Just wanted to say that the beetle wasnt able to talk to Jaime outside of the suit till after the big fight due to them not being fully symbiotic . In the last scene of the movie we actually here that type of two way dialogue between them when he isnt in the suit talking to jenny offering a ride

I'm not a latino, but I had a blast with this film. I laughed, I cried, I was shook at how gnarly that suit reveal was. All in all, I really liked this film. My mom marked it as her favorite WB DC movie of all time. It's a good time and it wears its heart on its sleeve. I'd rank it a solid 8.5/10 on the enjoyment scale

Not Latino myself but being from Phoenix, seeing this family and their dynamic felt like home and truly felt like a lot of families I was close with growing up. The heart behind this movie was everything, and I had no idea that WB made the director remove the scenes about Kord Industries driving people out of their homes - we want that Soto Cut!

I wish they advertised this movie more, the screening I went to was sold out but every review I see from the east coast they say the theater was empty. Anyways, as a Latina it was nice to see a Latin family on screen as part of the main story. Also, Don Francisco is German, it was a shocked to me too! one thing i like about the movie is that in the spanish speaking moments of the movie we latinos could tell they were actual latinos. I watched with my mom who does not understand english and is not good remembering actors was pleasantly surprised that an english movie actually fitured latinos so even though it was generic it was nice to see her pride at seeing latinos on screen.

Damian Alcazar's portrayal of Alberto Reyes (the father) really hit home for me. He was so much like my dad. At my lowest point my dad would pop out the motivational speeches. Telling me to not give up y que no me achicopale. I cried so hard during those scenes since I don't live near my parents and heardly see them. Then when Alberto had the heart attack I was just bawling my eyes out. It was like watching my dad on screen. I did not expect this movie to hit so hard. It's like my Black Panther. I don't know if that makes sense.

As a Blck American, I am always happy when PoC and/or marginalized people get to see themselves in the media in a positive light. Representation truly does matter. There really are people who are excellent in tech, machinery, etc, who are dirt poor and due to the systems in place they aren't able to fully use their gifts. Reminds me of a scientist who said that he was less interested in the structure of the brain of Albert Einstein since he knew smarter and better minds wasted away in cotton fields and mines. Thomas Fuller is one who comes first to my mind.

It wasn’t anything crazy new, but I hate seeing all these white reviewers online talkin crap about how they handled hispanic issues and the family stuff. Especially when the videos get crazy racist. You said it, brother. Same here. It is why Carapax’s origin resonated with me. I was 5 years old when I visited Chalchuapa in 1980 - bullets started flying one afternoon and my Mama Juana pulls me into the home to shield me from what was going on outside. All I could hear from behind the shuttered windows was the desperate cries of a lady, “Quike! Quike!”, as she called for her child - a kid I played canicas with.

I apologize, I’m a film student. This film deserves a longer analysis but for a comment this is already hella long. I just think, all things considered, this movie is a really good superhero movie for a time when all other superhero movies require prior knowledge from the audience and are too focused on being hyper-representative of as many social groups as possible. For me, this movie was really fun to watch and genuinely entertaining. I liked that there was an actual bad guy, and I liked that the hero was reluctant. It made it more endearing. When I watched it, Carapax’s backstory at the very end did not feel forced, because throughout the film we got hints that he was not happy with working for Kord. If anything, it was Jenny, that I believe could have been developed more as a character. Her introduction seemed rushed, and I feel like perhaps she could have gotten more of a introduction with Jaime, instead of just showing up and giving him a job. But that was my only concern really. All things considered the characters meshed really well. I think going forward, if DC decides to continue this franchise the way that they are doing it right now, they can get more creative with the plot and lore, all while remaining focused on telling good, fun and entertaining stories For audiences that are burnt out with Marvels “shove it down your throat” style of storytelling.

What probably set it off is me and my brother who I hadn’t seen in years were the only ones in theaters and seeing the dad die,his spirit showing up, and the ending brought back memories when our dad died, losing both childhood homes, and how people who cared about us came to help us during those sad times.
