Part of black sub-culture, the greater part in neuro-biological terms, is its relatively lower social-economic-status (SES). As Sapolsky explains in "Behave", based on his review of research, this is a critical determinant of intellectual development, on average...always some exceptions. Hence, the goal must be to improve the SES of blacks in America, but it's a vicious cycle today with their culture in low SES mode making it so hard for people trapped in it to rise out of it. So, the great question is how to get that done. So far, it seems clear that government efforts have not been successful. What's the right way to get it done?

It can only be done from within the community. They need to be put on the right path from a young age. It starts at home.

@@InkedCarpenter1776 Agreed, what happens in the home is critical, but right now, what happens in the home is where the problems often begin or get amplified because the home is already warped by the unhealthy culture, by the vicious circle of low SES.

Sapolsky apparently hasn't studied the Bible. Jesus said from his own mouth: "The poor you will always have among you." The dynamics of rich, poor, and in between has always existed, but according to the Bible, in the end, there will only be the super-rich (few) and the super-poor (many). So the "war on poverty", Sapolsky, government, liberals, and everyone else is asking the wrong questions & worrying about all the wrong things. Extreme poverty is coming to YOU, yes YOU, and it will be here very soon. If you haven't turned away from sin & away from the things of this world, do it quickly! Time is running out. If you haven't turned toward the God who created you and accepted Jesus as the Son of God who gave himself as a living sacrifice to save you, do it quickly! Time is running out. Stop wasting time trying to figure out how to cure black poverty when ALL of you, of EVERY color, are about to be poor. Everything in the Bible has held true over millenniums. You can count on it. "The poor you will always have among you."

@@osirismalu3394 Yes, I'm sure that in many cases there is no real home (My own father grew up in such a situation.), just a place of residence. That's what a vicious cycle does...destroys all the relationships caught up in it. There are however always a few folks who get lucky, who have something in their lives that helps them break out of the cycle. What we need to do is find ways to make a lot more people have a bit of "luck", make their luck for them...understand what that "luck" is, what kinds of things can help people break out of the cycle. Many things can happen without any governmental involvement, but surely the government could come up with some policies that would actually work, instead of the many failed policies so far, if only the politicians would listen to scholars like Sowell.

We just need to take action …. The problem is we want everyone with common sense and integrity to be leaders …. What good is one good leader with integrity and knowledge of the people are ignorant… we need the multitudes that use critical thinking skills and have integrity and knowledge in action .. that’s when change come
