Everyone in Sabbath is great in this song but Bill Ward totally GOES OFF! He is, hands down, the most underrated, underappreciated, etc. drummer in the history of rock music.

Not it my book. It was him and Bonham that inspired me at 10 years old to pick up the sticks. Lots of great drummers but Wards tom work blew my mind

Sabbath is so much more than “metal”.

Bill Ward has said this was one of his favorites to play. You can see why He's phenomenal. That gallop part is one of my fav moments in rock.

To understand the impact that Black Sabbath had, u have to take yourself back to the 50's when radio was the only source of music, and records that u heard were your parents' collections... U heard those show tunes and the artists were stars like Bing Crosby and Doris Day, singing these intricate harmonies and calming songs... U had jazz, blues, country western, rockabilly, classical and operatic music. That was it. Then, u got an Elvis Presley record in 1956/ '57 and u heard this sound when his song 'Blue suede shoes' that got u on your feet and ready and dance & jive! That was how rock n' roll spoke to a whole generation across the world from America. Nothing like that was happening anywhere else in the world... This guitar music accompanied w/ drums, bass and piano, sung by this sex symbol guy, who all the girls wanted and all the guys wanted to be. All of a sudden, u got a string of American artists that were ready to boogie and play rock n' roll music... It p!ssed off parents and delighted the kids. That was rock n' roll music. U had Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran... Nothing would ever be the same again. In England, the kids listening to rock n' roll music grew wild about it and picked up guitars themselves to play music... The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who... all got up to the sounds of rock n' roll music. They took it to the next level. But by the end of the 60's, u had the hippie music scene... all about peace & love, and getting stoned. If you were living the hard life and facing harsh realities of war, poverty, instability, pollution, apathy and violence... that floral crap made no sense to you. In the middle of that, there comes this band that does not look or sound like anybody out there... singing about horrible and hollow life, and u can immediately feel what they are playing... u hear what they are saying, just like the kids in the 50's felt when they heard rock n' roll music! That was what Black Sabbath did when they dropped onto the scene in 1970. After Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix... Black Sabbath was the band that embodied a seismic shift in rock n' roll music - it became something new, that got the tag 'heavy metal' (even though they fancied the term 'hard rock') and changed the music scene forever. To this day, the music and influence of Black Sabbath can tie generations together cos their sound from the 70's still resonates... Just as The Beatles still get acclaim to this day from every spectrum of pop music.

KIng Crimson 21st Century Szcoid man was also an example of early Metal , however group didnt go that way live Earthbound great recording . That said Sabbath grasped the metal and I'm one of their original fans

Black Sabbath - is that kind of an "artefact" all scientists explorers dream to fnd. I mean THAT type of Artefact that "explains it all". Like before you experience Black Sabbath you feel like you "know it all", but when you discover what these people were doing back then - all your previous knowledge is being seen in a different light. Like, oh, my god, now I know whare are "all of the roots". I am not sure we can say that "ALL" the roots of metal are in BSabbath, but it seems like "almost all" the roots are there. And that where we all take our hats off. And praise the godfathers )

Has always been my favorite Sabbath song. The riffs and riding bass line are absolutely insane

Not according to Geezer Butler. Geezer wrote the song about someone taking Heroin/injectable drugs because of what he was witnessing "According to Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, he was inspired to write "Hand of Doom" after meeting American soldiers who were so emotionally scarred by the Vietnam War that they started using heroin. "Instead of going back to America, they'd have to have a half-way house and there was one in Germany and one in England," he told IGN in 2010. "We go talking to the soldiers and they were in a terrible state and telling me that a lot of them were doing heroin."

This is not a song this is a experience genius guys

This is by far my favorite song and the first song I learned how to play as a matter of fact this album was the first album I bought back in the 70s damn I'm old 😂😂

Actually I think that Sabbath was the greatest pro-Christian artists too. Maybe in paradox way like St. Augustine but anyway

It is good that now, people could put things in proper perspective... For me, Black Sabbath is the purest form of heavy metal, it is not my favorite genre, but I can appreciate their true musicians vibes...
