Just so you know, in gow2 you can use the blade for the full game in ng+

It was nerfed in the Vahalla DLC because it's not actually the Blade of Olympus. It's just a apparition created by Vahalla and Krato's imagination.

Kratos looks super expressive as his younger self in this game and it’s led to enhancing some super fun character moments between him Sindri and Brok.

@@taddad2641 doubt, seems outlandish and shoe horned in fan service with lack luster story reasoning for it being there, it’s better if it stays a remnant of the Greek games BUT I think it should be an endgame reward or a completion reward that way it doesn’t affect the story and we get to have fun with the blade of Olympus, think about it what better 100% completion reward would there be then the blade of Olympus a true staple of the series.

@@randompotato7932 kratos was also able to summon it outside of the visionary plane and summon it against tyr who also could summon weapons from nothing, it also says in describiption (to invoke a a weapon of legacy at will) and what that means is to summon a weapon of heritage or legacy at his own will (using his brain)

@@randompotato7932 well actually, there is good reason for it being canon and an actual weapon in the game, 1. it’s a rage ability and cory barlog has always stated the rage mechanics to be canon. 2. it’s confirmed that kratos does have some of the power of hope left over in him, meaning he could be manifesting the power of hope to summon a weaker version of the blade of olympus, this isn’t too far fetched since gods of war like tyr and ares could summon weapons at “will”

Okay so quick comparison: - No more bull charge run :( - Smash Wave lacks the oomph from GoW III but it remains effective at multi-target as always. - Line Wave is stronger in GOWR. No longer send Kratos so far past his target and instead fires a cone in front of him, feels more reliable, and knock up is very nice. - PLEASE LET MY BRO JUMP ONCE, PLEASE - Trading invuln for refueling the blade with parries is nice. Makes the Blade last for hours when built into it remotely. - Laser is actually very useful. Travels faster than the Axe. Only wished that the Blade electrocuted on hit. Glad to see the Blade of Olympus back in Kratos' hands. Yes, the Blade may not be the real deal, but I think it's a sign of Kratos fully accepting his place as the God of War, which was his whole journey. He needed to accept that what he was, was. He cannot change that. But what he can do is be better from it. By accepting the challenge of Valhalla, and overcoming its trials, he does not need the Blade anymore, only the power it offers in his hand, to accomplish his task. Kratos wil cleave apart whatever to unify the realms.

You can do a jump attack like the old games in the new games. When u jump of a ledge if u attack just like normal u do a ground slam like u can do with the blades spear axe and fist

the Blade technically have an air attack like what you show in God of War III footage which can executed by dropping from the ledge or after the grapple point

I need the glowing sound effect of the blade

For the air attacks in Valhalla it’s the same animation when you fall of a ledge and press r1

Wouldn’t there be a falling attack, from when you jump down from a ledge onto an enemy in GOWR that would mimic the jump attack in GOW3? I haven’t tested it but maybe that’s where we can find the comparison.

I knew about the air attack when I tested it when I was jumping over an edge

I wonder if he will ever actually have it in the future...

With the new game's combat system in mind, the Blade was implemented perfectly. Perhaps even better than previous games. Because unlike those games and the Fury Spartan Rage, it's no longer just an unga bunga turn your brain off and mash the attack button until you win. It's a fourth weapon with it's own parry and ranged abilities. You still have to pay attention while using it. Also FYI, the new one does have an air attack. You just forgot it exists.

As we see in GoW3 it does not matter where Kratos leaves the blade of Olympus he can summon at once whenever and wherever he wishes to.

In gow 3, the blade felt so heavy like ı myself was carrying the damn thıng. And here in Valhalla ? it feels like ım holding a fruit knife.

Kratos just gets stronger as he gets older. The reason the blade feels "weaker" is because it is not the real thing but a replica Kratos summons from his memories. Also because speed adjustments for balance and yk, weighty. Granted, a greatsword in reality isn't slow at all.

One thing god of war did that was different than the myths though is that every generation of god is stronger than the last. For example the primordial gods like Nyx and Chaos although being responsible for creation and formation of reality were considered weaker combatants than their offspring the titans and the same for the titans with the olympians. It’s why there’s this whole cycle in the god of war series of gods killing their parents.

It’s the same but the old is slow and the young is fast

Wtf man :)) Legacy Rage is even weaker than Kratos Bare hand attacks (Early game). It seems like it hits with Enemy’s Percentage health regardless of Levels. While GoW 3 Rage literally takes only a few hit for All Enemies types.

I thought everyone knows Blade of Olympus had air attacks, every weapon does.

The different thing is the Blade of Olympus actually deal damage in Valhala while the Blade in GOW III hit like a wet noodle on harder difficulty. Valhalla version is much better because it can actually deal good damage, with a good build the blade can stay active for the entire boss fight. It's slower, but provides more move set and fair in term of gameplay.

Well.....the Blade of Olympus was apparently drained of its powers after Kratos impaled himself to return Hope to Greece. It’s possible that Valhalla was only able to reconstruct the weakened base level Blade of Olympus, rather than the powered up version that had Kratos’s Godly powers plus all others he absorbed.

Young Kratos isn’t stronger. Norse Kratos just holds back. Greek gods get stronger with age

Physically stronger? Yeah. More disciplined? Yeah But not more powerful, what makes the young Kratos more powerful in general is that he had an enormous amalgam of divine powers and weapons that made him versatile in any situation and against any opponent, he also had the true Sword of Olympus and the complete power of the hope. And that thing about Greek Gods getting stronger with age is a pure fandom invention, not even Cory Barlog said that, age does not add or subtract power from a Greek god.

The director of Ragnarok doesnt actually believe that. He said Kratos is back to full strength after training in Fimblewinter.
