The area you're staying at looks so desolate, yet so serene and peaceful. In a way, having so much wide-open space makes it easier to see your surroundings and makes it harder for anyone to sneak up on you. Star gazing at night must be amazing out there as well. 🌠🤩

I'll take that over a packed national park any day.

The best thing about being out in the pure quite of nature and away from civilization when you call it a day ready for sleep. I love the sound of my body working & drifting off to the stars in the massive darkness.😎🐕

Be careful out there Sarah!! While the beauty and the solitude can't be beat, there are lots of very strange and sketchy people now days roaming around looking for trouble. Just keep your eyes open, and your powder dry, as my dad used to say!

Good to see you doing well, I live in a rural area, yes I have neighbors but I have one and half acres on corner lot and have my little camp in the back yard, with an old house that keeps me busy and that is my peace of mind and keeps me going on, don`t travel any more, stay home most of the time. So glad you have peace where you are at, you are the coolest and beautiful lady, love ya.

I know the Shea Rd area well. I Jeep and ride my motorcycle all over the Parker area. I hope you get a chance to drive further out Shea Rd to see Planet Ranch and the old ghost town Swansea. I have a home across the river in Big River, for 18 years now, and try to spend as many weekends as I can there.

Yes indeed, many days of this very same thing on BLM land in Nevada. I prefer open country for my campsites. Usually, I love the quiet alone time but every once in a while, a bit of loneliness will creep in. For the most part the solitude is almost euphoric. Good for you!

Just missed you again! Was in Quartzite this past Sat and Sun .. I did the drive up to Nellie E's but was a bit dissapointed that it was closed .. I mean really closed. The road was barricaded. When they say they open at 12:00 they mean it. I was there at 08:00 so turned and went back to Quartzite. Did a bunch of exploring around the town and found tons of mines. I bailed yesterday with all the storm warnings and the like. Got to test out my suspensions mod's on the Trek and all is well there. Took a bunch of pics that I post to FB for my sisters and kids. Your not short .. short is when you have to parachute off a dime! 😄 If your camping on Shea rd then if you head East you'll come upon the Swansea Mine .. pretty complete mine with lots of structures. 🤠

When you are on a rocky area, put your stakes in the holes and lay them flat on the ground and pile rocks on top of them, Long sticks are a better fit because you can add more rocks. Learned that camping on solid rock.

If I were there I would want to go to the peak of one of those mountains to imagine that I was the first person there since Geronimo

I use to think the desert would be kinda a bleak place to live with very little to see, but I now know that the desert has a stark beauty, it's really other worldly. You don't look short Sarah, compared to lil one 🙂

Getting hammered by 27 degrees and wicked winds in Ca Mohave high desert today. I'm still sick after 13 days now after being in hospital for 3 days. On oxygen but extremely exhausted of being sick with what I don't know. It's gonna do more than rain. It's probably gonna snow girl so get prepared for Kansas weather in the desert.😎👍❤🥶

@@judysuprtrkr3423 I use a tent cot. It's elevated off the ground. I just don't want to pull a ground tent in the morning and find out what cozied up under there. And you can't see scorpions in daylight.

@@judysuprtrkr3423 the scorpions feel safe in the dark under the tent or tarp. In morning you roll it up and they may get stuck in it. Next you put it in your vehicle, now potentially a scorpion is in your vehicle, or worse when you unroll tent again they sting your hand or wind up in your tent with you that night. Always use a tarp on ground under tent. Shake tent good before roll up. Peel tarp back carefully being ready for snakes. Shake good to remove any scorpions. Roll tent and tarp up away from the area they were set up, otherwise you may kneel on a scorpion or snake. Be safe.

The stars must look so beautiful there at night.

Looks like a good spot. I prefer out of the way places myself. I 've camped all over, but I have a favorite spot that's relatively local. Very remote, high on a bluff, overlooking a bend in the river. No traffic, no noise. It's always been a good place for me to recharge my own batteries! Take care.

I was getting a little giggle, I saw the BLM and forgot that it meant Bureau of Land Management as well as black lives matter. Just goes to show you where my mind was at the time I guess. Because I believe in Alm. All lives matter. I need to get away, and away from social media. I've been spending way too much time on KZread.
