to see which blend door actuator is in your truck. The blend door actuator I am replacing in this video controls air temperature not the air vent control.
Common cause of blend door actuator failure is an internal stripped gear, especially aftermarket actuators. Actuator controls hot to cold, cold to hot air coming out of vents.

An ez way to remove back screw on bad actuator... just pop the top off and remove motor and gears and then rotate housing out of the way... to reduce the risk of losing back screw on replacement make a thin card board capture washer to hold screw in hole and had spin a few times after mounting.. also you can put a few plastic spacing washer on back screw so you only have to screw it down half way.

@@Motorcarnut Couldn't get my paws thru that small opening to reach the backside.
Macaluco says to pull a fuse,wait put it back, turn the key to on. This recalibrates the actuator.

It’s not necessary for replacement, just turn hot to cold to reset.
Is this blend door for hot and cold? I see other vids but say its for dual zone (driver and passenger) and my sisters truck is a STX has the same single zone like the dash in video. Anyone?

Yes, it’s from hot to cold. It believe I mentioned that in the video.
After I disconnect the dash/panel and turned on the truck, before replacing the acuator, the clicking sound wasn't happening anymore. Does that mean it isn't the culprit? Should I replace anyway?

Depends, does it work? If it clicked before it will again eventually so I’d replace it.

@Motorcarnut I did end up replacing it, with a Motorcraft part. What was weird was I had purchased a tach smart actuator and the spline wasn't lined up. Parts guy suggested plugging it in and playing with the temperature settings to see if it moved the gear so the splines lined up.

Where did you get your replacement ?

I got a factory one off eBay, don’t use the Dorman brand, there not reliable

Mine doesn't work but never made any noises as well

Age, and same thing, cheaper parts. Everything is made cheaper now. But more so aftermarket Chinese parts.
