Before my husband passed, he would have fixed it. Thanks to your video, I was able to fix my mower that has been in the shop 3x for this problem.

Sorry for your loss. So glad you were able to get it fixed.
One huge plus from watching this video. Seeing the mats the repairman was lying on during the repair turned out to be a great idea. I had been laying on concrete to work on my mower. I had some rubber floor mats from Harbor Freight and tried them similar to the man in the video. The mats worked great. Thanks for the idea.

Great multiple camera angles and lighting, showing every single little detail so your viewers can really see and understand how to do things. Thanks SO much! Not so crazy about all the channel plugs interspersed throughout, but I guess I can put up with all that to be able to watch your videos and learn. 😉🔧👍

Interesting, and informative. Extremely helpful. I have worked on a few mowers, and lots of small engines, never had to work on a John Deere, or other make of mower with the cable operated blades. If I do in the future, I will know how to do it. Great job Sir! Thank you and your wife , she is great at being your camera lady! 😊

Good job T-Bone. Hey something you might want to cover is on that mower leveling the deck I use to have to go out to customers homes and level those decks and when they saw how easy it was they were a little embarrassed because all I would do was lower the back of the deck down on a 2x4 then loosen the nuts on the deck hanger then it would honestly level its self then tighten the nuts back up raise the deck and remove the 2x4 and wallah you have a level deck. It was so simple that most of the time I never had to return to those customers homes to level a deck again they would do their own because it was so simple.

I've got a video suggestion, if you don't mind! How do you go about finding the correct parts for each machine? I know you use part's tree. But I can never seem to get the right things ordered. So I spend all my time waiting for parts, just for them to be wrong! I'm not a small engine repair shop, or a mechanic at all! I'm learning, from your videos. But, yeah.. a video regarding how you know part numbers and what to order would be really helpful! Thank you T-Bone!
@RaleysSmallEngines
8 ай бұрын
Thank you, that's a great question and a complicated one to answer. I have many sources for parts, yes I'm a licensed dealer. Many parts are easy to look up on parts tree using model number, date of manufacturer and serial number. When it comes to John Deere I go to green parts store for the number. AYP craftsman I use sears parts direct. There are way too many to list. I then use the OEM part number and go to Rotary Corp. or Stens and look it up there because I'm a dealer for them. I've been thinking on a video for your idea, great suggestion my friend, Thank you

Check the arm on the deck that the cable goes to. Sometimes they bind and don't fully engage from dirt, debris or rust.

I had to replace a small pin that went through the crank handle at the bottom, which connected the handle to that wire you show. It was a 6 hour repair bc i couldn't troubleshoot it without taking a bunch of stuff apart. But it would be a 5 minute repair if I did it again.

You're welcome. Yes same model number is the same machine at either place.
Great video for a repair of the WORST riding mower I have ever owned. I have owned riding mowers, since 1990, from numerous companies and I have never owned one that required as much maintenance and as many repairs as the John Deere E100. If you're considering buying a riding mower, don't buy a John Deere.

My Troy bilts were twice as good at half the price of my JD E120. Thought I was doing the right thing in investing in a John Deere
Are there any fixes for the plastic cable mount. My cable pulls out of the plastic
Yiu saved me $165.00 at LEAST!
how do you adjust the blade belt
Is it the spring or the belt because the cable moves

Just keep it simple
I have a 2021 toy built rear mounted engine 30 inch single blade would not engage had a horrible vibration in blade for a while then finally would not engage I replaced spindle and blade still nothing no engagement I finally found the problem was a bad blade belt had a notch burned in it and hung up around a pully 10 dollar belt fixed the problem runs and cuts like a new mower

T-Bone, my blades have started to engage part of the time, so I have to engage and disengage the lever several times. I noticed on another video where it mentions a blade PTO clutch. I'm guessing that may be my problem....🤔

Sticky cable or engagement arm binding up on deck. Good luck!
Well I hit a tree root and while still on top that root I disengaged the mower blades. The blades quickly came to a stop. I drove forward and tried to re engage the blades, Nothing! I have checked the cable at both ends and it is still in tact. I have checked the main drive belt and mower deck belt and they are good and still on the pulleys. What else could it be?

How much do you charge to do a job like that just curious or what is your hourly rate and where do you live? Jim
@RaleysSmallEngines
8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. Our hourly rate is $91 per hour, we are in South Carolina and I have the lowest rates in town. Everyone else is over $100 per hour other than shade tree shops with no license. This job, I charged $35.85 for the cable plus 8% tax and Labor was $36.40 for a total of $75.12. Plus we did a service and blades on this machine. Of course that was addtional charges.
