The beauty of open source software is that it puts a time limit and clear value proposition on paid software: *you're paying more, and putting up with license bull, to get it early*. If the sales team is being a pain, invest time in the open alternative instead of money in the company.

@Solid Snake Because it's official release demo, I think it makes sense to showcase the stuff done with final version and that's already in produced ads/media but not demos and test renders by (I know some are great) youtubers. However if the OP wants to see EVERY Blender 2.8 video he could just binge watch a full day worth of videos on KZread itself :)

I still use 3d max however I am integrating blender into our workflow at my office to use EEVEE amazing tool for sure

@Logan Dowell. I feel the same! Maya is my job (do it for money) software. I would love to make Blender my home (do it for joy of creating) software. How are you learning Blender? I'm still feeling a bit stuck as I try to learn to get around Blender - especially character rigging and animation.

Blender is the BEST open source piece of code I have ever used Love to everyone who made blender a better open source software And we are hoping to be a industry standard software user in a few years And it's been a very long journey from a simple code to advanced real-time rendering Hope we all enjoy this journey more and more Love you all Happy Blending☺

Blender is such an anomaly... you don't see GIMP keeping up with Adobe Photoshop, but Blender can definitely create results similar to 3DS or Cinema4D.

The problem that I see about with GIMP and Photoshop is that the industry leans towards to Graphic design and Photography. I see that not too much programmers are attracted or caring less towards on fixing the UI. GIMP already has the basic tools but wonky UI just like Blender was, is they just fix the UI to more sensible manner just like Blender with 2.81 did, im sure it will be fine a competitor with Photoshop, the fact that the new Gimp now has GPU accelerator it actually can compete now. Krita attracted more 3D and 2D artist who tend to have more programmers than artist them selves that is why I see it got more attention just like Blender. Most of the time I see photographers actually does less with Photoshop and do more using Lightroom or something alternative to lightroom, that is why I see photoshop is more for graphic design now a days.

Nope, not happening. Expect better standardization and interoperability/exports for external engines though.Also there is work being done on a so-called 'interactive mode' for things like arch viz and sim development.I'm actually kind of releaved that for once, B3D isn't trying to integrate everything and the kitchen sink. Everything that's already there belongs in Blender, but it's continuously on the brink of becoming top-heavy.Know your strengths, I guess.

God damnit, that's cool. I want to get good enough to make my own "Blender Only" reel one day, now that Blender does pretty much everything.

@@Needly I think Blender is great and superior in Asset creation (modeling, texturing, Uv... maybe Maya is bit superior). And my main focus is asset creation, then animation / Eevee. There are great plugins and great default modeling tools. Give me, Vray, Corona, Arnold, Redshift or Octane, etc Which are production-ready and not primitive I would switch 100% to Blender, no 2nd thought.
