You are very lucky having to not gotten spoiled on this. EVERYONE who had been up to date got spoiled because the big moment got LEAKED by accident. I sure hope to hell that doesn't happen for S7. I did like this premiere. Not my fav, but one of Haber's better attempts.

At last, you've made it to S6! Yeah, sleep deprived Shining Armor is pretty funny. BTW, horses sleep while standing up. Little Flurry Heart sure is a big bundle of energy, isn't she(an adorable one at that)? Sunburst should be the next Starswirl since he does excel in magical knowledge.

Horses and ponies are able to sleep standing up because they can lock their knees so that their legs don't give out as they fall asleep. Another advantage of this is the fact that they can react quickly when they sense danger. Horses can't stand up quickly, unlike humans. Horses only lie down when they choose to or when they require REM sleep, which they require very little of.

15:38 - I know I'm probably not the first to interject on this, but note that all Celestia said was '_In_ Equestria.' Celestia and Luna have lived long before the name Equestria was originated. Amy Keating Rogers confirms this in her book "The Journal of the Two Sisters". Celestia and Luna are natural-born alicorns, Cadance and Twilight ascended from being a pegasus and unicorn, respectively.

Oh yes. Flurry Hearts name was revealed long before the premiere, along with a little preview where people could see her for the first time. The fact that she's 70% wings was one of those things the fandom would keep on joking about for a while. Josh Haber is actually the writer of many of the bigger episodes recently. He wrote the S5 finale too. I didn't quite realize this, but if we assume Cadence really was pregnant for 11 months, that means it's been almost a year since the CMC got their marks (And probably many other events in Season 5). Although my theory for now is that it was way less than 11 months because, you know. Magic. There actually is quite a bit of backstory on Celestia and Luna in the form of an actually existing book called The Journal of the two Sisters. You know, just like the thing in Season 4. Although, as far as I know, that book doesn't really explain how they became alicorns (if we really assume they weren't born with it). All this episode said is that that's the first time an alicorn is born in Equestria, and that they don't know how it happened. I mean even Cadence was born a pegasus according to the books.

It is my personal headcannon that Cadance was already pregnant back in S4E25 (using later some ilusion spell to look slim and perfectly normal). The "confidential discussions" Twilight was exempted to know about was a request from Cadance. She disclosed it to Celestia, Luna and that white mare "with a horn, no -flowing- mane at all and clothes covering -her wings- "...); probably looking for "guidance" on alicorn pregnancy; since she and her unicorn husband (both featured in the love potion book of "Hearts and Hooves Day" [S2E17]) may know something about it... If you want a real "problematic aspect" of the MLP:FiM current timeline just look at the baby cakes (Pound & Pumpkin); as those could not have being born less than "one month plus one week" before Twilight became an alicorn [she was present as a unicorn on their first "month-versary"]. They are still "babies" (old newfoals) in an episode POST-CMC-cutiemarks (and the next Hearts Warming Eve!).

Also, they were able to say 1 word each [technically a name] before Twilight was an alicorn... They are a nightmare to write consistenly, because HASBRO will not be eager to lose their "baby ponies" to make them just "a young colt" and a "young filly" [picture S1E01 Applebloom]. If anything, they should already have the same vocabulary than the 1 month old "super prodigious genius foal" *Jackeline "Applejack" Smith Apple* at the flashback of "Apple Family Reunion" [S3E08]: *Baby Applejack:* _"I'm Applejack! More apple fwitter?"_

Argamis (SilverComet) I.. don't remember if it was specifically sad that Applejack was also 1 month old in that flashback, but either way I do see your point. Also I like the theory about Cadence being pregnant longer than what we might assume. Personally, I didn't think they would go and tell Twilight like that on Day 1 anyway, we don't even know how long it took them to find out themselves. And the whole thing with the scavenger hunt was well planned too, so the visit could not have been spontaneous either. Although they did choose an odd day to plan the visit considering they thought they'd be late anyway. In fact the plans they had originally also had something to do with Maretonia didn't they. It was only by luck they could come as early as they did. They must've at least tried to take the earliest opportunity they had to come over.

