Jennie does have some sort of tone in her voice. She is just crazy talented. Rose' is OUTRAGEOUSLY fabulous!! Jisoo and Lisa are both also crazy talented. What is interesting here is how each of them is backing up the others. You can physically see them singing under each others part.

Yes, that verse at the end was their own. They explained that during their training they had to perform a different cover every month for the CEO and managers. This was one that they had been praised on, which is why they chose to perform it on the show.

They did this cover of "Sure Thing" 8 months after Debut... Party People was a TV show hosted by JYP. As in man behind JYP Entertainment Corporation. It's nice to see and hear how far they've come. This was not too long after their debut. At that time, I agree Rose was a more well-rounded singer. Rose and Jisoo had more vocal control and ear training at that time. This was nearly 6 years ago and it's beautiful to hear the growth in their vocal abilities. As a group, you can see how comfortable and cohesive they've become performing live. You can witness the growth at their last concert a few years ago. NOW? Whoa! What a major difference, especially with Lisa than with Jennie. You can hear it in PINK VENOM. The confidence is there more than ever. They all sound amazing together. Honestly, I have know this cover for years and this is one of my fave Blackpink cover. I am still watching and listening to this until now. The way they harmonized the song was a blessing to my ear and the rap part that Lisa and Jennie wrote, was so 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jennie has a very commanding voice when she raps but when applied to singing, she sets the tone, the mood, the "color and action" to the song from the onset. That is why I believed she was usually tasked to start off most of BlackPink songs. All of them are excellent singers each with their own flavor but when put them together the way they do it, it's magical, no passengers, no wastages, no loafers in this super group.😊

Jennie's tone is so rich and full thats why it's so captivating. She definitely doesnt have the rhythm of a real vocalist but if she worked more on it, she could develop as one.

Watching this performance is good to give you a point of comparison to how much all of them have evolved over the years. To give a context, this show followed closely their debut, it was all about giving them the opportunity to prove themselves by showcasing their personal talents and strenghts as a group. That's because have become an instant hit right from their debut, there were a lot of criticisms and doubts if they were just a high budged manufacturated group by YG or the real deal. So they put together this cover with rap parts written by Lisa and Jennie, as well a dance performance to Beyoncé's 'Partition' (having Jisoo, the most criticized by her dance skills at the time, as the center). If you wanna watch them singing live in a similar setting but more recently, you can check out their "Love to Hate + You'll Never Know" performance from last year's online concert called "The Show". kzread.info/dash/bejne/qoagtdptZqmfZMY.html Another recommendation to appreciate their vocals in full form is their last song before the comeback: "Ready for Love". They released a MV for it in partneship with a game company about a month ago. This song showcases how incredible hard their vocals can go. Btw... Lisa could always sing (this is why she debuted as sub vocalist) although in a group with three strong vocalists she ended up fitting more easily into the roles of rapper and dancer, it has been very rewarding to watch her development over the years, becoming more confident and comfortable with her vocals even to the point of carrying two very successful solo songs on her own. Jennie, on the other hand, has actually diminished her rapper role in the group to take on more and more of a vocalist role due to her very powerful and stable vocals (that's why we always go crazy every time "main rapper Jennie" comes back), girl could easily be main vocalist or a solo artist any day of the week. That been said, Rosé and Jisoo have also improved their already skilled vocals. You can check out Rose's and Jennie's solo releases: Jennie's 'Solo' and Rose's 'On the Ground' and 'Gone' as well as Jisoo's cover of "Clarity".

I will cut & paste what you said about Jennie's vocals, and apply them to Lisa. Though she may not be as technically skilled as the other members when it comes to singing, I just love her tone, and she is certainly a capable singer. This is the performance that locked me in as a Blink, because it highlights their talent without all of the visuals. And though the other 3 get the more "showy" sections, Jisoo really impressed me with her harmonies, and led me to realize more about her role in the group. If you want another song to highlight their vocals, I think the 2 best are "You Never Know" and "Don't Know What To Do". Neither has an official M/V, but there are lyric videos and performances of both, and "Don't Know What To Do" is one of my fave dance practice videos. Cheers!

Yup. This suited Jisoo voice so much

It makes sense that you prefer Rosé for vocals. After all, she's the main vocalist. She has good range, vibrato, and a unique voice. Jisoo (along with Jennie) are Lead Vocals which comes second. Jisoo also has decent range and singing skills, but I think her tone is what appeals to me. It is full and her speaking voice can be husky. You don't see deeper voices much in pop music. And Jennie's just an ace who can do everything if she tried 😁 Lisa is a sub-vocalist but her singing voice is good and disney-princess-like. There are a few tracks where her singing just surprised me since she's known for rapping and dancing.

In 2017, As If It's Your Last was the only song they released and promoted so it was the year they did the most cover songs. Sure Thing was a song they put together in their trainee days and was the first song the big boss complimented them on. They also covered So Hot. In the original m/v they were making fun of the popular girls but they turned it into a female empowerment song. They also covered Big Bang's Loser during a radio station interview. If your looking for chronilogical order, these two should be next.

6:26 “is this an added verse that they just threw in the song?” People very familiar with Miguel’s song always have the same question. I said the same thing the first time I watched this video. And I love that they made it theirs/their version and not just a cover, start to finish.

Honestly, I think Lisa can sing but BlackPink doesn't choose songs that suit her singing voice. Their songs appear to be tailor made for Jenny with Rosé as backup. Jenny seems to start and end the majority of their songs. Having watched some of their process in the documentary, I think they probably try out different parts and then choose the person they feel does the best on each section, but the producer they work with has a certain style which fits Jenny best. I bet if someone sat down and counted, Jenny would have the most lines overall followed by Rosé. Each girl always gets her own section but I would love to someday see them utilize Jisoo and Lisa more by having them provide harmonies behind the other 2 girls. I think Lisa's singing voice would harmonize extremely well given the type of music they release.

It’s kind of sad to hear that you think somebody wrote the rap part just for Lisa so she can rap and because she doesn’t sing..if you truly know Lisa you would understand how talented and hardworking she is and she is very kind hearted person. If you only see some part from her dance mentor and make you think she is mean, that is so not true. You should react to Lisa documentary that the fans put it together, you will know who she really is and why people love her so much and why she is the most popular idol among the group. I never said specifically that someone wrote the rap for her. If you listen to understand and not to dissect you’ll hear that I said they prolly told her to add a rap in to give her a part in the song since it’s predominantly a vocal song..& from the few videos I’ve seen she raps not sings. Now will she sing in the future songs I’ll hear from them?! Probably, but I ain’t hear it yet. Also when did I say Lisa was mean?! You doing a lot for a lil bit. Chill out

Rosé has a lot of amazing covers. She even gets praise often from the original artists. Halsey, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Coldplay, and more have all acknowledged her covers of their songs. Halsey and her became friends after her cover, John Mayer sent her a guitar when she covered him.

I'm thinking the same thing about their voices fit and sound good in different songs. Sometimes Rosé took the song vocally sometimes Jisoo and vice versa for Jennie and Lisa on rap parts.

Lisa and Jennie did write in the rapping parts. But HOLD UP on Lisa not being much of a singer,...There are some pretty impressive arguements in her favor I'm sure Blinks will direct you to. Just LOVE her voice
