In all fairness everything Disney did with marvel wasn't bad, although the writing was on the wall with the eulogy of Peggy Carter by Sharon Carter when they "woked-up" Captain America's "River of Truth" speech from Amazing Spider-Man vol 1 issue 537.

This movie is the movie that literally SAVED the Marvel film studio(s) from going bankrupt. Its success led to the creation of Marvel's X-Men trilogy, and then the Tobey McGuire Spider-Man trilogy, and after that (and various other Marvel films), came the MCU. I think it is very safe to say that without the success of Blade, the MCU would never have existed.

Exactly 💯💯💯😎⚔️🗡️but Hollyweird never gave him credit for bringing Marvel films to life. Or superhero films in general. To them, it's just another movie he made. All the credit went to Robert Downey Jr, probably due to Wesley Snipes becoming known for not paying taxes. It all started with a not so popular character who's been around since '73, a vampire slayer, for Marvel to give these other actors a job.🤷Snipes in a way practically put money in their pockets🤣🤦

Sure it's no excuse to be a dick, but messing an already established character who wasn't really popular back in early '70s? Dick move. They could've just done a movie with Hannibal and Whistler's daughter along with other supernatural characters and just done movie on them. Only with Blade in a cameo(or something). Probably would've been better than the cluster snot Blade 3. My opinion? Should've stopped at part 2 if that's the case🙄🤦

Around 6 minutes in, you ladies were wondering about Blade's training. In the Marvel Comics Universe Blade trained under several skilled martial arts masters. Some of the most notable include: * Master Shen Kuei, (also known as Cat); a highly skilled martial artist and assassin from China. He is an expert in various forms of martial arts, including kung fu and wushu. * Master Chikara, also known as the White Tiger; a Japanese samurai, and a member of the mystical group known as the Five Weapons Society. He possesses enhanced physical abilities and is a master of various martial arts styles, including kenjutsu (swordsmanship) and karate. * Stick, the blind sensei associated with Daredevil. Stick is a master of multiple martial arts disciplines, including ninjutsu and kendo.

Wesley Snipes is an extremely accomplished martial artist, so all those moves were really him. He even had to slow down because the camera couldn't keep up with his speed. Also, Blade II is inexplicably directed by Guillermo del Toro. It's one of the most insane sequels in the history of cinema and I can't wait for you two to react to it.

His speed came in handy in this role and they still had to ask him to slow down so his moves weren't just a blur on camera. If Natalie likes TWD she might enjoy *Night Of The Comet* from the 80's. Blade’s real name is Eric Brooks. His mom Vanessa Brooks was bitten by Deacon Frost. So Frost bite made him into vampire. The bite from a vampire will enter your body and begin to spread throughout your entire bloodstream then you’ll turned into a vampire. Blade is a hybrid vampire half-human and half-immortal. Blade has one weakness and that’s thirst drinking blood. Vampires need to drink blood an order to survive. Vampire abilities: immortality never aged, superhuman strengths, superhuman senses, superhuman speed, ability to regenerate.

In case you`re confused about the vampire ages, it`s vague but Whistler said vampires do age but slower than us due to their rapid cellular regeneration, but how slow they age seems to depend on whether the vampire in question is a Pureblood ,Turnedblood, Reaper or Daywalker. Purebloods seem to stop aging once they reach a certain point in their bloodsucking development(Again, it`s vague), Turnedbloods like Frost and his gang, Marcus Van Sciver as well as Chase ,Krista Starr and Det. Brian Boone, from "Blade The Series" seem to stop aging at the age they were turned and their regeneration is somewhat limited to healing wounds after they were turned rather than before, Reapers, Pearl and Damaskinos due to having been either genetically enhanced or having been vampires so long they don`t look human anymore but like albino marshmellows or Nosferatus their inhuman features make it hard to tell if they are or aren`t aging. With Daywalkers, whether they age or not depends if you`re talking about Pureblood Daywalkers like Drake/Dracula/Dagon in "Blade Trinity" in which case his status as the first vampire means he doesn`t age at all nor do those turned by him who were the original Pureblood Vampires or hybrids like Blade and the Bad Bloods gang from "Blade The Series" who age at a somewhat retarded rate to humans but less so than Turned and Purebloods. Also, most Turnedbloods started out as familiars to Purebloods.

I didn't really care for that one that much at all. Much of it actually annoyed me. All the Blade movies are pretty solid, fun escapism. For the coming season, if you haven't seen The Exorcist or The Shining, they are the "Big Two" horror films that are somewhere within the top 20 movies of all time. Outside of those, consider some David Cronenberg. He is famous for what is termed "body horror", with truly great and thought-provoking movies like The Fly and Videodrome.

