For real! The first thing I thought about when I saw the Black Adam trailer was how Hawkman’s connection to Black Adam would be since they have so much in common. It baffles me that none of it was explored

I mean how long did y'all want the movie , shits crazy lol I was a great movie for an INTRODUCTION OF BLACK ADAM!

I honestly enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would! This movie feels like it should have come out in the summer because has that level of fun and gravitas to it. The Rock did a great job as Black Adam and it was wonderful to see Henry back at the end.

As a primary marvel fan, I LOVED IT. Unfortunately, me and my sister were pissed when Dr. Fate got killed cause he was our favorite lol. Love the action. 10/10

Do you guys remember back in the day. Gavin O’Connor was going to direct a Suicide Squad sequel, the thrust of the story was going to be The Squad attempting to prevent the awakening of Black Adam because of this “explosion” mechanic used in this film. Soon as Grace started going into it I remembered it. Hard out here for a DC fan 😔

@@epicphail2926 in the review Grace mentioned that Adam gets so angry he loses control of his power like Soldier Boy ie he blows up. Unless I’m misremembering the thrust of Gavin O’Connor’s Suicide Squad film was that the team would be neutralizing a weapon that was described as being able to release energy on the level of a nuke. The weapon would be revealed to be Black Adam.

Dr Fate used the Ankh symbol spell twice, to lock Black Adam and then Sabbac, you have to pay close attention because it happens fast.

Its just poor execution and oversight from Dwayne and the others. It should clear, in other content Fate has appeared in, we have clearly seen the Arkh with his powers, why not in Black Adam. The whole movie is just lazy and it doesnt even try to stick to the source material and if you not gonna stick to it, the execution shouldnt be lazy. Watching this movie is wasting time your time.

He does use ankhs in a few of his spells, and it is still utilized in his costume, just not as blatant as the comic book character. It's in the symbols that pattern the blue section of his costume, and the gold armor on his chest is a toned down version of it.

When they put that diamond (triangle in this case) in the sky the first time I immediately thought "Roc boys in the building tonight" 😂

Just out of the movie, there were ankhs, one of them on the chest of the Dr.Fate, as well as the huge crystal ones he threw at Black Adam and the other guy, then they show up at Dr. Fate's projection when he talks to Black Adam both in prison, and in the first act. You probably missed it.

doctor fate actually used one ankh symbol in the JSA’s first fight with black adam. it was really easy to miss

I’m just glad that Hawkman and Doctor Fate looked cool. It would be nice to have a movie to explain them a little bit more, but I’m just taking what i can get from DC at this point.

I love this movie !! Many people in my theater in Texas love it. People yelling for those fight scene. I’m not dc fan but wow good time.

Dwayne Johnson has one of those weird Vin Diesel contracts where he can't lose a fight in a movie and it can only be so many punches,etc. I don't know how that's going to work in DC movies

My family and I enjoyed this movie and recommend it to others. It is full of action has a complet story and best it bring Superman and Black Adam finally face to face. Ignore the critics and have a fun exciting popcorn movie that will entertain you, laugh, and have some emotion.

Black Adam was great, I had a lot of fun watching it, the story wasn't that good but the action was awesome! Can't believe some people are 💩 on it, its a fun time.

Well. When the movies deviate from source material for no damn reason whatsoever. Yeah. It’s very disappointing. Does that mean we can’t enjoy the movie ? Of course not.

And yet, everyone forgets that this Teth-Adam is a grieving father and widower, never had the chance to actually grief before raging on the king and prisoned by the Wizards of Eternity. His modern in the comics is even more brutal than the one in this movie. Teth-Adam stole the power from his nephew he murdered, cracked his skull when he share the SHAZAM's power. You want that origin in the movie, Grace? And intergang and eternium? Maybe they are strong in Kahndaq, but maybe already contained by Amanda Waller everywhere after Steppenwolf is out of the picture, that's why they're trying to get Crown of Sabbac. And the movie is only two hours long, not enough to explain everything, but everything can be explained by easily created head canon. Also regarding Billy Batson: the timeline of this movie maybe before Shivana awakened the Sin.

Adrianna's power is not as a Shazam. It is if she had the Eternium for her necklace, then she would have her "Isis" power. Her son will become Osiris.

All my friends agree that Dr. Fate was awesome and saved the movie. They didn't know him very well, but for me, it was a dream come true. There are many ankhs in his magic, but they are subtle. One example is when he does his magic spike from above (on Black Adam, then Sabac)

I thought I saw Fate use his signature move during the early battle with Black Adam, in which he cast it from above towards Adam.

