I feel Double Black is the better version...in my city I purchase that bottle around 5500....In john walker series of whiskey Pehle walla Gold label aaur Green Label were best...abhi I tried Gold not upto mark..Green label US sae dost bheja tha not same as the one b4....Now I like Indri singel malt....blended I like double black and Dewar 12 years double aged...

Recently I bought a glenfiddich 12 from GTown, it was quite bitter and had strong alcohol odour felt like i was having some cheap whisky. Yet the same whiskey was quite wonderful, offered by my in laws, who bought it from the US. Rampant Fake whiskies are definitely discouraging, I think it's not worth buying from India anymore especially if you want a good whisky. Heck even Kingfisher beer has become very consistent with qually and at par with any foreign brand, designed for indian palate. Not only that as faking beer does produces very low margins for the swindlers . All these reasons especially inconsistencies have made me switch to beer most of the time.

Also just an advise , when tasting whiskey try to use a Glencairn glass, it’s designed for the purpose of tasting spirits, gives a better nose which makes it easier to get the proper notes and also elevates the whole tasting experience.

Agree with you brother. I had Indri from gtown and Maharashtra. And yes the gtown wali at3100/- was diluted salty and certainly not the indri you’ll get in Maharashtra at 5400/-

Check if they are bottled at the same location as base distilled water used in different locations also results in mild difference in the taste.

Well being a professional working in the industry I can say for sure that the price difference is just for the different excise policy in the two different areas. Gurgaon even though in NCR falls under the state of Haryana, so taxes are a little less compared to Delhi. Also in Gurgaon MSP ( Minimum Selling Price ) is a thing because of huge competition. I have seen prices rise and fall within a week. Now as per authenticity is concerned DIAGEO makes the blend in Scotland so plz get away with this idea of Gurgaon liquor being fake. Now the most important part that is packaging, so these brands keep changing their labels now and then, but since these retailers hoard huge inventories it’s pretty normal to have different looking bottles of the same spirit at two different locations even in the same city.

Ive felt the same with Ballantines 12 and Chivas 12. Tho i almost exclusively buy from Delhi duty free (i travel a lot for work) My experience is that ggn ones are not bad and one can buy those when one has company and needs to open 2-3 bottles of decent liquor. HOWEVER if you want to enjoy a drink by yourself at home, i'd recommend the one from duty free. Personal favorites are Glenlivet 18 and also 15. 21 is a bit expensive 😅

Instead of the Glenlivet 15 try the Dalwhinnie 15 its an awesome single malt and it retails for arnd 3800 in Gurgaon.

Well let me share my experience with Diageo Black Label We have been avid drinker of Black label since long. Recently we bought a bottle from Chandigarh and found that to be fake, we immediately compared that one with the one we had in our stock and we knew was genuine, and we easily recognised that the recently bought was fake, we then complained to the liqour shop. Then we complained to Diageo. Diageo official collected the sample . And after extensive follow up they agreed that was fake but was not ready to give it in writing and exchanged us with a genuine one. They openly told us that there are lots of fake as the demand is very high and supply is less and retailers do all kind of stuff to not let go of the demand. There is big nexus of the liqour distributors manufacturers retailers which they told. Everyone knows everything here. But everyone in numb on this fact.

Spirit ka Difference has bas I have Tried whiskey from Different States but I don’t like Gurgaon Liquor because all Taste Same. Delhi wali Daaru Moj wali hai But if you want to see the real Difference try UP wali Daaru or Kolkata wali of same Brand you will get high after 3 peg.

Standard duty free Black Label is 40% while there Indian bottles are 44%. Maybe there is a difference there. However, Gurgaon is definitely suspect.

Trachers highland or black label which is the winner?

I don't think IFL (Indian Foreign Liquor) should have any considerable difference since it's bottled from country of origin, i.e. Scotland for JW. There is a significant difference across states in IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor). Case in point, Teachers, Black and White, Black Dog. Gurgaon IMFL seems very diluted to me.
