Blender 2.8 Tutorial - Project Images Onto Surfaces
In this tutorial, I will show you how to project images or decals onto a surface fast and easy. This is pretty good for most surfaces and easy to reuse and modify

Thank you, this was awesome, so simple and fast method! Excatly what I'm looking for! :)
brother man, you saved so many peoples time and energy
Thanks your video was super helpful! When trying to save the GLB when I load it back up the image has detached from the 3d model though. Is there a way to combine these so it is permanent? Thanks!
That's really neat, thanks!
This helped me a lot! Thanks!
I could kiss you right now my guy omg, ive been pulling my hair out over trying to work out how to put images into a model for an assignment I need to have handed in tomorrow and youve just saved my life thank you so much for this tutorial 😭
Best tuturial ever thank you so much
Thank you so much , u just explained one of the important things
I tried following this process exactly, but for some reason it wont stick to my character model. Also with the transparent background of my image it always saves as a black box. I'm not sure how I can fix this.
Good stuff. The final step missing for me is how to bake that decal onto the object so that when you export an .fbx it is there.

did u figure out how to do this
Once i confirm the location of the images plane on the object. Is it possible to output them as a texture?
Great tutorial homie, thanks a lot!
Pretty good tutorial it did help me a lot for my personal project. Excellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllent
Excellent. Can I use this approach to cut or extrude from a surface?
Thank you! Perfect for a beginner like me 😊
That was awesome very thank you
Wow thank you so much! That really helped!!!
keep going man, you will grow
Awesome work man
Thank you for this!
I'm trying wrap an image around a cylinder entirely but this method only wraps the image partially. Any idea how to get it to wrap right around?
Thanks for this. Is there a way to anchor it to the surface of the object so when I use a rigidbody, they stay together? thanks.

apply the modifier, parent the image to the object, and boom
I’m new just trying to make a 3D shirt have the shirt but can’t put a png graphic on it. I’ve watched too many videos some have more steps then other but they all end up not right for me.
Awesome Method !!!
@picrac i am using this method and have it where i want but there is excess. im not sure how to get rid of it
Thanks! Life saver my boy! SUBBED.
How do i make it stick to the object during animation?
if the object breaks will the texture image remain the same or break separately ?
thanks!
how do I just project my decal onto the texture? Like my geometry is not simple enough for this method
thank you very much
THANK YOU!!!
Man, i love you
Out of curiosity, why use this method versus the UVProject modifier method? Both are non destructive and with the uvproject its actually part of the image so you don't have unnecessary geometry?

Can you elaborate? I'm trying OP's method without much success. Do you have a link for UVProject method?

@@Heddrick Had the same problem months later; probably not helpful for you at this point, but for anyone else who finds this, KZreadr GENVFX has a on it. I'll try my best to describe how to do it; on the model you want the texture to be applied to put the UVProject modifier and add the texture you want as an emissive material, then create an Empty and set it as the projector in the UVProject modifier, you can then rotate, scale and move the empty to effect where the texture is displayed on the object.

Why not making this during the texturing process?
as a headphone user after the intro i am bleeding, 5/5 highly recommend
Try photo projecting yr textures
This is a good tutorial but holy shit that intro. Can you make a tutorial of that too?

They don't seem to be very active on this channel and I know you asked this a month ago, but my best guess of how they did it was but a wireframe modifier on a high poly icosphere then another slightly scaled down icosphere with an emission of whatever color you'd like, then for the background it would be a high poly plane, that was triangulated, and with an ocean modifier (there on tutorials on how to make them move)
not that bad. Keep working on videos
gg good bomb boom boom
Blender is great but compared to ss in texturing it's very sad.
Is this a Fellow Northern Irish man i hear?
why is this so difficult to do...
i had forgotten subdivide!! man!! me dumb
theres no import as images. this is bullcrap
This video not useful. Because he don't show how can add modifier to image. I can't add modifier to image. This video completely waste of time.

You need to import image as plane and not refrence. And he acually tells you how.
Thanks so much, this helped a lot!
