Actually, if I remember correctly, Nirvana played Lithium faster because if you slowed it down, you knew how dark the song was. I think Metallica's Sad But True had a similar treatment: sped up to make less depressing, or slowed down to make less happy. It's not just the pitch, but the tempo. ...Sorry.

Y'all wanna know what hurts? right on 2:35 - 2:59, try to remmember that he is in this dream for who knows how long.. and he has seen many hunters coming and going, and he stayed, happy to get at least one of his fellow hunters out of this place, who keeps him locked, unable to even die.. remember that while hearing the this section and you'll feel hurt for real. He just wanna give you what he can't afford, freedom.

The original higer tone sounds like cuts to listener's heart and your version sounds like a pain that the listener know too well but still aches
