Black Parking Worker Says ‘Mother and Son Karens’ Harassed Him

A mother and son are being called a “Karen Duo” after an interaction with a Black worker in their Tennessee apartment building’s garage went viral. Johnny Martinez works for a company that boots illegally parked cars, and says that he was just doing his job when the mother and son confronted him, demanding that he identify himself. “Immediately I thought I was being racially profiled,” he told Inside Edition. Then, the son swiped at Martinez’s phone. When cops arrived, they arrested the son on assault charges.

“UBS has parted ways with a financial advisor after a video of her reporting a Black man in a parking garage surfaced, according to news reports. Bitsy Brennan, who became registered as a broker and investment advisor with UBS in 2007, is no longer with the firm as of December 7, FA-IQ sister publication FundFire writes, citing BrokerCheck. A UBS spokesperson told the publication that Brennan ‘is no longer employed at the firm.’ “

Usually high rise buildings have someone at the lobby desk who knows what's going on. They should have asked if someone was working the garage instead of confrontation. They probably got an email about parking scoff laws and enforcement but no one reads emails anymore.
