What a great show with a great guest and good energy between all of you! I missed the early live-stream due to being at the FLGS playing Blades of Khorne (Skulltaker took down Teclis - with some help). You all combined genuine happiness with the book without becoming cheerleader - a good critical eye but with positivity. I took a Bloodlords Bloodletters list to a local 3 round tourney yesterday - so much more fun that the old book. Much cleaner rules and Bloodletters actually do work! Glad to see you are feeling better.

I think this is my favourite book review you guys have done out of the catalogue of new books and I don't, nor have I ever, played Khorne. Lovely stuff. And I think Konstantinos is my favourite guest (out of a very strong bunch) that you've had. Fun, concise and so knowledgeable with a great Internet connection to boot. [Chefs kiss]

Tyler on the show adds at least 30 mins to an hour on the show and i love it! Great show!

Scott (Miniac) hardly plays any AoS and mostly just at 750-1000p level. And since these videos are aimed at the competitive scene, I don't see him adding anything valuable to the discussion. He's a fun dude, no doubt, but I don't think he has any expertise in this field (yet).

Tyler managed his dismay and outrage really well for 95% of the show. Respect.

Vince, have you seen the latest Battlescroll which prohibits khorne models from taking the arcane tome?! GW were listening clearly!

I have slowly accrued ~1500 points of Khorne over the last 6 or so years through a bunch of means and have only painted a handful of Bloodletters. This is the motivation I need to round it out with a Bloodthirster & actually get them all painted!

I have played Goretide 2 games now and that +1 to wound mechanic is really good so I hope folks give that sub faction a try. It comes up more often than one would think. I have popped the bloodsecrator +1 attack, khuls extra murder roll, that +1 to wound, and the battlefield just becomes a straight blood bath. So tasty. Overall this book is awesome and tons of variety of how you want to play with whatever units and subfactions (although many of the mortals heroes were a miss, I agree they could have done more interesting things with them). Thanks for this Battletome review session. This one and Coachs video are great Khorne primers for new and old players alike. Blood For The Blood God.

20 minutes and already getting IDK vibes with Constantinos being excited and Tyler being concerned for the book's impact on the meta😂

Watched it while rebasing my mortals - great show, loved the energy a lot ❤ it feels the only missed opportunity is the gorechosen, but I still have a little hopium in me, that the FAQ removes the leader keyword from the deathbringers 😆

They skipped p115-117? Dromm, Gorechosen of Dromm, Magore's Fiends and Garrek's Reavers. edit: ah nm, Vince tried to skip them, Constantino saved the day and covered them anyway!

This book looks fun and this episode makes me realize Tyler hates my kind of fun charging army. To each their own, but I think he has a great point on the effects of the meta with the most recent gt data from honest war gamer. Lots of khorne lists high up in this wild wild west.

wanted a full timmy army with my bloodletters and bloodthirsters. But i'll need to learn to love the army they decided it to stay. I predict a lot of 0-20 against me trying to be clever with my 4 bloodthirsters !

This was a good show, really appreciated the Hammer breakdown. That said when I saw this book, and the first list I wanted to play was 3 Thirsters backed by Bloodletters, just yeet and pray Leeroy Jenkins style. The fact that could be developed over time into a proper list that is competitive is just a bonus. Maybe after I have sorted some of the other armies out that I have on the go I will come back to it.

Great video - thanks Vince (and guys) - I love this book compared to the last one (which I also really liked - it was interesting to play even if it was not perhaps what you'd expect Khorne to be). I feel like this keeps some of the interesting tricks and movement mechanics of the last book, while feeling like it still has a bit of punch. I agree on internal balance re warscrolls - hard to do given the bonkers numbers of characters. However the rest is really good. I can see actually using more than 2 of the rewards from the bloodtithe table now for example. I like all of the subfactions to some degree (sure, some seem more generally useful - and in strict competitive terms probably will prove to be, but I could happily play any of them - that speaks to them doing something right with the book). Hope you feel better after the bout of Covid, fella, and thanks for all the great hobby help you give. I'm off to convert more hounds from BoC into fleshhounds as when you are on a budget, Khorneing them doggos up is a great way to get more stuffs for your hobby money if you are willing to do a bit of work.

