My Wife Watches *Blade* FOR THE FIRST TIME! Blade (1998) Movie Reaction & Commentary Review!

Ойын-сауық

Kacee has never seen any of the Blade movies before which are some of the few Marvel movies she has yet to watch! In this video we are reacting to Blade (1998). A half-mortal, half-immortal seeks vengeance for the death of his mother and to cleanse the world of vampires. He is pursuing modern-day technologically advanced vampires in quest of his specific blood type, which is required to summon an evil god who plays a major role in their plan to exterminate humanity.

Shame Wesley wanted this to be the start of a big franchise for Blade. Put a lot of work and effort into the character drawing from his martial arts background for the action sequences. for the 90's it was something new and different. A cool vampire that could kick ass. This was well before Underworld. different directors conflicts on the set of the third one things didn't pan out. Makes one wonder what could have been .

Everyone says RDJ was the perfect cast as Iron man but for me Wesley Snipes brought Blade to life! He had the martial-arts background to make the fights great, had the acting chops & swagger to Deliver even the stupidest oneliners with conviction and make it cool. Also that soundtrack! All hail the 90s! I don't have any hopes for the reboot cos let's face it they'll never find another black actor with Wesley Snipes martial & acting prowess but, if they don't make it Hard 'R' then simply DO NOT BOTHER.

Blade has been my favorite marvel character since I was 4 years old. I grew up on comics in the early and late 90s because of my dad, who also loved Blade. I was too young to see the movie in theaters, but because my dad had exposed me to horror at a really young age (3-4 years old) he let me watch it when it came out on VHS. I was enamored by Wesley Snipes Blade. NO ONE could have played Blade as well as Snipes did. He WAS Blade. I remember I actually believed he was the real Blade until I was old enough to understand that movies weren’t real and actors weren’t their characters. This movie series holds a special place in my heart. It was a series my dad and I bonded over. I lost him in 2018 and I’m sad that he won’t get to see the new iteration of Blade. But I’ll be there in theaters saving my dad a seat beside me knowing he’ll be there with me in spirit. I’m so excited for it.

That morale compass they once had as a human is gone. and they embrace their new lives as vampires.

Marvel Studios was started in 1992 six years before Blade and they leased their characters to Studios instead of making the movies themselves. By the time Spider-Man 2 came out Marvel had only made 62 million off the Raimi Spider-Man films which collectively made over a billion dollars. They started making their own films to get more of the profits because they were getting scraps from the studios. Pre MCU Theatrical Releases Blade made 131 million at the Box Office, Blade 2 made 155 million, Blade Trinity made 132 million, X-Men made 296 million, X2 made 407 million, Last Stand made 460 million, Fantastic Four made 333 million, FF2 made 301 million, Spider-Man made 825 million, Spider-Man 2 made 789 million, Spider-Man 3 made 895 million, Hulk made 245 million, Daredevil made 179 million, Ghost Rider made 228 million, only Punisher and Elektra did worse than Blade at the time with 57 million each at the Box Office. @Dayspring Nice idea but you're incorrect, Marvel was selling off properties (that's how Fix got the X-Men, FF etc). They were almost done until Blade proved successful allowing them to keep going, the rest is history. It's obvious you're younger, learn to just take knowledge. Only you can prevent forest fires!!!

The first modern mainstream superhero movie that kicked off the current era was "Batman" 1989. The 90's featured a lot of 2nd tier lesser-known characters adapted into movies, and there were some notable hits, (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Crow, Spawn, and The Mask) as well as some high-profile bombs (The Shadow, The Phantom) and a few that developed a cult following over time (Tank Girl, Mystery Men) All of that happened along with the Blade trilogy, culminating with X-men in 99.

Absolutely amazing! Loved your reaction, commentary and review. Thank you so much for checking out Blade. It’s one of my favourites and was one of my very first vampire films, superhero films, and even just R rated films. So it introduced to more than a few genres that I continue to love to this day. It also helped introduce me to anime, a medium that I sincerely love & cherish and has helped me in numerous ways over the years. As watching Blade (1998), led me to checking out Anime Blade (2011). It was part of Marvel Anime, that also did Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher. They were all definitely fantastic, and Anime Blade in particular was phenomenal in my opinion. For one thing, the mom stuff was handled far better, and differently & more meaningfully then Blade 98 (that shocked me too) without spoiling anything. In general it managed to strike this wonderful balance between the comics, the film series, and doing its own very enjoyable thing. So I highly recommend you guys checking it out when you have the time. Especially before seeing MCU’s Blade, even if it’s just on your own time and not a reaction. Although I would love to see a reaction for it if you can, but if not that’s completely fine & understandable too. Also, I feel the same way about both Blade II, and Blade Trinity. Blade II seemed better than 98, and I didn’t really like Trinity. Something that you may or may not be aware of is Trinity wasn’t the last of the Blade franchise. There was a sequel tv show, Blade: The Series. It wasn’t as good as Blade 98 or Blade II, but slightly better than Trinity due to some of the ideas & backstory it covered. So if you do end up watching all the way up to Trinity, you might want to consider checking out the series as well to cover the whole franchise. Which I hope you do if you can, because as even with the worst parts of Blade, there’s still some degrees of fun to be had and if nothing else you’ll appreciate the best parts all the more for their greatness. Regardless, thank you so much for everything that you both do. Keep up the great work and have a wonderful day.

More vampire movies I recommend are the Underworld films, From Dusk Til Dawn, John Carpenter's Vampires, 30 Days of Night, Fright Night, Dracula Untold, Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Van Helsing, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Daybreakers

A Daywalker is a type of vampire or half-vampire who can walk in the daylight without harm. Blade is a daywalker due to his mother being bitten and turned into a vampire while she was pregnant. He seeks vengeance on Decan Frost, the vamp who killed Blade’s mother and gave him his abilities. Drake is another daywalker. As the first vampire, he is stronger than most of his descendants. Daywalkers still have the vampiric need for blood; Blade staves this off using injections of a special serum, but over time his body builds up a tolerance to it and he has to develop a new one. Whistler states that Blade also ages like a normal human would. Vampires have a much lower body heat signature than humans, particularly apparent when viewed through a heat vision scanner, but Blade gives off the normal heat signature of a human.