13:33 Horses can sleep standing up. They only need to lie down to reach REM sleep. But for short naps, they remain standing.

This is easily my favorite of the season premieres. Mostly for Starlight, but Flurry Heart plays a significant part of it.

Remember that Season 5 was called The Season of the Feels? Well, WELCOME TO SEASON 6! Also known as the Season of the Ships. Almost every episode has a ship.

Maybe that is the reason why the "Little Pony" genus tend to sleep in beds (or at least on the ground, as seen in S5E02); because they DO had dreams [they even had a goddess/counselor/bureaucrat/janitor checking them... ]

It's like a TARDIS! It's smaller on the outside! 6:52 Come on everypony, I wanna see those HAPPY smiles! "I thought alicorn wings had to be earned by some princess-worthy deed." I love how Twilight just eagerly nods here. "Yeah! Like _I_ had to do! Why does this newborn get a freebie?" With just a scream it destroyed the entire empire... city... whatever. That baby is a demon spawn. I swear I wasn't involved in its creation! "What about this?" "It has a fancy cover, so it must be it!" It's amazing how utterly contrived the destruction of the book is. They knew they couldn't make it believable, so they made an insanely funny lampshading joke out of it. I like it! He crumbles up the spell of relic reconstitution and throws it away. Twilight's hard work. Thrown away. YES! Eh, Sunburst picked the crystal with the least purity. "Crystal moustache." I just realized how uncomfortable that'd be. The Royal Sisters being born alicorns is still possible. They just said that Equestria never witnessed it. That means they didn't become alicorns _in Equestria._ -Coppergears P.S. You're a wizard, Nathan!

One correction: Sunburst choosed the best crystal. Rarity arranged them "From _incredibly pure_ (left) to *outrageously pure* (right)". Since he uses glasses (just like Rarity to sew), he knows what makes a "crystal" good and how to apreciate it. Also he may had study it on magic school.

Narrator: In the last episode of My Little Pony… Starlight Glimmer was really excited, but also nervous that she was going to be Princess Twilight’s new pupil. Starlight Glimmer: I still can't believe you're letting me stay here... as your pupil. Narrator: Meanwhile, Twilight Sparkle received a letter from her brother, Shining Armor. The letter said that Shining Armor is a father and Twilight is an aunt to a new baby pony. So Starlight’s first friendship lesson was going to be reuniting with her old friend, Sunburst. Twilight Sparkle: Your first friendship lesson is going to be... reuniting with Sunburst! Narrator: When they arrived at the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle was shocked when she discovered that the baby pony is an Alicorn, a pony with both a horn and wings. Twilight Sparkle: The baby is an Alicorn?! Pinkie Pie: So she could be a super-strong flyer AND have crazy baby magic! Narrator: Things were getting a little rough in babysitting the new baby. Yeah, for the pony sisters, I believe Celestia and Luna were both born unicorns (either that or Celestia was a unicorn and Luna was a pegasi) before accomplishing their princess worthy deeds so pretty much they never heard of a Alicorn being born in the years they reigned together in Equestria.

Actually I believe they were born as Alicorns, they said "The birth of an Alicorn is something Equestria has never seen!" From what I would assume, the Princesses were born before Equestria was founded, or at least they were born outside of Equestria.

Celestia and Luna's origins are mysterious, but there is a book called The Journal of the Two Sisters (like the one from season 4) that chronicles Equestria's early days. Still not a lot of info, but one thing is clear: Celestia and Luna were born before Equestria was founded by ponies, so it's still possible they were born as alicorns, just not in Equestria. The only mention of their family is that they were raised and educated by other alicorns. No word on where they might be now.

I like to imagine that Celestia and Luna started out as earth ponies, just because they get a bum rap from the fandom. That and it balances out Twilight's unicornity and Cadence's pegosity.

The CMC have their cutie marks in the opening.

As the screen faded to black at the end, didn't you see a certain creature flying towards the crystal empire?

Twilight's hair began to wave and float when she absorbed all alicorns powers in the Tirek episode, but she covered it up. So it can be achieved for Twilight as well, given enough magic. Maybe in the future. Cadence is a crystal pony so her mane is something different and is impossible to wave. Or maybe wavy hair are the sign of immortality. We still don't know if Celestia and Luna are immortal as they probably predate Equestria. Prepare to get used to our new overlord Starlight! She's indeed taken the role of new Twilight, only better!

