Since everything belongs to Disney now...The film will not have an R Rating unlike Deadpool 3 and Mahershala Ali is not happy with the production of the film, then I think it's better not to shoot it at all! The image of Daredevil can already be said to have been desecrated in She-Hulk

It did not while it did very well For what it was at the Time. It made 131 Million Dollars , its budget was around 45 Million, so your looking at 86 Million , Now subtract Box Office/Movie theatre which is around half of that. So 43 Million Dollars that then Majority of which WENT TO FOX STUDIOS..NOT Marvel Comics. If marvel made more then I'm betting closer to 5+ million (Blade was NOT a A or even B List Hero hes was a very little known and not succeful comic charecter so I'm betting they got the rights for Cheap. So NO Blade 1 did not "Save Marvel" that would be Stan Lee selling the Rights TO Spider Man to SONY and Fantastic Four and a few other's to Like FOX Blade, Ghost Rider. And then year went by before a Marvel Property Movie Really hit the megabucks with SONY's ( Not Marvel's) Spider Man film. Blade was the First HIT Marvel IP Movie though. To be fair the first Marvel movie was Howard the Duck so not exactly strong competition. Blade is one of My Favorite films I own I have watched and rewatched the DVD for years.

This movie is ahead of its time in every way: * It didn't have a love story * It had a more subtle diversity * It's a superhero movie that took everything seriously, being R-Rated even before Deadpool proved to be effective * It had action scenes that became popular with THE MATRIX (even before The Matrix was made) * Even the cinematography made it look like it was released recently, despite being over 20 years old

R-rated superhero movies and HK style action were all the rage in the 90's. Before Blade there was The Crow (1994) and Spawn (1997). As early as 1990, Raimi's Darkman was R rated and the Ninja Turtles trilogy (1990-93) had a legit HK stunt crew. (Also Judge Dredd 1995 was R-rated and didn't have a love story but we don't have to count that one...)

Its legacy endures and it definitely still holds up till this day. But it doesn’t get the full praise that it deserves imho. The set design alone in it is absolutely extraordinary! The sound design. Story, Casting, Hair & Makeup. Costume Design, Soundtrack, Stuntwork, Fight Choreography and Pacing are stellar. It’s hard to believe that they accomplished so much shooting in Los Angeles of all places with just a $45 million dollar budget! Blade is an R Rated Action/Horror movie. Starring a black man and black woman in 1998 that made almost three times its budget back. $131 million dollars at the box office. Director Stephen Norrington created a Masterpiece with Blade. It saved Marvel. It influenced The Matrix. And Dante & Vergil of the Devil May Cry franchise would not exist if not for Wesley Snipes portrayal of Blade.

I remember one of the Wachowskis saying Blade was an inspiration for The Matrix and the 1st R-Rated Marvel(Not Deadpool). Also, if a person follows Blade then they know how Blade saved Marvel, but I'm surprised current Marvel fans think it all started with X-Men, Iron Man, and Spider-man. Even Kevin Feige doesn't respect Blade because of how he wanted to cheap out the movie, make it PG13, and had a weak script. The new Blade had been pushed back so many times I'm waiting to hear it was cancelled.

As far as horror movies you might considering watching in the near future, I would recommend the film Hereditary if you haven't already seen it. Also, to answer Jane's question about Irish blooded super heroes, Banshee (aka Sean Cassidy) qualifies as one and I believe Daredevil (aka Matt Murdock) is as well but I'm not absolutely certain.

as for ice skating uphill, it is something that with some thinking is almost certainly impossible, water settles in the lowest point around, so finding a heavily enough ice covered hill would be next to impossible. Next is ice skating is based mostly on inertia with really low levels of friction meaning going against gravity in the situation at all is near impossible without extreme levels of inertia.

@@redmoonbloodmoon3161 Blade 3 is watchable and not that bad. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is an underrated movie and is really well done imo. Top 3 vamp movies for me. Daybreakers was really good but not for ppl looking for action. Blood the last Vampire is as you say. Underworld 1 and 2 are solid and I'd argue that the 3rd(which is a Prequel to the events of movie 1) is the best with 4 being decent and 5 only good for the fight scenes. Van Helsing shows it's age once you rewatch it but still okay. The League of extraordinary gentlemen is actually not as good and you may remember ( and that's coming from a fan of the movie). give it another watch and it shows it's age even more than Van Helsing plus the plot and writing could use some work and the characters were not as fleshed out as they should have been. Twilight is... Well, it's Twilight. Dracula Untold is one of the best vampire films in a long while imo(not perfect or exceptional) but really really well done. Then there's Priest. It's a great movie but felt like part one to a two part story so it feels somewhat flat and unfinished but the characters are cool, the CG and fighting is decent. The characters are also more fleshed out or at least illustrated better and their motivations are clear. Barely remember blood and chocolate but I think it was good.🤷🏾‍♂️

And 20 years after Blade we got Black Panther. Which became a cultural phenomenon. And the second highest box office grossing movie of the year. At 1.3 billion dollars box office return! Blade IS pretty celebrated, is it not? I remember the critics at the time being much kinder to it than I expected and it was a late summer sleeper hit that went over with audiences extremely well. And...we may see Snipes as Blade again yet. Fingers crossed for that. It honestly feels like they're building up towards Snipes' return. We had Andrew back. Then Tobey. Then Patrick Stewart as Xavier. Now Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3. They're working backwards through the most important pre-MCU Marvel movies. And there's only one movie that can claim to be Marvel's true first cinematic success. Blade. It's not a coincidence that the Mahershala Ali Blade is happening right before Secret Wars. Groundwork is being laid for Snipes' return..

Blade is a dhampir(vampire/human hybrid), a Daywalker. He has superhuman strength, speed, stealth, reflexes, and slowed aging. Also in play, an impressive healing factor, immunity to silver(his sword, stakes, and bullets are this), garlic(vampire's kryptonite), and sunlight. Though his thirst for blood isn't as insatiable as all those he's hunted🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️🧛‍♀️, it's both a source of his strength and weakness. Lastly, he's highly disciplined and masterful in martial arts and weaponry. All of these make him a force to be reckoned with.

Mark 18:44? Heh. It isn't the guy with the surname, "Whistler", either! 🤣 My nostrils make sounds that remind me of kittens meowing, or if I lean forward, sometimes they sound like cats and dogs fighting, or cats and mice fighting. It took me awhile to realize that it was my nose as the source. It isn't constant though. 😁

Jane's come so far with these kinds of movies! IMO Stephen Dorff was a great antagonist - The second is better as Wesley got to do more of his own stunts. If he hadn't gone to jail? I think we'd have gotten more from Wesley with Blade, which I'd have loved to have seen.

Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost is one of my all-time favorite characters in cinema! He was the Thanos before Avengers Infinity War. Because if you think about it he wasn’t the antagonist at all. From his POV he was the protagonist of the story, just like Thanos was. And duel protagonist with Blade. Frost had his own goal and agenda that he was striving toward just like Thanos. And he partially succeeded at it too. He challenged the status quo of the vampire world. And proved to one and all that the supernatural world of vampires still exist. For if you recall the Pureblood Ancient Vampires had come to think all this talk about Blood 🩸 Gods and whatever else was just fairytales and superstition. There really does need to be more video essay analysis of Blade 1998. Because there is really and truly a lot of themes, layers and subtext within it.

That ice skate up hill line means some people always try to achieve the impossible and reach further than their capabilities allow. Since the moment you start trying to ice skate uphill you lose momentum due to gravity and a lack of anything to grip to since it’s ice
