    taskmaster65 Exactly. And with 4 brand new band members who've never played a note with TBC prior to a couple of months ago. And they call it a "reunion". And the only reason they're doing this now is b/c both of their other bands crapped out. CRB imploded and Magpie Salute was playing to about 80 people a night in clubs in 2018. Left them with no other option but to get back together and call it The Black Crowes.

    And no MFF. This is just beyond sad and grotesque. Buy Gormans book, put on a show from 97 Europe tour and flip these two the bird. I would, however, pay out hardcore for a proper box set (ala the recent Ronnie Lane one). Not holding my breath though. Sucks when something you love dearly takes a dump all over you. Eff the brothers Robinson.

    It’s cool they are back talking to each other, there is much we won’t be told, loved the band big time when they were originally working, is focussing on the first album and not for instance writing a new one the right way forward...Well, that’s what we have got and it’s a start.. There are some legendary tunes in their repertoire.

    @IvanLendl87

    In the book he claims that Rich declined Page's offer to co-write songs and as such Page got pissed and left the tour prematurely. The problem with that is that there are numerous photos of Page backstage hugging and smiling with Rich at Crowes' shows beginning shortly after that Page/Crowes tour and continuing for years afterwards. And there are quotes from both Page and Rich after that tour (in Guitar Player Magazine) and they were praising each other. The only criticism Rich had of Page (again in Guitar Player Magazine) was that Page was barely playing on the Crowes songs during that tour. (Rich actually laughed about this though.) And that's a fact b/c I saw a few of those shows and Page sometimes didn't play a note during Crowes songs. It also doesn't make sense b/c Page has shown no inclination to write even a single song since Walking Into Clarksdale released in 1998. Page has denied Gorman's claims and so has Rich. Gorman has rightfully been pissed at Chris ever since Chris wanted to turn him into a salaried employee of TBC in 2013. Btw Rich was the person who defended Gorman's membership in TBC to Chris in 2013. And Rich asked Gorman to be in The Magpie Salute in 2016. Gorman declined b/c he didn't want to go out on long tours anymore (understandable). But Gorman let Rich use his radio tribute to Ed Harsch at the first Magpie Salute show in January 2017 in NYC. Gorman's problems with Rich came shortly thereafter when Gorman asked Rich to play at a charity show in Nashville in 2017. Rich accepted but then Rich cancelled at the very last minute. This apparently enraged Gorman. As such, Gorman is re-writing history w regard to Rich.

    @@IvanLendl87 Given the way the Black Crows got started, they never had to figure out how to "make it" - not like I know, but it's clear that the old school 'tour' is giving way to developing geographical bases and doing multi night gigs in those places. Bands like Tadeschi Trucks, Brandi Carlisle, or The Hold Steady have done it quite successfully. Rich tried to launch TMS but had no geographic base that it came out of. Again, I'm no expert, but I don't think it works that way anymore, and Rich proved that you can't buy success with a couple of general tours (really only one). TMS's appreciation for rock with integrity, and their willingness to take musical risks live, I'd like to believe, would have gotten them somewhere, but nobody's in their 20s anymore, and you can't build that and be a dad too. Again, that's why the approach where bands build up geographic bases is better for everyone fans and musicians.

I dig some of his solo material but at the end of the day he’s not really much of a singer or frontman so his solo career hasn’t had much commercial success even at the club level. And TBC has never had a lead guitarist as great as him since. He’s the lead guitarist on their best 3 albums - SH&MC, Amorica and TS&OC. No other lead guitarist can match his playing on those albums.

    INTERFERENCE Band It was pretty apparent that Chris was always a total dick. I read the book and enjoyed it but I also take it with a grain of salt. Why? Because you're only getting Steve's version of the story. I've been hardcore into TBC since SYMM was released. I've known a couple of people who worked tours for TBC. They always said Gorman was as much of a dick as Chris. They also said Gorman & Chris treated Rich like shit b/c Rich never participated in the booze & weed thing with everybody else. I also recall TBC's manager, Pete Angelus, stating on VH-1 that Steve Gorman was really a "Robinson" in every way but the name. But Gorman doesn't point the finger at himself in that book. After TBC broke up in 2013, Gorman publicly aligned himself with Rich. And they were on good terms. Proof of that is when Rich started up The Magpie Salute he asked Gorman to be the drummer. Things got cross-ways b/w them when Steve invited Rich (and Sven Pipien) to an event in Nashville and a Rich failed to show up. Gorman was furious that Rich didn't show or call. So then he wrote the book.

    I hope they are guaranteeing refunds to those who already bought tickets for next year for when they kill each other and blow the whole thing up before then like they always do. I LOVE these guys live as much as ANYBODY except maybe Tom Petty and Heart Breakers. When they are really into it, seeing them live is MAGIC!! The only problem is the repeating history of it turning into a nightmare of hatred between them at the drop of a hat. I hope as much as anyone that they can at least hold it together long enough for one more round of concerts, but you'd be crazy to not have at least a little doubt in their ability to not end up wanting to kill each other again before it ever happens. Some would say it's so Rock N Roll to have creative infighting. Maybe so, but it SUCKS if you are a fan, and these guys have broken a lot of hearts with their fighting. Best of luck to them going forward, but I'm not buying a ticket till the night of the show LOL. If it's sold out, oh well, I catch the them on the next tour .