Blade is the kind of comic book character that everyone knows about but never had his own series until 2023. He started as a supporting character in Tomb of Dracula #10, had a few solo stories in the black and white magazine books. He took off in the 90's as a part of team books like Midnight Sons and Nightstalkers. This movie really brought him to the forefront. You asked about his serum, he needs a serum to suppress his vampiric hunger.

Blade's serum counters the thirst his vampire DNA causes. The one critique I have about this film is the vampire god transformation, and subsequent fight are a bit hokey; ghostly, skeletal bats? I would opt for a more Lovecraftian style, formless, shapeless, shadow-like, less solid, more able to change form, to bond into a single entity, fearsome and dreadful. A shape which would be a bane to both vampires and humans.

Blade is great again in the third film, but I feel the casting and writing for this one was not top notch, like the first two films. Years ago there was a "Comics Code" that Marvel followed that prevented them from doing horror comics. Eventually they decided to drop that code and do a variety of mild horror stories. It wasn`t really that clean cut. It was more like Stan "The Man" Lee(R.I.P.) did anti-drug stories in "Amazing Spider-Man"(And under the initial Comics Code, they refused to publish because even though Stan insisted he wasn`t promoting drugs but making a cautionary tale about underage drug abuse at the time the Comics Code people said they didn`t care, they still weren`t allowed to approve the book by the government of that time who were very big on Christian values, anticommunism, respecting authority and conservative family values, avoiding anything that seemed to promote crime or the occult etc. )that forced the Code to liberalize and eventually the Code was slowly phased out altogether and replaced with a rating system and advisory warnings for more mature Comic Books similar to the ESRB for video games, FCC for TV shows or MPAA for films.

Blade definitely fits the mcu. U have to remember how much they’ve started setting up. The witches and wizards with wanda, dr strange, and Agatha harkness has a show coming. As well as the different monsters and monster hunters we’ve come across in werewolf by night with the bloodstone family, man thing, as well as moon knight who is also a monster hunter in the comics as well who frequently pairs with blade. Not to mention in Loki season one, mobius does mention that the tva has captured vampires before, and that they have a nightmare department. Also morbius is a Spider-Man villian who just had a movie (all be it a bad one) not to long ago, and he is a vampire. There’s ur Spider-Man connection. Lol. Blade, punisher, and ghost rider are really the only heroes that remain of the late night more rated r horror type heroes dubbed the midnight sons that haven’t been introduced. And that’s the direction the mvu seems to be pushing with these supernatural characters. Y’all have to remember how vast marvel comics is. It’s goes into every category and genre u can imagine. And the supernatural is one of them.

Then from there I saw X-Men, Spider - Man and of course Blade 2' the rest they say is history! You know who else was part of marvel for a short time' it was Godzilla from 1977 to 1979' I mention him now because he has a new movie coming out on Dec 1st called Godzilla Minus One and I hope you get around to watching the original Godzilla (1954) film before the new one comes out! He also has his own universe which even predates the MCU called in some circles as the Toho Showa Universe or TSU for short' it has a lot of both sequels and tie in films even if some of them are still mainly stand alone films with small connections to the larger TSU. He has a lot just in his first series alone' he's up to his 4 series with the Monsterverse and the new one coming out in December could be the start of a 5th series' but will have to wait to see how it pans out?

And Natalie looking great as always, especially without that eyeshadow, I can really see your eye shape now. The less is more approach is so much better on you because you have really nice shaped eyes.

36:25 Understandable. It's actually funny that you've mentioned Spider-Man because I was searching for comics where Blade had crossed over with other Marvel characters and I didn't realized he was in one episode in the original Spider-Man animated series. I didn't reconized him at first until they said his name. Unfortunately, they ton down his character for the show since it was a kid's cartoon. However, I agree. I think Blade and some of the darker Marvel characters should stay in the other side of the MCU.

Having seen this film in the cinema, it appealed to me immensely as a teenage boy as you could imagine. Even now, 20 + years later, for me it's still the absolute GOAT. You asked at the end about the serum. Despite all his strengths, Blade still has a thirst for blood. In order not to hurt or kill humans, he has a serum created to prevent that and you saw Whistler inject him with it near the beginning of the film. They did say that he was building up an immunity to it, so he needed more. As a haematologist, Karen is an expert in rare blood disorders and could theoretically create a far better serum than he previously had and that's what he asked her for at the end instead of a cure. If you're familiar with Buffy & Angel, you'll have a general idea that any substitutes for blood tend to weaken a vampire and this is shown to great effect after Blade drinks Karen's blood and goes immediately into beast mode for the finale.
