Loop tools and Mira tools is a deadly combination to work with curved topology.

@@ArijanRace To be honest, when i am working on mesh (im pretty new at this) i sometimes mess something up, Even recalculating normals isnt working. Somehow i can not select an edge loop anymore, it just stops (even it looks the edge is going around.) I just can't find the problem with that.. maybe some tutorial on "common mesh errors" :)

You can do it using with inset and loop tools easly. But for complex shapes its a great tutorial. Imagine big organic mesh and part of it detailed. You can simple dublicate and shrink wrap detailed area in same position.

On a UV Sphere... Select a square of 16 faces (4x4). Inset. Looptools/Circle. Total time would be about 10 seconds... if that. You took 5 minutes to get to that point !!! Great shirt.

How do you figure these things out? This is pretty amazing, I have to stop using booleans because, yeah, they make such a mess that can sometimes be time consuming to clean.

interesting, but I guess just inseting the 9 faces and using loop tools for the circle one can give us the same result, it is much easier.

A circle made like that will not follow the curvature of the surface

  • @rekanhussain1252

@@ArijanRace for the circle it is right it doesn't follow the curvature of the shape but in the most cases you can manually adjust it with the curvature of the shape easily however it cannot be 100% correct. but in the rectangular case i the inseted faces follow the curvature nicely.

Why all these videos about topology/retopology are done with cubes and cylinders? Why don't you show something from real examples? There are so many complex and worth solving examples and people on KZread busy fusing cylinders onto cubes...

It's the best way to demonstrate the concept, then it's on you to apply it to your purpose. Otherwise the video would be redundant and too long
