the guy who plays the prison warden used to be a prison warden in real life, at san quentin, his name is Dan Vasquez. He actually did a great job for the role i thought.

That Forgiveness Was everything he needed and got me in tears .
Really felt bad when they betrayed bonafide and killed him off. He seemed like an ok dude. Then I remembered this is supposed to be a real life prison movie and the mentality there is different and you seldom see any of them working together like this if ever.

I don't know, yeah 7 years is pretty bad, but you have to admit what he caused, will be forever.. Don't think some years of punisment sound that bad comparing, and as sort of a lesson.. After all he was taken back by his famly..

the guy who plays the prison warden used to be a prison warden in real life, at san quentin, his name is Dan Vasquez. He actually did a great job for the role i thought.

It's true. They did, after all, film parts of this movie in a real prison, using the real warden and prisoners as extras, which was fitting. Not to mention real prison guards.
I swear i was tearing up....when he was at the grave with his family forgiving him!!!!!!
The same as many here, I love this movie and watched it so many times, but no matter how many times you watch it, that scene when he is forgiven by his family.. Impossible not to geat teary eyes.. That shows what good acting actually is...
wow, after watching this movie several times this is what i have learned. this movie is about having critical thinking skills and being a good strategizers.

Whether in a gang, army, or running a business...life is all about managing your resources! In prison your resources are people, drugs, and commissary primarily.
What really hits me its that it was a white writer that did this movie, not a mexican nor a black. Great job.

Just like the baptism scene in "The Godfather". Miklo and Michael are the same when it comes to settling business during a moment of celebration. But Miklo moving up by taking out the boss was a twist. Michael took out his rivals.

This is the best Chicano movie of all time. You can’t tell me otherwise. The cast of Onda as well as the many Mexican characters in Miklo and Paco’s lives I would consider to be ensemble.
