You mentioned the fake-out death of Yamazaki, I just wanted to share that the fake-out death was Sorachi trolling us. The person Sagaru Yamazaki is based on, Yamazaki Susumu, died during the real-life Battle of Toba-Fushimi. Every Gintama fan at the time was sure Yamazaki would die because the real Yamazaki died.

111 is one of the sweetest episodes in all of gintama ❤

Without getting spoilery, the guard dog arc reflects so much on Gin's life. The speeches he had in that arc hit too close to home, I think. Those weren't generic hero lines. He knows what that's like first hand.
