Welcome, Day 2 of Blender Introduction Series.
I hope you all enjoying the process and ready for second step.
If not, take it easy and you can watch this video later when you are
done with the first chapter -
• Blender Day 1 - Absolu...
Today we are going to talk about how to make custom objects in Object Editing mode.
So far we have been dealing with basic primitives, but now I think its time we add more fun to it. So that you can feel more in control and push your artworks with more custom shapes.
I wish you all luck and feel free to share your creation on Instagram at @instacrossmind.
Links to follow rest of the chapters of this series:-
Day 1.
On the first day we will discuss the absolute basics of Blender, and work our way around the interface, getting comfortable with the interface, creating basic objects, transformation tools, what is 3d cursor, origin, local and global axis, snapping options, etc. and make a very simple scene with just the basic primitives so that you get used to initial important commands and develop some muscle memory with Blender.
Link - • Blender Day 1 - Absolu...
Day 2 ( You are Here )
Link - / @crossmindstudio
Day 3
This chapter will be about modifiers, What are modifiers and vertex weights, and their use and discuss different use case scenarios. It also will create few objects in combination with multiple modifiers.
Link - / @crossmindstudio
Day 4
On the Fourth Day we will discuss the materials. How do the basic materials work and the meaning of terms used in shaders, How to mix shaders, set up basic PBR shader, textures, etc? We will also talk about UV a bit and will shade all the models we created in modifier chapters.
Link: • Blender Day 4 - Shadin...
Day 5 - will be about basic tools of lighting, what are the different categories of lights, and how they work, such as HDR Lighting, Making Lamp Objects, Emission Shaders etc. We will also discuss and make few light setups with different sources and render them out.
Link: • Blender Day 5 - Lighti...
Day 6
This is where everything will start making sense as we make a really fun looking animated aircraft model which will also be the part of an animated scene. In this chapter, we will work with blueprints and make a 3d model, solve all the basics modeling related problems on a beginner level, and use all the tools of object editing in a practical context. Then we will set up the final asset and shade it for a still render with Eevee.
Link: / @crossmindstudio
Day 7
The last chapter will be all about animation. We will begin with how to prepare a model for animation.
Talk about the basic tools of animations in 3D and make a bouncing ball to understand how keyframes work. We will also discuss how to set up keys for different parameters and what are the possibilities of keying parameters available on object and modifier levels. We will also talk about curve editor, f curves, animation f-curve modifiers and lot more.

Common Problems and Answers: 1. Where can i get project Files: Download project files and Bonus Content: crossmindstudio.gumroad.com/l/lZHjb 2. Extrude along normal doesnt work? Answer : Thing to keep in mind which i might not have mentioned is that, if you extrude using the gizmo(handle) which shown when using extrude tool then the different commands are going to work well. But even if extrude along normal or other mode is selected and you press E to extrue it would simply extrude with default option. Or you can use Alt+E and then chose the mode you need for extrusion and then you won't need to manually drag the handle. Also it depends on what kind of geometry you are using it on. If its a flat plane it would work the same. for Extrude along normal to work differently, you need a surface which have normals facing in different directions. try it on a sphere. 3. How to i add lights and render it out. Answer: Lights and Shading is discussed in later chapters. Chk the playlist ( description) and proceed to further chapters and you should be able to make render of your own by end of this series and much more :). 4. Unable to join two parts of dumbell with bridge command/ unable to see bridge command when two spheres selected. Answer. Bridge command can only be used to bridge two loops or edges of same mesh. For it to work you need to make sure that both spheres are joined (ctrl+j) and then try the command again.

It turns out that somehow I pressed EXTRUDE at some point, and even though I didn’t extrude, apparently, that is enough to have moved the edge enough to not allow BEVELING. . After an exhaustive search on KZread, I finally found a guy that explained it. In EDIT mode press SPACE then type “MERGE” and select MERGE BY DISTANCE. Voila, you can now BEVEL edges again, thanks GOD.

These are one of the most complete introductory tutorials I've every seen, well done! Maybe not for complete beginners, but it's a very good reference for a lot of operations. I wish I could watch these last year when I started out with 2.8 haha. For me it took watching dozens of tutorials and weeks and months to collect the knowledge you share in these couple of vids. Pretty awesome. :) I have to point out a small thing - often times you say polygon, when really what you mean is quad. :) I'm not sure if you mentioned the J command, but it's my favorite one and it's worth showing, often times it's more convenient then grid fill when you want to fix ngons. Also, bridge edge loops can be found in the Edge menu. It automatically deletes the starting faces, so no need to delete those beforehand

Tutorials are always precise, inquisitive and perfect. All other tutors just blabber a lot of things which really confuses beginners. Crossmind is really structured but at the same time it gives you a firm footing which encourages you to explore things on your own.

Hello, I don't write comments on youtube very often, but I wanted to let you know this is incredible so far and so easy to understand. I have a background in more engineering type 3D software (solidworks, Fusion 360, Revit) and was interested in trying a bit more artistic application but was always scared of jumping in. You've made it very easy to understand and enjoyable. Thank you so much! I can't wait to continue with the rest of the intro course

@ 45:00 anyone is confused after 44:30 or getting errors like SELECT AT LEAST TWO EDGE LOOPS so what he did was applied the SUBDIVIDE MODIFIER if you can’t find APPLY button its right next to 📷 icon there is a small bottom ARROW🔽 click on it and there is APPLY option and for error SELECT AT LEAST TWO EDGE LOOPS if you look closely he duplicated the object (cube/sphere) while he was in EDIT MODE so that means its still a SINGLE OBJECT NOT A separate DUPLICATE ONJECT do that or else you can do is DUPLICATE THE OBJECT and SELECT BOHT THE PARENT AND DUPLICATE and press CTRL+J and then inEDIT MODE delete the faces on both of them and select THE EDGES while holding CTRL AND SHIFT and then press SPACE to search for BRIDGE EDGE LOOPS! HOPE IT HELPS SOMEONE ✌🏻😄 Ps THANKS FOR THESE AWESOME TUTORIALS MAN

You are such a blessing for all those newbies who really do want to learn the tool and obviously modelling. Love every bit of what you teach and there is no single thing in today's lesson (i.e. Lesson no. 2) that has put me in any sort of confusion. You are the best teacher I have ever found on KZread by far. Honestly, I won't regret calling you my Guru and Ustaad. :) Thank you soooo Much for such a detailed lesson on Editing Objects.
