I'm a 47 years old Syrian refugee. I was told since childhood that men should never cry. Yet this song gives me a warm chill and shed my tears like a child! I heard it first time in a pub. I was still learning Dutch and someone helped me understanding its lyrics. Ever since it wakes up the loving teenager inside me; a teenager I thought had died eons ago. It gives me a break of my depression and loneliness and it reminds me that the war I survived didn't turn me into a stone. Thank you, BLØF!

Ben als Belgische naar Zoutelande geweest n.a.v. dit lied . En ik moet zeggen : Ik was blij dat ik hier was .

I have to write this here because i cannot tell anyone directly about it: I am studying chemistry right now and this year I was sent from Germany to Amsterdam for an internship. In these three months I learned so much about myself and got to know amazing people. My whole life changed into infinite possibilities for the future and I feel like my value as son, boyfriend, friend, brother and human has increased dramatically. This song accompanied me for this time and I still come back to it on a daily basis to reminice the time I spent in the Netherlands. A few months later, i got the invitation to do my PHD in Amsterdam accompanied by my father finally telling me he is infinitely proud of me. No one will read this, but I wanted to put this out there. Take all the chances you are presented by life and believe every damn dream you have, no matter how unrealistic it may sound to yourself. Amazing things can happen just because you said yes. I thank everyone for reading this much (if anyone does so)

​@@gregoryd5105dat is inderdaad waar ik vind wel dat het accent van Geike gekuist is. Het klinkt niet zwaar West-Vlaams, net zoals de Nederlandse man die ook geen zwaar Nederlands accent heeft. Trouwens een typisch Nederlands accent bestaat ook niet iemand uit Rotterdam klinkt anders dan Amsterdam.

Ik mag al bijna 50 jaar in dit prachtige land leven. En daar komen nog minimaal 150 jaar bij. Dat beloof ik je. Dit is het Nederland wat in mijn hart zit.

Ik kom uit Vlissingen, vlakbij Zoutelande. Dit is mijn jeugd en gecombineerd met de mooie plaatjes, de melancholie van de tekst en de prachtige Vlaamse tongval (mijn moeder is Zeeuws-Vlaams) van Geike: traantje weggepinkt

So 'n mooi liedjie! Ek praat Afrikaans, en verstaan nie Nederlands so 100% nie, maar dis mooi!

This Canadian with a tiny little German gets chills and loves this. I swear even without speaking the language you can almost hear and know what they’re singing. I did look up the translated lyrics once and felt a huge smile to read words I had been hearing and almost knowing for a while. Confirming just how much I love this song. I’d go for some herbs over the bottle but the little getaway sounds heavenly.

Ongeveer rond 1994/1996 was Pascal Jacobsen stagair bij mijn voormalig kindertehuis Klarenbeek B te Middelburg. Hij was toen bezig met zijn opleiding SPW (Sociaal Pedagogisch Werker) welke hij eerst wilde afmaken voordat hij aan zijn muzikale carrière begon. Bløf was toen in die periode al vrij bekend in Zeeland). Hij wist toen nog niet of het mogelijk was om te kunnen leven van muziek. Om nog even terug te keren naar Klarenbeek B en Zoutelande...Vanuit het kindertehuis hadden we een zomerhuisje genaamd Zonneville in Zoutelande. Geregeld waren we te vinden op het strand ook met Pascal. Ik wil hierbij Pascal Jacobsen dan ook bedanken voor deze goede herinneringen uit die periode. Je hebt het trouwens ver geschopt man. Diep respect. Het nummer Zoutelande klinkt lekker in het gehoor. Ik ben niet snel fan van een artiest of band. Maar Bløf heeft toch wel een plekje in mijn hart veroverd. Sittard is not in holland, just a little fyi, neither are either of the singers, holland is not the same as netherlands

Geweldig nummer, wat een heerlijke flow. Ook de stem van Geike is erg sfeervol en draagt bij aan het bijzondere geluid. Mooie productie ook qua geluid in het hedendaagse loudness geweld.

@Robert helemaal eens het nummer wordt ook wel zonder Geike gespeeld maar dan mis je haar stem toch. Ben al fan van Geike sinds haar Hooverphonic tijd, Zoutelande is oorspronkelijk een Duits liedje dan heet het Frankfurt Oder van Bosse met Anna Loos dat is ook een mooi nummer. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5tnpcaimq3LYpc.html

Inderdaad fijn om weer eens een beetje dynamiek in een nummer te horen, al ben ik bang dat hier ook wel een dikke bak compressie op zit.

Luisterend vanuit Australië toch mis ik Nederland dan wel een beetje 😢...maar geike blijf nederland/vlaams talig zingen dat brengt de beste en zwoelste stem bij je naar boven 💙
