I adore Zack's approach to DC with his mythological approach, but I also love James' approach. Fully accepting of the ridiculousness and the nature of the comic books. Looking to Peter David's Aquaman as inspiration for the character, but the silver age for the stories and solo movies was genius. Truly the best of both worlds.

For once I love how they have a reason for his helmet to be that big also it's nice to see a villain suit up for once

Aquaman was amazing, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II nailed the role of Black Manta, I liked how his character was more of a anti hero and not a straight up villain, the Black Manta suit looked incredible 👏👏👏

Gotta say this is so memorable. They didn't have to address his suit creation so literally, but I remember this being the first official image teaser from the film and its satisfaction.

@@nathanielmccormack4830 here's the thing though : first i'm not a comic fan nor a dc/marvel movie maniac, i just say things the way i see it and this costum for a movie is tacky. second, what works for comic media doesn't necessarily means it still works for cinema. 2D animation is very different with 3D moving media. that's why some live-action film is often boring, they can't bring out the emotion that 2D media allows them to because 3D is much more constricting. a good example is lion king live action, the original feels alot more lively and you could really see the expressions of each character because well they're cartoon, while the "live-action" remake can't compare because they're constricted by realism. if they can't adapt how the costume looks for movie adaptation even just a little bit, then that's not staying true to the comics, that's just lazy design. plus as alot of people have said in this comment section already : the movie itself is fun and not bad for a movie night, but the costume looks cheap for an aqua man movie. if this was a power rangers movie however this would fit in nicely, but it's not. some scenes are welldone while others look rushed. as someone on this comment section have already said, "this movie manages to look high budget and low budget at the same time." and with 25k likes, he's not the only one who thinks that way.

What I really love about this movie is Black Manta's character, they made him so great. Revenge fuelled to kill Aquaman, and is given the weaponry and armour from a Villain who also hates Aquaman, giving us explanation to how Black Manta got his iconic look and battlesuit

I like the idea of him having to call them back, "yeah, I broke it." Then a second more disdainful scene on the beach of them bringing another set of armor and weapons.

I like how he's smart enough to craft and modify advance tech without even knowing how it works

They could have just with a few lines explain early in the film that he was a genius as engineer maybe even throw in a line where he said the only thig limiting his abilities is this "low" technology. Black manta was really the best thing to come out with him designing his own variation of his own unique style Of his suit, literally wanting to see more from Black manta own movie would've been really a nice how his character development would've hold up really good.

The Atlantans also trusted him enough to hire him twice, so there is confirmation of history there. Maybe he stole or was given Atlantan tech at one point or another.

You got to respect that he was able to do all of that to technology coming from outside his knowledge. If he wasn’t a pirate he could be one of their scientists or engineers. For any of the worlds

I enjoyed seeing this back in 2018 awesome movie from start to finish this was one of my favorite scenes

Bao Anh Nguyen I did as you suggested and yes, the water does seem to move itself, but he definitely makes contact with the water. I played it at 0.25 just to see and it does. I guess they just didn’t think it was important, I mean I’m here analyzing why water doesn’t drench Yahya Abdul-Mateen II 😂😂

It really shows off how brilliant he is. And frankly, someone like this could be an insane threat to the JL. I mean, imagine if he gets his hands on Kryptonian tech (which may not be too difficult if, say, they have some pieces of armor left around from the MoS encounter)

He could have had a huge reward. But he didn't want it. He no longer cares about money or power. What's the point in getting a reward you don't want? Also, I doubt Atlantian currency is going to have any value on the surface.

@@arkhamjamesv My point is that he doesn't care about it because he's stupid. He was written poorly. His father would've died for nothing if Manta stopped caring about money and power. Pirates die all the time. Manta not being able to accept that proves that he should've never been a pirate in the first place. If all he cared about was his dad's life, he shouldn't have helped his dad be a pirate. Poor writing. Also, on what planet is power not currency? Ocean Master was going to conquer the world.

Thats the dumb part. If he could reverse Atlantean tech and convert 3 foot gun into a helmet laser then these idiots wasted their time. Cause it seems like all you need to make it work is the jewel/rock component to focus the inner, whatever component you use to covert water and well...water...which I'm guessing this idiot installed some heat pump to create water, the vent system sucks the water into suit, When needed the water goes over the converter and charges the jewel. But even then I still don't believe this guy who make this. THe Reason Black Manta worked is because he was Atlantean. The funny thing is this guy failed. HARD. Giving him a bigger gun won't stop Superman lite

I know this film was a bit simple, but I love how they made black manta is familiar with machinery and isn't afraid to adopt foreign technology, not to mention he and the antagonist team up perfectly shame he didn't get a lot of time to shine, his troops were kind of a pushover and more as a special effect, and he himself only saw minimal action as they had to rush to complete the story

gotta give manta props for being able to basically reverse engineer the rifle and incorporate it into his new suit and helmet.

Like how that one soldier is "Here ill help with this cool sea shell i have!"

I honestly had no idea who black manta was before I saw this movie and I used to alot of DC comic books when I was a kid but was never big into aquaman but after seeing this black manta is honestly one of my favorite super villains and the actor that played him did an amazing job he honestly reminded me alot of willem dafoes green goblin

I love this scene so much cause I love the making of black manta's suit. Black manta is my favorite dc villain

Black Manta was one of the best parts of this movie. From his backstory, his tech, and motivations, he is the ultimate Aquaman villain

The after credits scene specifically shows us that he's alive and still wants aquaman dead, so it's safe to say that yes, in the aquaman sequel he will be the main antagonist, or at least he'll reappear