Loving this video. I’m happy to see I will be able to fit a bloodthirster into my mortal army as I just finished mine. Konstantinos is an awesome guest. His knowledge of the game is very impressive and he was a very entertaining guest to boot. If they were to add a mortal centerpiece what would you like to see. I would love a big chariot priest unit

Great video. Love my Khorne but was unsure how I could use daemons this book. But you have me hyped. 2-3 skull cannons on the agenda for next game with the bleeding icon!

Konstantinos is right about murderlust - the army needs it. And it feels like the whole book is balanced around it. If it gets nerfed, the scrolls need buffs to compensate, and that's not something GW does. Moving it to 3 would totally change things though, because it would make it very hard to use T1 (unless your opponent does something very dumb). And if you couldn't use it T1 it would be far, far less powerful. Also, for the same reason, IMO Favoured of Khorne is actually the best warlord trait, even though everyone seems to be dismissing it and it is admittedly boring. It gives you a guaranteed T1 murderlust, something there is no other way to get. The prayer is only a 75% success rate, which means that 1 in 4 games you won't get it. And not being able to murderlust T1 will absolutely lose you games you otherwise would have won. 1 blood tithe may not seem like a lot, but the first point is the most important by far.

I think blood sacrifice is actually higher if you account for the skull alter reroll failed prayer rolls. Getting an extra prayer or free movement wins out everytime.

@@brettjeff9227 4+ rerolling is 75%. If it was a 3+ I'd take my chances and just live with the 1 in 10 games where it doesn't work, but a 1 in 4 chance is significant. I've already played two games with the new book (out of 5 total, FWIW) that I absolutely 100% would have lost if I couldn't murderlust T1. I do expect almost everyone will go for the prayer or the movement because it's flashier.

I am adopting a more wait and see attitude for now I do think either slightly increasing its blood tithe cost or removing the ability to move within 3" are possible outcomes Also, I think some units may have points increases anyway to account how efficient they are for the mortals on death rolls (although with the recent nerf to Rally, said POSSIBLE points increase likely shrunk a little)

Great show and great guest! Also, great battletome, it seems.

If you read the description of the Khorgorath. they could go wild making ultra-cool models of things like giant sabretooths, spiders (with cleaver limbs if Wotc wouldn't sue), gorillas, a land nautilus, or completely new monsters, all with tentacles.

I don't know if I can wrap my head around a viable demon list for khorne. Bloodcrushers playable?? Blood throne?? My khorne demon models are more dust than plastic at this point.

Great review there, I started building my Khorne Daemon army straight away. One note about the Bloodlord Skulltaker combo. I think this doesnt work because the Bloodlords ability only triggers on the "Decapitating Blow" ability.

You can choose the skulltaker to fight immediately after you fought with a bloodmaster because he is a bloodletter, but the 5+ doesn't work.

Really feel there is an unreasonable fear of murderlust. It's good but still random to even have the option to use it and a random roll on top when you do move.

It's touching a third rail (entering combat without charging) which has a very bad history in the game, so there is some reason for concern, but like I said, I am not panicing yet, just watching.

@@KountKristyl I don't know if there are more or less, all games have third rails in exception based design. Moving it out of AoS, think about something like D&D, the Action Economy is their third rail, if you can suddenly cast 5 spells in a turn, or attack an unreasonable number of times, it can have strong unintended consequences. It matters much less in a cooperative game, but it's strongly there. For AoS, things like Objective Control, Returning/summoning Models in too large of numbers (and hence wildly unbalancing the points) and the combat range are the 3 that come to mind.

@@KountKristyl ANything could work, but the rail is charged and could kill you. It's not that you can't touch it, it's just that you have to do so very carefully. :)

It's a tough road with that color scheme, working with something highly transparent over a zenithal is likely your best option.

Arcane tome can longer be taken by Khorne at all with the battlescroll. So that was a quick easy fix lol. Also don't think there are ANY wizards at all that can be allied into Khorne anymore.

Any picks for a fun Khorne ally? I have 230 points of S2D left to fill. I know picking another in-faction unit would be "better," but just looking for something different if it can also be effective.

So errata just dropped. They gave skullmaster the hero keyword. They didn't give skull cannons bloodletter keyword. Which is odd. They also didn't give bloodthirsters the single keyword. The books pitched battle profile doesn't have single on any of the bloodthirsters except skarbrand. So with the errata out. You can legitimately say you can reinforce bloodthirsters. Having two insensate rage with strike first walking 24" towards you is actually terrifying.

