What I love about the Blink 182 reunion single is it actually addresses everything and has all of them holding up their hands about how we can drift as friends. It’s real life, it’s mature, and it’s absolutely heart-wrenchingly beautiful. It hit me straight in the feels as soon as I heard it- tears in my eyes as I type this. Gorgeous track and so great to see the boys together and Mark back to better health :) Rather than simply being tourists in their own youth, this somehow sails the tightrope between nostalgia and fresh, awesome music. A triumphant return.

I was really impressed by the new Blink song. Blink 182 are great artists and always have been. Their problem is that they started out doing a lot of comedy so most critics refuse to take them seriously, but Travis is a top level drummer and Tom and Mark are extremely good melody writers. Blink have dozens of catchy songs. At a certain point their talent just cannot be denied.

This isn't them praising their band. It's them reconciling the things that came between them, and realizing how pointless those things were in the grand scheme of life.

It has introduced me and showed me how to appreciate music in a different way and much I would not consider listening to before listening to your insight. I’ve been wondering , do you find the analysis you do of various music helpful or a hindrance to your original music and song writing. since on one hand it provides a wide and different perspective, but its possible it can also fixate you on what you heard and go beyond an influence and affect your originality.

Much more than I could’ve expected. It’s honest and doesn’t sound like it was written by committee. It's really interesting how they're calling back so heavily to their biggest emotional songs in Adam's Song, Stay Together for the Kids, Always, and Miss you, but not rehashing them. In particular miss you, you could sing a parts of that song to the instrumentals in this and it would be fairly close. However this is more evolving those sounds and feelings in a way that feels....very genuine. And shows that they've finally gotten to where Tom wanted them to go when he made Angels and Airwaves. A lot of their songs can sort of be about whomever you want, especially the love songs. They're often non specific, this is highly specific to each member of the band. Almost like you're intruding on something a little bit, they opened their hearts to each other and we are almost accidentally seeing it. Also very much had a feel like...Wiz Khalifa's song with Charlie Puth "See You Again", that they didn't want one of them to be gone and the remaining members have to make that song for their lost friend.

They sound healthier. It's missing a lot of pomp that they usually have, but you can tell just how much they've grown. Like no real big dynamic changes, a simpler drum beat introduced half way through; there's not even that bite in the vocals that songs like "I miss you" had. Yet starting early with a keyboard part (in an opposite fashion to Adam's song,) a recontextualized "I miss you" (maybe even a callback to Where are you as well?,) and the lyrics really make for a memorial for the time they missed apart. The video itself feels like their own personal "Hurt," with the obvious callbacks. With time brings understanding it seems. And I'm here for it.

It’s a beautiful song. Thanks for your take on the guitar and singing. Always love hearing your reactions! Btw, you think Travis is really singing? Or is he just mouthing? I’ve heard others say he’s singing too, but it sounds like one of the other guys. I’ve never heard Travis sing, so maybe his voice is similar? But I tend to wonder if he’s not just mouthing the words for the video.

I liked them when they first came out but wasn't a huge fan, my son is 18 and really has gotten into them on his own violation so I took him to see them in Manchester last night... What an amazing show, absolutely non stop sounded fantastic and Travis, dude played his heart out, his hands literally bleeding the new stuff was almost seamless with the classic songs, shoes that if legacy acts write new material for the sake of creating rather than a cash grab it can really work, cit was my son's first gig and definitely one he'll always remember outstanding.

I completely agree with you guys - I’m also proud to love Blink, no shame here! 😀 But I’ve got some mates who don’t think it’s cool to say you like them - clearly they’re wrong - you shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed about any music you like 👍 My favourite bands are actually Metallica and No Use For A Name but I listen to Taylor Swift as well - tis quite a medley!

I'll be honest, I didn't really listent to Blink after their first comeback, I've heard the occasional song but I guess I moved on, but put Take Off Your Pants and Jacket on, or anything I grew up with at school and i'm 14 again. This song had me in tears so I guess they mean more to me than i realised.

The wait for Travis is worth it on the drums, and this is one of Blink182 most heartfelt songs they have written, but your review was amazing, I'm calling it now, we will get a "Blink 182 unplugged symphony style record in the near future".

Love your positivity toward music man, especially the pop punk pocket of music. I’m ordering Tom’s new signature Starcaster TODAY, always wished I made enough money as a kid to buy the Gibson, but of course, children aren’t exactly to rich. It may be a black sheep b-stock guitar, but if anything, I think it will make me love it more.
