Black Star - So Be It (Official Music Video)
Музыка
Listen to No Fear of Time on Bandcamp - blackstarnofearoftime.bandcam...
On Saturday, November 12 , 2022, we joined host Dave Chappelle on SNL as musical guests.
"So Be It" was one of the first songs Black Star recorded with Madlib for No Fear Of Time so it definitely set the tone of the project early on. The song is a lyrical exercise, bars on bars, but we are not rhyming for the sake of riddling as the great Chuck D might say. This song is a call to action. It's a prayer. It's a manifesto.
- The visuals that accompany it are simple, but strong. Our value is in our performance and how we connect with our audience. We wanted to provide a visual that showcases that for the core fans.
- I'm a fan of comedy and I grew up on SNL so this is a career milestone for sure. I can't recall seeing a more hip-hop, a more independent group than Black Star to ever do SNL, so I'm definitely excited to represent for the culture.

I never knew that was from a Bollywood movie. I first heard it as part of the opening theme to the "American Dad" episode "Tearjerker" (one of two episodes that parodied the James Bond movies. The other one is "For Black Eyes Only").

When he's rapping he still Mos Def to me. He can be Yasin Bay in his private life. Respectfully.
Through their music, Black Star taught me as a teenager that it was ok to be myself, when I didn't fit into the norm. Years later, that was one of the greatest lessons that I have ever learned and its made me who I am today. And for that, I am forever grateful to them.

@@romilrh Yes you are! Produced the first Gorillaz album, as well as both Deltron 3030 and the Dr. Octagon Records. He's done work with Tribe (b-side remixes) and is half of HBMS with Prince Paul. He also has a fantastic underrated album with Mike Patton, Jennifer Charles and Kid Koala called Lovage. He's been everywhere, yet no one knows his name. I think these days he does movie soundtracks.
Everyone sayin this album needs to be on Vinyl, they're right, but you know where else it needs to be? Tape! The bassiness of the album, the abrasive high-ends, the dark, airy feel. Shit'd sound amazing on a good ole cassette.
That first BlackStarr album was a foundational moment in my life💪🏾👌🏾
Let's all pray for a vinyl release soon! Such a killer album, brutally awesome cover art! This is already a timeless classic!

Dave Chappelle brought them out in Palm Springs, I was working the event but best believe I was tapping this and the black star tracks they were bumping. Got paid to karaoke essentially, fucking timeless. BEY!
Big shout out to Kalyanji-Anandji who composed the original music for the sample. It was made for a 70's gangster flick called 'Don' (this was the theme music) starring Amitabh Bachchan. The loop digger strikes again.
