X were just so different than anything at that time. Manzarek did play on some Echo and the Bunnymen songs, and at the time we thought he might have had something to do with the production of those songs.
I know serious Ultravox fans liked the group more pre-Midge, butI really enjoyed Ultravox more with him. I loved John Foxx's solo stuff though.

John looses weight and his whole stand-up goes down the tubes. 😁 This interview was just before he died. He died at 50yo. Cause of death was pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lungs by a substance that has moved from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream. I wonder if the weight loss had anything to do with it? RIP John
