Blanket Stitch Tutorial - How to do the basic blanket stich

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Learn how to do the basic blanket stitch with this video tutorial. We also have videos to show how to turn corners and how to end the blanket stitch (see below for links).
Blanket stitch embroidery is a versatile hand embroidery stitch that derived its name from the finishing worked around the edges of woolen blankets. Today, however, various types of blanket stitches are used as outlines and as functional decorative borders.
This blanket stitch is a decorative stitch used as an edging stitch to finish seams, attach applique designs, finish felt toys and ornaments and decorate crazy quilts.
Blanket stitches are basically flat stitches, neither raised nor textured, and can vary in size depending on the design requirement.
In today's blanket stitch tutorial, you will learn how to do the basic blanket stitch used to finish a single raw edge.

    Good instructions but PLEASE consider reorienting the camera so that we are watching over your shoulder. That way, our hands would be in the same position as yours as you work. Watching this video, I have to try to see it backwards in order for it to make sense. Thanks.

    I LOVE that you separated the blanket stitch from the blanket stitch corners and the blanket stitch end. I hated having to scroll back and forth in the same video to see all three when reviewing other creators’ videos. So clear. So succinct. Very much appreciated. And thank you for not including the cheesy music 😁

    am I back handed or something....just asking, as I have looked at more blanket stitch videos and I seem to work towards me which is easier (for me) working down the left side of my work so the straight edge is in line with the stitches as that are shown. but for some reason I cannot work away from me....any tips to rectify this, or is this just me

  • @Needlepointers

    @Needlepointers

    Hi Caraline, You can work the blanket stitch left to right or right to left. You can work it toward you or away from you. Just do whatever is easiest for you.
