Additional info:
I've been modeling in Blender since about 2015, but more recently in the past couple of years. I've been making games and assets in Unity since 2011, and I'm currently working on a multiplayer RTS game called Line War.
I use a Sony FX3 camera with a Sony FE 2.8/24-70mm GM lens. My main microphone is now the Shure SM7B, and I use a Rode NTG3 shotgun mic if I need it to be out of view. I downgraded to a Focusrite Solo from my wonderful RME Fireface UFX II that I had to sell when I moved from Sweden.
Thanks a lot for watching and sharing my videos :)

I feel the Eevee renderer’s bloom makes it look more alive. Without it looks like the building is closed.

If you combine Eevee and Cycles to get bloom in Cycles, you could just as well only use Cycles and add glow in the Compositor... when you ask what I like for rendering I'll go for Cycles. To me rendering is not what I get instantly in the viewport - it's what I get when I hit F12 to render. So as I said, I can easily get glow with Cycles in compositing and it's much easier to get realistic reflections, transmissive glass materials, emissive materials etc. in Cycles without the need to set it all up like in Eevee.

I was gonna say that. A simple fog glow in the compositor achieves a great result.

Wow, this cyber city building turned out really great. You make it look so simple but every time I try to make any 3D model for my own games I fails - so that's why I'm sticking with 2D games for now. Anyway congrats. Keep up the great work. - Dan

Just take it slower brother, give yourself some breathing room to learn without racing a mental clock...Take the pressure off yourself by not trying to create a project you'll finish & use for anything, just do a bunch of throwaway projects while you learn from mistakes so you get comfortable with the software... After dedicating a few months to that, you'll eventually get to a point you can navigate much faster & take on bigger tasks... I know you can do it & It will be worth it!!

Great video as always, hope the move is proving not to stressful and you are all settled in now. Couple of questions for you, how are you judging heights when you model? I followed the character course.. but I didn't really follow and just went with what looked ok.. but didn't like the end result. Do you use the blender grid lines to estimate? Second, are you still using the tablet pen for modeling? or a mouse? My mouse is a little clunky, so any recommendations there? Might get a bamboo type tablet, but not sure if that is more for drawing or modeling? Cheers

I feel it makes more sense to have a bunch of junk hastily added to the top and sides. In a world that is overpopulated people are going to make more use of vertical space and those additions would be added onto older structures with little regard for the original design.

Hi, Imphenzia. You can use viewport compositor with cycles. But i do believe that in 3.5.1 the glare (fog glow - bloom) is still unsupported as is still had to be wrote for GPU. But i know that 3.6 has it. Just tested it.

If you want to add bloom in cycles: Open compositing tab. In node-based system, insert a bloom node between render layers and composite nodes. change the bloom type to "Fog glow" Adjust bloom node's intensity and threshold for desired glow strength and brightness.

I have recently come across some of your tutorial videos specifically the low poly character creation, among many others. My question is how are you able to duplicate and then move the object after finalizing the duplication. Every time I try to do that it seems to automatically connect to the object I duplicated it from. My steps are Shift+D, move the cursor to ensure it did the duplicate, then press L-mouse button to release, then scale, than G to move it. But as soon as I grab it again its connected to the rest of the model and creates other triangles in the model because it connected itself. Could you possibly help me figure out what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance...

I actually press Shift+D to duplicate the the face so it's not part of the same mesh, but it is in the same object. It is tricky to tell from that video, but I press Shift + D, and then I press Escape or Right click to snap it back to the original position before extruding it upwards again. Sorry, I missed to enable Screencast keys in the beginning of that video.

Great building! Imphenzia style. 😉👍 Eevee is Ok for static renders. And what if the scene has a lot of moving objects with shadows and reflections? We should bake volumetric lighting and reflections every frame. We can automate it using scripts, but it takes a lot of time anyway. At the end it will take the same time to render as in cycles or even more.

Rap on "E to extrude and S to scale" by chatGPT (Verse 1) Yo, let me take you on a trip, a blender expedition, Where E's gonna extrude and S gonna scale with precision. We're diving into 3D, where creativity's unleashed, Blender's the tool, let's rap about functions that'll never cease. (Chorus) E to extrude, S to scale, that's how we rock the game, Blender's our playground, where art becomes flame. From vertices to faces, we're building something grand, With every click and keystroke, we make the world expand. (Verse 2) Picture this, we start with an object, simple and plain, But with E, we'll pull and push, make it rise like a plane. Extruding edges, creating depth, giving objects new life, Adding dimension, making models sharp as a knife. (Pre-Chorus) Blender's the canvas, where imagination takes flight, With S to scale, we bring it all to the right height. From tiny pebbles to towering mountains so grand, We'll use the scaling function, take control in our hand. (Chorus) E to extrude, S to scale, that's how we rock the game, Blender's our playground, where art becomes flame. From vertices to faces, we're building something grand, With every click and keystroke, we make the world expand. (Verse 3) Now, let's talk about scaling, the tool of transformation, S brings the magic, resizing with dedication. From X to Y to Z, we stretch and shrink with ease, Bringing objects to life, like a cool summer breeze. (Bridge) Blender's the stage, where artists create their symphony, Using E to extrude and S to scale, a divine harmony. With every vertex, every face, we sculpt our masterpiece, Unleashing our creativity, never ceasing to increase. (Chorus) E to extrude, S to scale, that's how we rock the game, Blender's our playground, where art becomes flame. From vertices to faces, we're building something grand, With every click and keystroke, we make the world expand. (Outro) So grab your mouse, your keyboard, let's dive into the unknown, Blender's our vessel, where our wildest dreams are sown. E to extrude, S to scale, the functions that we embrace, Blender's our world, where art finds its rightful place.
