What I don’t understand is that there is an ACTUAL g*nocide/ ethnic c*eansing ongoing in Darfur, Sudan, with Arabs (Janjaweed) k*lling ethnic BLACKS and I have not seen one college protest, or even one college student, or “influencer” talk about it. Is it because the aggressor is not white? (I tried to post this same comment under a different account but it got deleted. Hopefully sensitive YT will be ok now with the asterisks 🙄)

@@bunnyboo6295 The basis of "silence is violence" *was* group identity though. It was used to intimidate white people into supporting BLM. So it doesn't matter now who specifically said what, just the same as it didn't matter who was responsible for the "systemic racism" then. That's the point here. That's what is being criticized: action based on group identity only leads to more bad faith, mistrust and tension between groups. People have been criticizing this mentality all along because it's always just a license to treat an entire group as though they are represented primarily by their bad actors.

She absolutely was right. Only a few police brutality cases become high profile every year due to Black people and others specifically protesting after they see it. If people don't protest, it's swept under the rug and if Black people stop talking about it, it's forgotten after a week Floyd is a perfect example of this. The police were literally sweeping his death under the rug and it was BLM that continued to carry his story around until something was actually done about his death It took BLM protests rising up in every part of the country, multiracial movement in every city in every state for over a year for Derek Chauvin to finally got prosecuted for George Floyd's. People putting Black squares and making Black out Tuesdays on Instagram so that people didn't forget after a week(disingenuous people tried making fun of the "White women putting up squares" acting like they weren't doing activism which is stupid because they were bringing awareness while the people criticizing weren't bringing or doing anything, but judging others) Yes, it absolutely means that Black news doesn't make headlines if a cop doesn't get arrested for their crimes unless the entire country rises up and says they should. Also, BLM resonated with minority/persecuted in many parts of the world so they also started their own versions of BLM to protest police discrimination in their own countries. Are we going to forget Australia's troubled history with its Aborigines(who are called Black in Australia) or the racism against East and South Asian Australia or NorthEast African(South Sudanese) Australians? America isn't the only problem with ethnocentrism/racism.

Speaking of black silence: Stockton, Alabama has an 89.5% White population, a 7.82% black population and 2.7% non-hispanic other population. May 13, 2024, Stockton, Alabama; A community picnic with over 1,000 black people in attendance ended in a mass shooting. Three were killed and another fifteen wounded, overwhelming local emergency rooms. There has been no mention in the national media. There have been no marches, no riots, no memorials, no monuments, no comment from blm, the naacp, or the Congressional black Caucus. No one in Congress has taken a knee. Ben Crump hasn't raced to the scene to file million dollar lawsuits for any of the victims or their families. It's easy to google this mass shooting. Two black males have been arrested and others are being sought by law enforcement. The liberal media isn't going to plaster this in the headlines. It doesn't fit the narrative.

Violence against block people? What is she talking about? He was saying that if black Americans were hostages, everyone in this country would be demanding that they return safely, and unharmed, or we will flex that American military muscle until that happens. And he’s right. He used an analogy to make a point. And in the hypothetical “scenario”, what he said means that Americans not only protect their own. But that all Americans(any race) would be demanding the safe return of their fellow Americans. Who, in his analogy, happen to be black. And he’s right. But to the deeper point he is speaking on. I have no opinion, other than the idea that everyone needs to be involved in everything that’s going on in the world, at all times, and offer an opinion or take a stance, on every single issue, is a disease of the mind. Subjectively, and objectively.

Yeah, that's a fair perspective. However, I think the point is that the black and Hispanic community were so vocal when we wanted support, yet we are silent when terrorists murder innocents. It was like no matter what anyone did, it was never enough. The hypocrisy bewilders me. I just am astonished where people get their history or news from. Not quite certain where they get their info. Palestine is not occupied, and Gaza is not oppressed. The fact that people believe terrorist propoganda is insane to me! I think it's the hypocrisy. That's the point. Some within the Black Community went hard against people who they felt weren't supporting them.

I've seen this guy on Twitter. I saw a lot of people saying keep black people out of it, which is ironic, seeing how many black people are treating Palestinians to themselves. I've even seen many black people on Twitter saying that there are black people in Israel and how Americans don't care about them. The guy was talking about African Americans, not African Israelis. The first black lady responding to this guy is funny, because typically when white people or men are generalized, we'll call it out only to have the person generalizing say, "If you're not that kind of person, then this isn't about you." Of course, going back to what I said so I can answer that woman's question, "How did we end up in it?" Again, many black people compared themselves to the Palestinians. And it's funny she mentioned the LGBT part, because I recall the "Queers for Palestine" boards. And of course the question about Hamas has been asked because many people on the left support Hamas for some reason. Wait, we already know that reason.

If someone doesn't want to participate in protest or activism but is on your side, that's someone you don't have to worry about. I've tried to tell people about issues and many times it falls on deaf ears. Why would I keep at people who won't ever agree? I've met people who said something racist and if I challenge them, that's an hour of arguing that doesn't convince them of anything. So I gave up. I'm too old for marches, my back hurts. Sorry. If there's silent support, if they vote the right way, that's good enough. The lines are drawn and those on the other side have hardened up. The Israel-Palestine situation is a mess and others have tried to solve it for decades. But yes, you young kids will solve it right now. Amazing. Love that young people have the idealism and enthusiasm but I did when I was young too and my generation didn't get it done either. And not all blacks know all human difficulties. Africa has higher cultural and ethnic diversity than any other continent, and African-Americans come from different walks of life with different viewpoints. Not all of you are experts or on (or qualified to be trusted when speaking about) racism, apartheid, slavery, oppression, merely by being black, as oppressive experiences are different, and not all have even truly experienced them. BLM already made a statement supporting Palestine, as did other black organizations. As often happens with issues like this, the entire AA community unfortunately got pulled into it. But to blame others is ignorance. The AA community is now involved because it took this burden upon itself.
