That whole sequence of events with Lucatiel and being an avid fan of drowning really had my shoulders shaking trying not to wake my wife, my dog, my neighbours.. way too funny

Your fancy new Sunset Staff has a high dark damage bonus. If you like hexes, you can increase the staffs dark bonus by having McDuff the blacksmith imbue the staff with a Darknight stone. Standard upgrades to the Sunset Staff require Twinkling Titanite.

Lol, Amber, you were so close to getting those items at the end! There is another illusory wall under where Straid is that you and Emma had explored before, but missed. There are multiple illusory walls in one of the hallways and has some hidden surprises 🙂 There's also a chest that McDuff was sitting on that you can now open since he's moved after you gave him flame!

Also, there is item on the ledge above McDuff, and some hidden things in the watery area before Lost Sinner. And item near the elevator from the ship - You use the elevator from above area, leave quickly and drop on it (If I remember correctly). If done right, you should survive and get those items. For situations like this, I suggest to buy Fall-ring from the cat, it reduces fall damage. Another thing you missed (and know about from your Co-op video) was that magic set - near the well with 3 boom-zombies, down the cage-elevator, in the room with 3 soldier-guards. I am not sure if you missed something in the Wharf, would have to check map for it. Also Bellfry Luna have few hidden things. One is right at the start, 1st floor above NPC, there are few holes in the ground. One of them leads to closed area behind that mountain of bodies. Another missed small area is after Belfry Gargoyles after the Bonfire. Hope it helps, but it might not be everything missed. Good luck.

The Sunset Staff is actually the strongest Hex staff in the game and you can make it even stronger by infusing it with dark. I'm also surprised that you didn't buy another copy of Dark Orb from Straid since it's another ~23 casts. Attuning 2 Dark Orbs and 2 Soul Arrows or Great Soul Arrows should give you more than enough casts to clear areas.

Indeed, it also looks awesome. If you're going to do pyromancy as well, I'd suggest going all hex/pyro with the Sunset Staff and just skip regular sorceries. All the stuff Felkin gives you is a good kit for doing hexes through the entire game, then you just need some rings to be really devastating.

It's even still effective as a long range plinking spell, since the orbs have slight tracking on them such that the innermost three will consistently hit any target you're locked onto, even at long range. It's not _as_ effective at that as a spell dedicated to that role like a soul arrow or dark orb, but it's good enough that eventually on my hexer I just cut dark orb entirely to slot more dark hails.

Dark Hail and Dark Orb straight carried me through my first playthrough...Dark Hail is definitely a boss shredder when you are up close!

Ignoring an important quest objective in order to get a shiny - that’s me in every game I have ever played XD

Yearn is a pretty useful sorcery and it's sold by Carhillion. It's basically a stronger version of an Alluring Skull; just fire off the spell and most common enemies will be drawn to it and be distracted for ~10 seconds. Once they're distracted you can use the AOE Hex Dark Hail (sold by Straid) on the grouped up enemies.

I buy Yearn every time just to use it for Executioner's Chariot and Skeleton lords...It makes things so much easier!

The 'Agape Ring' that absorbs souls in place of the wearer is used in online multiplayer. I believe it's helpful in match-making to control how many souls you have.

another great job exploring. the one main thing i can see that you missed is the hidden wall in the sewer area after you go down the elevator towards the lost sinner. after you fight that big guy at the elevator check the walls on the right side and there should be an illusionary wall and there are useful items for your character build there. Also at your new bonfire with the smith, if you noticed the smith is no longer sitting on a checst he once was. that has some items in it as well.

From Straid's Cell, go down two flights of stairs. To the left of the cage there should be an illusory wall. Inside that room there is a second illusory wall which lets you get on top of the castle walls.

She actually went through the first illusory wall in the last episode, but she may have not have been in her world...I ran around for like an hour straight trying to figure out how to get on that ledge on my first playthrough! I was so mad at myself when I finally found that second illusory wall...

On pyromancy, if you build any caster, they will also be a pyromancer, since fire scales on both int and faith.

Those are nice threads for sure. For a Hexer build like yours, even more dramatic garb with role-appropriate attributes can be found later in the game. You will most likely recognise it when you see it.

there's a zone after a castle that will make you wish you were in blighttown again

God I love the NPCs in this game. Lucatiel is so cool and has the best and most well told story to tell in the series (imo) Felkin is a fun emo friend and Gavlan is hilarious to me every time.

In your previous ds2 video(15:16), Emma and you found an illusory wall, and there is actually a second illusory wall in that room that will lead you to the items you missed.

holy SHIT lucatiel's desire for death is SO funny. Also the chase scene was killing me. Your editing is so understated but effective. Not obtrusive at all, which makes it so funny and never annoying. A lot of other youtubers should take notes from your very tasteful editing. Also, you should totally add Inscryption to your list of games. It's a lot like outer wilds and undertale as an unexpected gem.

In the Lost Bastile there is a secret door you missed behind one of the secret doors. That is my hint.

23:07 Absolutely killed me, brilliant editing as always. Regarding Bonfire Ascetics, use 'em with extreme caution. Super valuable but super dangerous. It'l respawn almost all items close by you to be looted again, but also the boss, if there is one tethered to that specific bonfire. All tethered enemies, the boss included, will permanently have stats equal to the next New Game+ cycle. Some bosses will even drop exclusive rings or boss souls! The Lost Sinner's special NG+ soul gives you an exclusive pyromancy, for example, though not a very good one. Bosses that offer no new drops will still give you their same soul, which is still great if the soul makes multiple items you want, or you fancy dual wielding the same weapon.

