2022) at $3.74/ea. in the USA at the big orange home improvement store. I really thank every single one of you for all of the awesome comments, compliments, and messages that you send to me. I read and reply to every one of them as soon as I can and am, at times, overwhelmed with joy by the wonderful things that you guys fill my life with. Thank you a million times for your support and encouragement. I’ll keep bringing the good stuff.

I would recommend a 3/4” electrical conduit acting as a pole to mount your bird house on. Simply drive your conduit in to the ground by twisting and applying downward pressure at the same time. You are going to want at least a foot of the conduit in the ground, and maybe a little more. Make sure that it is enough to be able to support the weight of the bird house without falling over. If you have any questions at all about this or any of my other builds, please feel free to reach me on Instagram at C_Love1984. I really enjoy reading and replying to your comments and messages and do so as quickly as I can. I’ll see you, or talk to you, soon.

@James Allan Miller II Hey James, thanks so much! *Challenge Accepted* 🤝 Reach me on Instagram C_Love1984 and we’ll come up with something. I’ll make a video for whatever we come up with and give you a special mention. I’ll send you the blueprints too! I’ve got my next 4 videos lined up already and I only post about once a month, but I’ll see what I can do to work you in there. In order coming up, I’ve got: small (16”x22”x21”) cedar patio tables, new workbench for my extremely tiny apartment, another lawn game to go with the ones I’ve already posted, and a rolling cart for my air compressor and attachments. I appreciate your time and support my brother. Let’s make something!

@Justin Dickinson Thanks Justin, these are called “live edge” and they turned out much better than I anticipated! My mom was super thrilled and two more of these fell in to the gift category with two very extremely happy recipients. I appreciate you sticking around and growing with my channel brother. I’ve got some more pretty awesome stuff on the way. Talk to you again soon my friend.

Would you make a quick video to show how to make the 12 degree angle (and just some details about why, and how you chose 12 degrees)?

@Erin M. Brandt Hey Erin, good morning and Happy Thanksgiving(today is 11.24.2022)! I apologize for the delay in my reply. Thank you for your question and interest. I'm not ready to make a video on this topic at this time, but I'll do the best I can to explain it to you here. I used a plan from an online publication and then modified it for this build. That plan called for the twelve degree angle from back to front on the face and backboards so that the roof top would meet and sit nice and flush with those two boards, and the one side board and door side as well. If you left the tops of the front and back square, that would leave a little gap along the top of the sides of the house, where the roof piece meets the side pieces. Before I even started doing KZread, I spent the money on...what I consider to be...a nice miter saw that you see me using in my videos. I've since purchased, again, what I consider to be a nice table saw as well. These tools make it brainless to find and adjust to and from the desired angles of attack on your timber. In the absence of tools like what I've got, you are going to have to be extremely careful, but you could potentially complete this project with a hand circle saw. If you are determined enough, a hand saw would get it done too. I'll be glad to share the plans with you if you would like. I'd give you the regular "Please feel free to reach me on Instagram realc_love1 and I'll be glad to help you as needed" but you and I are past that. If someone takes the time to read all the way down here, and they don't know already, they are going to find out that I have another video posted on my channel right now of the bed frame that I built you, a complete stranger at the time, at your home in the state that I flew to to make it happen for you. That's pretty cool. I hope I've answered your question Erin. I'll talk to you again soon.