This is a good episode. A good introduction to Flurry Heart. A good introduction to Sunburst. A great first episode for Starlight outside of her being evil.

why do I get the feeling that if a new season comes out after season 7, flurry heart will become some form of corrupted princess lol

I think that would be true if it was just what Celestia said, but Luna said it was beyond their understanding. I guess whether or not they were natural alicorns depends on if you take the journal of the two sisters book to be canon.

It is understood to be canon, as the book is called "official chronicles". Still, it being beyond their understanding can also mean that it never happened again since Luna and Celestia were born, whether they were born as alicorns or not. I don't recall the book going into the detail there, just that they have been alicorns for a very long time, even before Equestria exsited.

I just had a concept in my head that somehow fits both ideas: Luna and Celestia were born alicorns, but they weren't born entirely or at all in "the natural way", like either being born through mystical means, or that their parents had to do something for the children to become alicorns, something that isn't possible in Equestria, like bathing in a sacred pool or eat herbs that cannot grow there, or perform a ritual that may be lost, or seek out some kind of "Divine Wise Elders" or somesuch.

Did anypony catch that the pony with the ball cap next to the lady in the chair had a Twilight Sparkle badge/pin on his vest ?

There are plenty of theories involving Celestia and Luna. The one I have is that they were born alicorns, yet don't understand why. Considering Equestria was founded only after their birth, all of the contradictions then vanish into thin air. But then I've also heard another really good argument that they could be from another land where everypony becomes an alicorn at some point in their lives (an alicorn civilization), but nopony was actually ever _born_ as one. Or you could just say they earned their royal appendages like Twily and Cadance, and move on. There are a plethora of ways to interpret their words here. It doesn't have to mean Lauren Faust was wrong.

Personally, I'd have named her Stormageddon, seems much more fitting, but that's just me

I am probably late with this comment, but still, as i remember from Hearths Warming Eve episode, when Equestria was founded, founders already had flag with Celestia and Luna as alicorns. Shouldn't that means that they were born as alicorns, just not in Equestria? So that is Celestia probably had in mind, when she said "The birth of an alicorn is something Equestria has never seen" P.S. Sorry if i wrote something wrong, english isn't my native language :)

I don't think this is unique point of view, but yes, you can :) I've seen many reactions to season 6 premiere and i just don't understand why every reactor think the same way as you when it comes to the birth of Celestia and Luna :) Although it doesn't mean i don't like your opinion

I assume they will have an arrangement to provide with money (or equivalent benefits) to someone of his/her family and/or close friends in case the baby transforms him/her into ashes. Same thing with permanent deafness/blindness (eyes exploding from the shockwaves); either magical surgery/replacement with crystal eyes [a thing from G1 that seems to work]; or a lifetime of free food and asistance with dedicated nurses.

they took down the Friend ship games down i can't watch it again. i don't like it when they take your video down do to copy rights. hope to see your reaction of the video again.

Princess Flurry (I still don't know what to think about her)

Definitively not on of my favorite premiers. I don't know, it felt like a rehash of the S3-premiere, but with Flurry Heart instead of Sombra. Still, I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^ And yes, Starlight is basically the new "S1-S3 Twilight" and I think they did a great job with her. She is a very flawed character with many social anxiety problems and evil/manipulative tendencies, which is great because this gives her a lot of room for development. I would say I've grown to like her even more than Twilight and Sunset because they've become a bit too flawless recently for my taste.

I am not so sure about the "flawwlessness" of Twilight. She was "unsure" and doubted herself about being a good teacher at the end of this episode (not to mention how "Princessy" she was on solving a problem... she was directly to a book instead of thinking around the situation). About Sunset Shimmer: She still has the same "RAGING" she-demon tendencies that may burst "in flames" of "righteousness" if she think the situation calls it for... [the poor Sci-Twi is still traumatized by her "assault" after the motocross incident (it looked almost like a beating without the actual punches)].
