This is epic! How long did it take you to make this? And for how long you been using Blender?

This scene took about 7 hours to complete. I did my first Blender render in 2004, but that was a one-off. I didn't start using it on a regular basis until 2014.

@@AmortMedia No problem! I also did not know about the rig website. I checked it out today and am going to use it for a Star Wars short film. I really wanted the stormtroopers in the video to move, and the website gives me the ability to do that! I do have a question: Do I have to pay for the use of the website/downloading the rigs? Also, do I need to credit them? Thank you so much!

How did you rig and animate the actual ship landing though?

  • @AmortMedia

It's really not a rig per se. The wings are seperate objects that are parented to the main body of the ship. I had to move the origin point of the wings to match the pivot point so they could hinge properly. Does that answer your question?

@@AmortMedia yeah thanks, I was just wondering if there was a better way to animating rigid robotic/mechanical pieces but that's what I've been doing.

Nice job. Can you make the one ring from Lord of the Rings animated?

There are several "The One Ring" tutorials on KZread already, but if there's anything new I can add, I'll certainly try. If you can be more specific with what you'd like to see, perhaps I can help.

Amort Media Modelling the one ring is no problem. But an animation, where the inscription on the ring isn‘t visible at first and then appears in a fancy way as it did in the first movie. This would be awesome.