Hi, regarding Torches and lighting things in game: You can farm torches from that "zombie with torch" (20:00). He sometimes drops them, and with Victor's stone covenant he is infinite source of them (1 torch drop = 5 minutes of torch time). Possible mild Spoiler: About lighting sconces: I think there is no drawback in the entire game for lighting them (Except one area, but the game will warn you about that and even then it is only in one specific place of that area where you should not use fire. It is aprox 3/4 in-game part location, so long time no fear). Rewards for lighting Sconces: Generally it gives you better visibility in locations like Wharf. Also if you light all certain sconces in areas (usually all in the area, but sometimes only specific ones), you will get NPC invasions for loot, and maybe even some other rewards (not sure, it was long time since I played). But generally it is good to light every sconce you find. Good luck ;)

I love the videos! If you want to know a safe way to deal with bad chests, I have it here but I'll space it out in case you prefer the surprise. I know some actually hate trap chests. If not don't read further!! . . . . . . . Mimics can be found by moving the camera into a chest, the camera will just get closer to you if it's real .. but in all games your camera will go inside of a mimic. The trap chests if you see green smoke, just roll away. White smoke is a bolt shooting chest and you can roll at a slight angle between two arrow directions, OR just hold up a shield.

the only thing you NEED to summon NPCs for is if you want them to give you their items (which are needed for trophies). Their quests continue regardless of whether or not you've summoned them.

They also need to survive the boss encounter. It can be the same boss multiple times if you burn a bonfire ascetic, although I generally wouldn't recommend doing it that way. The Npc summons become very squishy, so you're usually aborting the boss fight multiple times just trying to keep the Npc alive.

I love watching your playthrough! I just have 2 hints/help for the future and it's mostly quality of life. First is that you need to be sure to exhaust all the dialogue of the npcs! Most of them will come to majula. Second , you saw that you can trade boss soul for weapons or magic, i would suggest for you to wait a bit more before trading all of them... They might bring you something else later down the road!

Yes you can master all schools of magic. A hexer someone who mastered sorceries, pyromancies and miracles. All of those are connected to INT and FTH and the DMG scales with those attributes. INT - Sorceries FTH - Miracles INT/FTH - Pyromancies and hexes And many enemys are weak to one kind of those dmg types.

I wouldn't say that hexer is someone who has mastered everything. The stat softcap for hexes is 30/30 INT/FTH and after that hexes won't get a lot more power from stats. But stat softcap for sorceries(INT) is 20 points higher than hexer's INT softcap and same thing goes for miracles.

@@sarahIcommented You can reduce casting requirements to 30 with Simpleton's(these in particular are very fast to obtain) and Skeptic's spices. That way you can cast whatever hexes you want regardless of where you spend your levels after reaching softcap. Affinity is the only hex that doesn't get full damage. Going full 50/50 or beyond isn't realistic unless playing NG+.

@jt263 It seems like she wants to use Sorcery too, so she would need to level Int more for that anyway. And if she does everything, she'll probably end up well over level 150 without farming. Level 160-170ish should end up being enough to hit 60 Int/50 Faith without hampering Vigor/Endurance/Vitality/Attunement too much.

@@sarahIcommented It would definitely be better to not level Faith past 30 if sorcery is more appealing. There's little point being able to do everything if there isn't much of the game left at that point. Going to 50 Faith would just make miracles more viable.

Hexer's Set is the third best set in the game. Jester's Set is 100% the best, due to every piece having a bonus attribute, most of them being super handy. Then Faraam Armor is for fashion souls. I will leave this comment two minutes in to the video before inevitably editing in more later. It's what I do :) Edit: Don't blame Lucatiel for bugging out when you didn't call the boat... I hope you figured out that was a you problem, not a Lucatiel problem. Also her quest reward is AMAZING, especially for a caster. So I don't know if you changed your mind yet, but you should do her quest. Double edit: Funny you mention his voice because Straid is voiced by the same person that voiced the giant snake in Dark Souls 1. Frampt, I think was the name.

You actually got the best staff for hexes so there is no need to use that staff for sorcery's, also you can infuse your staff with darknight stone at the blacksmith to make it even better with hexes.

Can't wait to see at least one bonfire strenghtened with bonfire ascetic. That will be fun. Although with your skill still not a challenge I also very much advertise to use heavy great soul arrow. Hits really hard. Flame swathe is also ok

Great positive vibe coming off you! Whatever you are doing, keep it up. Great edits; fade ins on menus, dramatic music, Ragnarok reference etc. You end up creating some of the most exciting productions! When chaos ensues, your flight instinct is so sharp when you finally catch your breath you realize (or should) your Dark Souls (gaming) skills are damn good. Free aiming soul arrows and chugging Estus (up in the enemy's face) like the pros. Walton has a smart Mommy, for sure. Yes, Straid is one the most intelligent NPC's of this game. Recognize his voice.? Finding McDuff also VERY handy! Very good clean up in the Lost Bastille there at the end. Thanks Amber !

I still don't get why this one is everybody's least favorite of the franchise. I like the extra enemies and surprise ambushes. And as far as fashion souls goes, this one has em all beat, hands down. Nice horns, by the way. Very festive. Happy holidays.
