Blackstar | Katana FPV flight controller setup & install

Ойын-сауық

In this video we show you how to setup a basic model with our new Katana FPV flight controller. For this demo we are using the new Freewing 8s Zeus. Katana is a one of a kind flight controller, Gyro stabilizer with FPV games & DJI on screen display (OSD). Katana can be used with a variety of sensors to give you all the flight data and telemetry you need to control your airplane with confidence. Katana features the most advanced stabilization system available.
Not only is the gyro inertial based but it also uses external sensors like GPS and airspeed to stabilize. Katana flight controller features 2x FPV games. you can build and design your own FPV race course and race your friends or challenge your best friends to a dog fight in the air. Want to find out who the true ACE in your flying group is? only one way to find out...KATANA by BLACKSTAR!

Interesting, and very smooth UI for setup. Are there any options for Autotune, or do you have to adjust PID values manually? Is is Mavlink compatible? Terrain following? well at any rate, nice to see alternatives to Inav and Arduplane being developed.

Thanks! Katana is intended specifically for small scale RC airframes, with designs grossly out of alignment with their low Reynolds numbers. In a contrast with a typical well-behaved FPV platform, this mismatch makes some warbirds and EDF jets almost diabolical to handle, mostly because of deficiencies in the static/dynamic stability. Katana helps with that. We also needed a way to avoid crashes caused by radio/video signal losses. Katana's a/p is there for these eventualities, to keep the model in the pattern established for a particular R/C field without causing traffic disruptions. Plus, of course, OSD with telemetry and entertainment options for dogfighting and racing. And we just added a power switch for the VTX to prevent overheats on the ground, this happens a lot on hot summer days and causes aborted takeoffs, e.g. while waiting for a busy runway to clear. Everything in a small enough form factor to fit into a typical 4s racer and simple enough to setup for an RC hobbyist. Autotune might be coming in the future, for now we are just building a library of popular models, so everyone will have a good starting point for gain settings. Professional grade flight autonomy will require more computing power and sensor fidelity. If we do this we wouldn't stop at terrain following. Most likely it will be a blend of full-on high speed SLAMing with depth perception AI to about a half a click range to tackle constrained airspace in urban environments, always a tempting challenge :-). Thank you for the kind words again, happy someone understands the complexity of making things like this simple.
