Even all-world basketball star Blake Griffin looks for new ways to train and improve his game on the court. That’s why he recently cross-trained with track & field star Carmelita Jeter, focusing on sprinting technique, starts and fast-twitch explosion. Jeter, who is a world champion in the 100-meter dash and owner of three of the top 10 times fastest times ever run, encourages Griffin to ‘stay big’ with his head up, while swinging his arms from ‘chin to pocket.

    its crazy cause as a 300 hurdler and middle distance runner i run and try and stay big with a big chest and have a good cycle, but being a college d3 football player and more specifically wide receiver they try and change your running form into one where you have a hard lean. this is where cross training for me can sort've be hard. i got to the ohio div 1 regional meet so its not like im slow but its such a different running form between the 2 sports.

  • @stormspinner9000

    @stormspinner9000

    8 жыл бұрын

    While distance running isn't a bad thing, NBA players doing it actually is. Players need anaerobic endurance, not aerobic endurance. This is what happened to Lebron. He skimmed down, but did it very stupidly. He went low carb and did distance running. That's why he seemed slower last preseason until the effects wore off. So yeah, doing too much distance running decreases a players explosion, which is horrible.

  • @JustAnotherRunner

    @JustAnotherRunner

    +stormspinner9000 Fair enough. Maybe basketball isn't a great example... (Full disclosure I have never played or trained for basketball) But if any players like Blake Griffin go on 1-2 mile runs -- together with their anaerobic exercises -- Then they could benefit from some training on form etc for those runs