I'm surprised you didn't think it was worth mentioning the combo you can pull off with the generic Mighty Lord of Khorne. If he makes a Gorechosen unit in a Galletian Command fight first, then the Gorechosen will pull their Sworn Bodyguard into the Always Strikes First. And it works on both players turns too, since it's a command ability and doesn't stipulate that you use it in "your" combat phase. So I think an Exalted Deathbringer(or a Bloodsecrator, because he has the Gorechosen keyword) paired to a pack of 10 Skullreapers, with a Mighty Lord backing them up, is a genuine threat. Because even outside Skullfiend Tribe, you can get those guys to be swinging first with *all* those attacks. Both on and off your turn. Also, I kinda rate the Exalted Deathbringer, for less than 200 points, you can get the Exalted Deathbringer and a Skullgrinder, the Skullgrinder brings the Deathbringer's Spear to Rend 3, and if he gets the Gorecleaver Artefact he goes to Rend 4. So, with all those buffs in mind, that you only pay 180 points and *maybe* an Artefact slot for, I'd argue that the Exalted Deathbringer is better than you give him credit for. He's not amazing, Ill give you that, 5+ armor isn't great. But I see him as the combat-focused Gorechosen that accomplises what GW wanted out of that build concept. A cheap, decently punchey foot hero who can swing well above their weight class with the right buffs. And if nothing else, he makes for a decent and cheap hero to power pair with alongside Skullreapers in a Galletian Command Battallion, as I mentioned earlier. Use Skullfiend Tribe, get the 8+ charge, and chain activate in ASF, even *without* the Mighty Lord that's still a decent play imo.

Keeping 10 skullreapers wholly w/in 6" of the hero is quite difficult because they're on 40mm bases. It's not impossible, but they have to be bunched extremely tightly, which makes it much easier for your opponent to avoid. If the bat was wholly w/in 12" instead of 6" it'd be a totally different story and you'd see the bat used much more often, not just in Khorne but generally. The much stronger ASF play in the book is an ASF bloodherald (via the relic) with a 20 block of bloodletters, since the bloodherald's ability only requires the bloodletters to be wholly w/in 16", which is a completely different ballgame.

Khorne got a glow up, especially the Mortal units I like how a lot of the heroes have specific useful niches, including the little demon heroes which I rarely saw before I agree with Konstantine that the damage is there, and people may be underestimating how much it can do like some people did with Nurgle (alternatively, they simply don't like that it is hidden behind "tricks" and would rather Khorne be much more straight forward ABC) Put murderlust on watch like a Dentist might with a problem tooth --- see if anything needs to be done I think the mortal wounds on death need looking at too, in my opinion (yes they make the game faster than fight on death but it makes some units too efficient damage wise for their cost --- also I tend to be against adding mechanics that deal mortal wounds because there are too many in the game as it is, but I digress)

No more Arcane Tome for Khorne heroes!

I like the feel of this new book. I wish Gorechosen were better.

On the one hand it isn't a bad battletome per se....It is easier to play and manage, that's good. Yes lots of tricks, that's great. My main disappointment is that we're kind of shoehorned into taking priests. That's where a lot of the tricks come from. I like the idea that we shouldn't have to take priests. Still a bit disappointing with Skullreapers and Wrathmongers as they're not 2 damage per hit like S2D chosen, despite being khorne's chosen....

As for Golden Demon - as a spectator I am very disappointed with direction it goes to. Perfect boxart is just plain boring to me. If I want to see boxart - I will look at store page, thank you. At painting competition I want to see creativity, conversions, going off the scheme etc. Not even perfect execution, tbh. I want to be WOW-ed by the entry. And perfect boxart is opposite of it. I - as a viewer - never get close enough to see the perfection of painting. The glass and the distance make it just look the same as on box. Aka, something I've seen too many times already. The fact that some of my faves never even got finalist pins, makes me salty. Both because my faves didn't get recognition they deserve AND because it will make next year even more boring to see. Because people who want to win will play the corporate game. And I get it. If you put this much time into a piece - you want it to win! But as attendee, I just cannot bring myself to care for in-house GW-style. I see it all the time on boxes in stores. Why would I go into a crowd to see them in cabinets too? And this is even before judges breaking several spectacular entries. Which should not have happened. Like, did they get toddlers to judge them or what? On topic of Khorne - doggo battleline made me want to get khorndog army! Maybe a project for next year. I love AoS for letting pretty much anything to be battleline. So much flavour!
