    Sorry to be three years late to the party. When you did the first part laying down the wet paint to sketch out the initial highlights ,what kind of consistency of paint were you working with? Do you consider this to be more like wet blending with thick paint or more like layering?

    @Vince, I’m pretty new to airbrushing and have a question about general trigger usage. I’ve seen videos that emphasize always pushing the trigger completely forward before releasing the airflow to avoid clogging. For the “rock and spike” method at 6:20, it looks like you’re stopping the airflow at times with the trigger still pulled back a bit. Is that right, or are you still going forward past the nozzle cut-off point before you release? I ask because the technique you’re using above looks more natural and controllable than ramping the paint flow up and down every time…but I’m scared of clogs (and scared to take my Patriot 105 apart to clean it!). Also, my Patriot 105 has a very short trigger depression range…maybe 1/8 inch if that. Is that normal? Am I missing an adjustment screw somewhere? Thanks!

    Just me or is the quality truly locked at what looks like 240? KZread premium sure sucks if it is since I can't change the quality on my phone in the vid settings... Edit: loads of quality option on desktop but not in the KZread app. KZread is getting dumb

    Yeah it would be cool if GW cared about the games people actually play. LIKE THE TABLETOP GAME WITH THE BIGEST EVENT! Bloodbowl. Last worlds was the biggest tabletop event (most coaches). So yeah, do more bloodbowl!

    Hey Vince, I just started priming my models after watching your videos, but I’ve ran into an issue. After priming, a few models had there primer taken off when I set them down, a while after priming. Similarly, another model had its primer come off when I positioned it with some bluetack, as if it just pulled off the primer. Any advice?

    Hey Vince apologies if this has already been asked but is there any chance of getting a Mr Hobby Primer primer? Anything that's not acrylic and water based makes me worried about trashing my airbrush. I realise you've done priming videos fairly recently and there is already some resource out there on this so maybe it's not worth your time, I just trust you more than some random gundam guy's vid I can find. Love the rattos, can't wait to see the finished army!

    I know this is a couple of years too late, but I just found your video and loved it! I've been a Vallejo fan since pretty much the beginning of me moving from enamels to arylics. I've always found their metallic line to be REALLY good. The Game Air line is definitely a different formulation. I did some research into the different lines (Mecha, Air, Game Air, Game Color, etc) and their "Game" line contains additives to help make the paint more durable so it would work well on miniatures that are handled a lot. I assume that's why there are some texture differences. Obviously their Air and Game Air lines were meant to go through an airbrush, but I've had a lot of good luck painting them with regular brushes. I've been back into the scale model hobby for a few years now and I only just discovered silicone brushes. The metallics definitely work better with the silicone brushes. You get a smoother pass and no brush lines. It's excellent for acrylics because they can dry so damn quickly (especially pre-mixed airbrush colors) and don't generally get a chance to level out before drying. Anyway, hope to see more videos of yours! I'm subscribing and going to thumb through your video catalog later. Thank you for taking the time to make content!

    Thanks for the tips - just wondering how you would seal in a pour on just a standard 40k base? I wanted to add some toxic sludge and puddles that would extend to the edge of some of my miniatures.

    FOr small bases, I would use UV resin, it's much slower moving and easy to manipulate on bases.

    You say use gloss varnish to remove chalkiness, would matte varnish do the same? Or is it the gloss itself that prevents that?

  • @VinceVenturella
    @VinceVenturella2 күн бұрын

    Not really, the gloss varnish reflects a more pure white light because of the smooth surface, I have a couple of videos on finish and how light works, so check those out as well. :)

    That was excellent. I will be rewatching this in anticipation of the big box coming in while tossing up what I want to do. This video is great inspiration. I did have a scheme in mind and had painted 60 of the Isle of Blood clan rats in a mix of teal or magenta depending on allegiance- and they look okay. I'm not completely sold on them but I am working hard on being finished rather than perfect and reminding myself that painting is an additive process that can always be come back to. New rats will heal the soul.

    Vince, what sort of process would you recommend if I want to do a recess oil wash but then use metallic paint on other areas after? Can I gloss varnish, apply wash, and then matte varnish to get a toothy surface?

    I know this is an old video, but out of curiosity, would airbrush flow improver be better than "thinner" for the vallejo airbrush primer? I was under the impression that thinner causes faster dry times, and flow improver dries slower and has better self-leveling. I'm new to my airbrush, I don't want to mess anything up.

  • @VinceVenturella
    @VinceVenturella2 күн бұрын

    I use an 80/20 mix of thinner to flow improver, it won't take much flow improver to counter out the drying time.

    Every kind of Fluo Orange is about to go out of stock thanks to this video. I'm gonna go with a Mordheim tone with mine, but I've taken a lot from this video. Thanks for all your hard work, Vince. I'm really glad you've been rewarded for your patience with these new fabulous models. One question, do you think any of the models in the box would benefit from being painted sub assembled? You probably won't know until you've put brush to plastic on each of them, but maybe you've already got some idea of models which may be annoying to paint fully assembled. Thanks again, Vince.
