Did some gigs with Blaze back in the 80’s. He was one of the strangest dudes I ever met. Never could figure out if he was crazy or a genius. The genius let him do more with three chords than anyone I ever knew. The crazy got him killed.

Kyle Perry indeed I did. It was back in the 80s in Austin. I was a moderately successful songwriter playing the Austin songwriter “circuit “ as we called it. Split a couple of gigs with him and other locals. He was a weird dude but had the touch.

@@richardpatureau3980 no kidding that is cool, they did an independent film on Blaze fairly recently and ive wondered how well they portrayed the real man but i guess movies never really get it down 100% anyway. Were you ever around Townes?

Kyle Perry yes I was. One of the saddest cases I have ever seen. Amazing talent brought down by alcoholism. Last time I ever saw him he was passed out in the corner of a bar on 6th street in Austin.

While I have my favorites I pretty much listen to all genres. It's like mining for gold, every once in a while I find a nugget in all the crap. Some genres just have more crap than nuggets of gold. I've never understood how anyone can listen to the same thing, or eat the same food every day, or drink the same beer. Too much good stuff out there to limit yourself.

The beatles are great, they were lucky enough to be recognized though at the right time. There music was displayed before any other act at one time, and maybe that wasnt right, other people needed that recognition. The beatles were part of a new movement also, so it isnt really fair to use them as an example. Music was different then also, the top 40 charts were many different genres of music, now it is only a few genres, that all sound the same.nowdays pop artists arent musicians beatles were.

@iiskoalii why can't they listen to both? Some hip hop songs do have good lyrics, others don't. Good meaningful lyrics don't always make it to #1 on the hip hop (or country) charts though... example: red solo cup... lol... I guess catchy one-liner phrases just stick with more people.

@iiskoalii Pop music in general. Aparently you have to dumb it down and loose the meaningfulness of a song to make the public like it! Thats why all the good music is in the underground.