Thank you for your coverage. I hope Black Adam does well in the box office so we can have more movies with Henry Cavill as Superman.

Doctor Fate did do his symbol when capturing Black Adam and when facing Sabaac as well. Overall I think the movie was good. Could it have been better of course but overall I think it was a good introduction of Black Adam. To be fair there's been so many comic book movies out at this point that the redundancies between the companies is beginning to show so I wouldn't blame it on the movie.

Man. So disappointed hearing they didn't use the Egyptian ties of Dr. Fate and Hawkman. Why even put them there. It would have been nice if Nabu was the one to imprison Black Adam using his enforcer, Hawkman. Then it would have added dramatic tension to the action and added a layer to Dr. Fate's motivation of turning Black Adam into a hero, signifying Kent Nelson's conflict with the Lords of Order.

Yeah, the idea of "order/stability" bed self-determination hangs out in the background of the film but isn't really addressed

This was the best Superhero movie since Black Panther- stunning visuals, great music, good acting, and just enough plot and philosophy to justify all the rock smashing. Tell them the man in black sent you 🌩

Dr. Fate did use the acnh in the movie, like twice actually. But you'd only notice it if you recognized the move from the injustice games 👌🏾

Well my wife who watched a lot of dc animated movies and justice league series, she enjoyed the movie and laughing. For us both, we enjoyed it. Movies suppose to be entertainment not over analyzing everything about certain things.

Enjoyable for me. I'll admit I'm not as familiar with the comic character. Even watching this review before the movie still didn't hurt the enjoyment for me. Sad we don't get more Pierce Brosnan Doctor Fate, but overall enjoyable. And also Grace, several ankhs were used in Fate's costume. It was subtle in the gold armor on his chest, and it was one of the symbols that made up the patterning on the blue spandex.

Love the line at the end about Dwayne Johnson's comic book movie! HAHA!

Henry looks superb as Kal-El, I gotta admit I only watched Marvel Phases 1 & 2 and even some 3 films for mid-credits scenes.

I never once thought that the helmet would go to the son

I enjoyed Black Adam.I really enjoyed seeing Amanda Waller show up . . . . I will wait tille after Friday . . . . to ALL the Wally Ham,ada Fans, his name appears as a producer, but he WAS NOT at all a DC fan. Progress uses what's available and developing what exists he had too much control. Don't hate me grace I do love your reviews.

As always thanks for your coverage, Grace, really enjoyed it. But again I ask myself, why do they need to waste another villiain; reminds me of the really disappointing ending they gave Ares in WW 1. Same with Intergang. At least Pierce Brosnan & Viola Davis had enjoyable scenes; the costumes and VFX were actually good, not perfect but good. The JSA could easily had an own movie or a limited series; maybe would that have been better.

Yes this is a flawed movie but I enjoyed it so much more than many recent comic book movies that were actually flawed as well.. I think it’s very cool, a lot of fun and with all the negativity beforehand I was surprised how much I liked the story and everything!

You get the feeling the writers never even bothered to read the comics.

Seeing Superman at the end credits scene reminded me of the Venom 2 end credit scene teasing No Way Home multiverse... Cuz people seem more excited about the end credit scene rather than the movie

I kept thinking of T-2. The son bonding with him and teaching him catchphrases.

Just saw it and I liked it. Some flaws but a fun time at the theater and the Rock is really good. The Action scenes are off the chart. Can't wait form more from Black Adam!

Dr Fate uses the Ankh Symbol 4-5 times. When He's trapping Adam and Sabbac, those are both giant Ankh spears

Hold up that twist is not bad regarding his son. That actually opens up for different story telling in the future. Intergang not being some Metropolis gang who gets there hands on high tech and more is fine. I am good with that. DC and Marvel copy each other all the time. Also Marvel didn't come up and invent everything so its unfair to keep saying DC copies Marvel. Yeah Geoff Johns needs to go. He seems to only look out for his work that is adapted and more. I don't know how Geoff Johns is getting away with this. Great breakdown Grace. I definitely want to see this movie now.

I actually liked it I’m surprised. Took my nephews to see it was not expecting much. But came out like “ok this might be the second best super hero movie thus far 2022” maybe my low expectation helped. I was hoping it not to be like the latest Thor movie.

I thought it was top 10 DC film ever, and I’ve been here since the mid 80’s

When has Grace predicted something right? It’s been a while.

Good lord, everything that Grace complains about everyone else is raving about. I'm so excited to see this movie. I like Grace's reviews, but honestly I can say, she is not a comic movie reviewer. She always misses.

