The Bloom's Taxonomy PowerPoint Point Presentation: www.teacherspayteachers.com/P...
Bloom's Taxonomy Posters: www.teacherspayteachers.com/P...
Bloom's Taxonomy is fully explained in detail for educators across various disciplines. The video answer the question of why should teachers and educators use Blooms Taxonomy in their practice. Next the purpose of Blooms Taxonomy is discussed as well. The purpose of Blooms Taxonomy given is in line with that of Benjamin Bloom. The origins of Bloom's Taxonomy and the history of its revision is summarized as a bit of background knowledge. This outlines the various levels of bloom's taxonomy starting with remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing evaluating and creating. These levels of blooms taxonomy are the revised levels as opposed to the original levels. Teachers can use blooms taxonomy to write and plan lessons. Educators everywhere should have a broad understanding of Blooms Taxonomy. The overall goal of this video is help teachers have a good understanding Blooms taxonomy. Blooms taxonomy is very similar to Webb's Depth of knowledge. Both Blooms and Webbs relate to measuring students cognition. Blooms taxonomy is more frequently used for writing and planning tasks. Webbs depth of knowledge, on the other hand is used to simple evaluate the students thinking process.

Actually, whether teaching lower or higher level classes, the goal is for all to get to evaluation and creation. Remember Bruner's Spiral Curriculum and that all concepts can be taught with integrity at all levels. The difference between higher and lower level classes is not the level that is reached with Bloom's taxonomy, it is the content difficulty that is used to get to all levels, and the depth at which the content is taught. RIght?

The complexity of knowledge is another taxonomy; knowledge taxonomy, which encompasses facts, concepts, principles, and the know hows. This topic I think is specifically talking about the taxonomy of human thinking levels. It refers to what process takes place in the human brain.

When teaching it's best to flip blooms taxonomy and start from the goal of creating. Then working up (down) this flipped pyramid arriving a remembering. When children are challenged to create or to solve a problem they will evaluate what skills and knowledge they need to achieve their creative goals. Then they will begin to analyze their steps to reach their goal and what new concepts and skills they still need. Finally once they apply these skills they will begin to understand how to achieve their goals and finally they will have remembered how to reach their goals and which paths are more productive in getting there.

Does Bloom's Taxonomy have a scientific basis? (Social experiments performed on kids that conclusively demonstrates this model (classification scheme) is a good fit for human learning), or is it just a nice fictional idea educators have latched onto, like learning styles?
