blended farmhouse nighstands

**Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

WHEN YOU WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT STICKY DOORS/DRAWERS, IT REMINDED ME OF WHAT MY MOTHER USED TO DO IF A DRAWER WAS STUCKY. SHE WOULD RUB A BAR OF DRY SOAP TO WHAT EVER WAS STUCKING. THERE ARE BETTER THINGS TO USE NOW, BUT BACK IN THE 40'S, THAT'S WHAT SHE USED TO DO. IT'S LIKELY SOMETHING SHE LEARNED DURING THE DEPRESSION. MY GRANDPA WAS A CARPENTER WHO LIKELY SHOWED IT TO HER, OR SHE WATCHED HIM DO IT.

I love this! Now I know what to do with my tv cabinet! I love your down to earth, not intimidating videos. Keep on keeping it real 🌻 all these Instagram “perfect house, perfect makeup, perfect hair” women are getting on my nerves and make me feel like crap. You are like watching a friend who loves to make pretty things that I can have my paint shirt on with.

I have learned so much from you- thank you for sharing your thinking process picking color and finish! Please tell me more of that. I still get nervous about that! Wish you only blessing!

I am from South Carolina. Next Dixie Belle color needs to be named with the word "Y'all" in it. Maybe like a creamy yellow with a touch of brown called "grits yall " LOL

My first time watching. I am hearing impaired and I couldn’t follow you even with the captions as I think their was to much background noise or you weren’t close enough to the microphone. (Maybe both) I really loved watching and would love to learn, but I think I probably missed to many steps due to my hearing. I am going to try and rewatch it again tomorrow as it is kinda long video but looks like you go over everything really well.

Brandy please help. I took a lot of time and had a plan. Straight to the question... I’m so disappointed and need to begin again. I painted with dixie bell “dark” purple. Can I use “gator hide” to seal and go back and paint with lighter colors????? I’m painting in my garage which has been so hot 90 plus degrees and my paint is drying so fast, I then spray with a little water and destroyed my beautiful blending / shading.

Is it best to find 3 coordinating colors that are very close to each other?

  • @BrushedbyBrandy

Yes, similar colors are easier to blend than colors further apart on the color wheel

Brandy, do you always do just the one coat when doing this technique? Are there any instances where you would do an overall base coat before beginning using your blending colours?
