Bruno never understood that the project wasn't about if he was a racist or not, but to acknowledge that we live in a world that racism exist. He said you just got to move on and you do, but that doesn't disregard the fact that some have privileges others don't. He felt some type of way when he experienced the racism and the shoe was on the other foot.

@Shelly Genevieve Oh....so you wanted Bruno, to acknowldge that Brian is a poor defenseless victim, that cant defend himself as a man agaist racism? Or do something about it? You wanted Bruno to infantilize Brian and treat him, like a boy or a baby, and not a fully functioning adult, that doesnt need to always play the race card or constantly make him a pathetic victim to "racism"?

Ikr. That's why I'd argue when someone says this is a good show. It's entertaining and a good jumping off point for conversation. A good show/shorunners/producers would have adapted to the vibes both families were putting out. Oh, nick isn't responding to our activities/ettiquette class, why not let him sit in the poetry class. Bruno keeps making comments about "just get a job" why not make him try and get one. Brian got the bartending gig, the ladies asked for application forms during their shopping spree. And so on.

I find it interesting that Rose and Nick got along until she started hanging out with the guy she's crushing on in her poetry class. I mean, idk what went on behind the scenes, but it is odd they were getting along on camera until after her crushing on and going out with that guy. I saw Nick putting his arm behind her in the photography class (idk if they were taking a photo together or if it was for another reason) then he was trying to show off big spending at the mall in front of her and they seemed like they were getting along great.

I thought it was after the ettiquette class scolding from his parents. He's young and he doesn't understand the difference between his parents saying those kids were stepping over a boundary and judging everyone like those kids in the same way. Thats what I saw. He thinks his parents don't want him to have white friends at all and he's black so he will never be treated equal.

Because she’s too mature for him and is more communicative and knows how to express herself. Nick is the opposite that’s why she quickly moved on from him and likes the guy from the poetry class. That kid is the male version of her and engages interesting dialogues with her . Also It didn’t help the fact he’s kicked out of school , getting in troubles and was letting the white kids walk all over him. Dunno that’s what I observed from their interactions.

Nick is so disconnected and immature on this series. I hope he grew up, got his head together, and maybe some therapy. He seems so shut down and I am unable to tell if its because of being on the tv show or something else. I get tired of colorblind Rosie and find her sense of entitlement a bit unpalatable. However, I find Rosie's engagement somewhat authentic which is good. Carmen's issues are white fragility and even more so partnering with Bruno. Bruno was wrong for this show; he seems to enjoy trying to hurt and humiliate people and is very mean-spirited. Further, Bruno's gaslighting is so toxic. I hope Carmen escaped from him.

I'm no parent or psychologist, and I definitely haven't seen everything Nick's parents have. So as an ignorant outsider, I wonder if there was a lot of misplacement on how upset they were with Nick for letting the white kids use the N-word. I feel like that was actually probably Nick just have a zero valuation of his own self worth. I don't know how much he really needed to be educated about racism and the roots of black history. I suspect he probably already has a really solid understanding on some of those things. As terrible as Carmen is, she seemed to be picking up on something about how what Nick really needed was companionship and inspiration.

In conclusion I believe Renee hating Carmen was planned, like yes Carmen did do some unacceptable inappropriate things like how she addressed the young lady as creature and asking if the young man was gay or straight. But it’s clear that Renee’s only bitter toward Carmen because of the B-word she said that was on the exercise paper. I believe they did this on purpose for her to hate Carmen because in no way is the B-word ever allowed to be used as a greeting towards anybody. They kinda did Renee dirty here by portraying her as a stereotypical angry black woman with that exercise sheet situation. But I still don’t think that’s a proper reason to hate someone, the production definitely did this on purpose to stir in unnecessary drama between the two mothers.

Yeah, tbh, I didn't hate Carmen. Bruno was irredeemable. I've seen people comparing Bruno to Micheal Scott, but I don't think so. Micheal is naive and ignorant, well meaning, and those traits make him a likeable and charming character. Bruno is ignorant, but not in a well meaning way. He definitely has some maliciousness in this personality. I think Carmen is actually more similar to Micheal. She says and does some stupid and racist things, but I don't think there's malicious intent. She is just not the brightest and ignorant. Her saying "Hey, bitch!" is such a Micheal move. So is the "beautiful black creature", as cringey and racist as that was, that was pure Micheal energy.

Black dad is so praying for white dad to see racism, he refuses to realize white dad refuses to even acknowledge it because he knows it well. The moms as natural educators refused to learn from and educate each other.

I think it’s an odd mixture of nick being v closed off and probably fed up with the intrusiveness of everyone ( its a show, its not just rose’s action that affects him, the whole cast, staff and the general production process is a big factor) also rose has a certain arrogance when things don’t turn out the way she expects it to, and it comes off a lot as white entitlement if someone doesn’t want to interact with you, it should be respected and accepted, even if the person is acting like a jerk