Grace, in this movie Khandaq was something of an early democracy before that first king conquered it. They said so in the (excessively long) prologue narration, lol. And early democracies, like Greece, weren't at all opposed to executions

You know what makes me sad more than a bad movie? A pile of missed opportunities.

Funny this was foreshadowed in Superpets where The Rock plays Krypto and in the post credits scene Superman greets Black Adam and Krypto tricks Anubis(?) Which is Black Adam's dog

I don't think it's bad idea to not talk about Hawkman and Dr.fate origin because it will be too much and messy if they add too much with limited screen time. I hope they can do Justice society Solo movie to explain more.

I'm not that up on the source material and didn't even think about the Dr. Fate helmet going to the son. Great idea and wish it would've been a post credit scene!

Honestly I don't care if they didn't show the JSA members origins stories. Not every character or group needs an origin story. Black Adam was dope.

Cavill back as Superman was totally worth the price of admission. And I thought this movie was good. It kept me entertained. Now give me Man of Steel 2!

Movie is much more interesting than I thought, going by the trailers. Superman appearance was exciting, but the son as the real hero was unexpected and thus exciting. The Rock somehow made his schtick work, which is kinda a super-power in itself. Looking forward to more of this.

I don't know why the rotten tomato score is so low to be honest. It might be some of the critics are active against the dc.

Despite the things youve mentioned and that i agree with, overall i enjoyed the movie.

I gotta be honest, this movie was great from beginning to end. I had a very good time. A very good time. Critics don't like that it wasn't super story based but here the story serves the action instead of the other way around and it was awesome. There can be different types of movies and still be good. This was good.

Grace, love your channel! I liked the movie a lot more than you did. But, that aside, My theater showed a Red band trailer before Black Adam and I had never seen that done before a PG movie. Was that a mistake on the theaters part?

I've had red band trailers play before a PG-13 movie. Forgot what movies though had the red band trailer. But one of the red band trailers I can remember was for a comedy zombie movie.

I was sad that the coolest character in the whole movie had to die. He had such a presence. Plus, Fate's powers are just cool

A funny moment in the film, for me...Adam tosses an Intergang guy into the sky. Dr Fate is miles away, but he, like, reaches Adam telepathically. Like Thor sending an image of himself to speak to Heimdall's son? So Fate is lecturing Adam on not killing people, when he asks, is that guy you caught still alive? The Intergang guy is just now crashing to the ground, a mile away. Adam turns back around to the Fate ghost and goes, "he didn't make it" 😂😂😂 They apparently had Michael Bay on the cameras 😂. That high adrenaline quick cutting, moving camera 😂

There were a couple unks His big blade he’d throw down as subtlety shaped like it and when he’d use some spells the symbol and other runes showed up

I'm typically more of an MCU fan, but this was actually one of my favorite DC films, and it wasn't opening weekend! The fight scenes alone made me want to go home and play Injustice 2 again immediately! LOL

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I haven't read the comics though so I can understand if it changed the character how that could be frustrating.

Movie was sooo good but when fate dies mood was instantly KILLED!

This version of black Adam is basically Arnold's Terminator from T2 as Black Adam

It was nice to finally get someone with an actual helmet again with Fate. Now everyone’s got those nanotech helmets that just appear out of no where

If the running time of this film is 2.5 hours, it will make the storytelling of this film just right. The decision to stay at Khandaq was understandable. This film is indeed a pilot of the DC Universe. The appearance of the Hawkman logo/ JSA makes childhood memories appear. The story itself made me forget to wait for a superman cameo at the end. And for the DCEU hardcore Black Adam film deserves high appreciation. Lastly, for Superman's return is like a resurrected hope.

I actually liked the movie. So did mostly everyone in my packed Thursday night theater. People laughed and clapped. A lot of people were shocked at the mid credit scene. Goes to show not everyone is on twitter or Reddit looking for spoilers.

Dc fans we need to support this film! The movie is a good time with nonstop action!

The problem here is, Black Adam is not a rip-off of other movies rather everything cool has already been done by other movies and Black Adam just followed suit. The Batman had the car chase in the rain scene, the wing suit scene but what else can be done in a movie... The only way to enjoy such fictional movies now is to forget other movies that came before and watch with a blank slated mind. The market is too saturated now.

Just watched the movie 🎬 and it was fun and fast paced. Even with some slow scenes it still seemed fast, maybe it was the music 🎶. I enjoyed hawkman and Dr. Fate very much. I don't know why I was getting Thundercats vibes from hawkman symbols in the jet 😁,. It was really good to see Henry cavill as superman though. The movie was okay, but not the best.
