Jose Aldo was such an accomplished fighter, that the UFC just crowned him UFC Featherweight Champion instead of having him fight for a title like they did with Rousey & Cruz. Aldo was truly special.

@@Brandon-up7sg Cruz was also a WEC Champ & Rousey was the Strikeforce Champ. Of the 3 Aldo was tho only one who was brought in as Champ. The other two fought against someone else to claim a vacant UFC Title. For Aldo they just straight up declared him the UFC Featherweight Champion. He still holds the record for UFC Featherweight Title Defenses, so I think they made the right call.

Poatan was 371 days. He had a short run in terms of fights but in terms of time it was (funny enough) not that short.

Most of them were elite specialists in something. Brock, Holly were inexperienced in MMA but high level champions in their own combat sports. Joanna, Spider, were some of the best strikers the sport has ever seen and you could see that immediately. Rampage, he had a rivalry w Chuck. Poatan, he had a rivalry like Rampage and that fast trackable elite skill. Hes all of this. Erceg isn't any of this. He's good but just right place, right time. Him winning would still feel a bit different however I don't think his title shot is terribly unjustified or anything.

Mike you da man, but sorry to tell ya Brock didn't lose his title on the UFC's FOX debut that was a year later when Cain lost to JDS in his first title defense

He should do a list of luckiest title shots so he could put himself in the top 5 with Eddie Alvarez. Bisping didn't deserve that rematch with Rockhold and Rockhold was a moron for excepting the fight if you ask me. Nothing to gain, everything to risk. Would GsP have taken that fight? Or Jon Jones? When they tried to bait and switch Hendo for Sonnen, Jones said "hell no" and UFC 151 was cancelled!! That was the smart move though. Years later Jones easily beat Sonnen but he had time to prepare. GsP doesn't take fights with no upside. He took the Bisping fight for a chance to become a 2 division Champ Champ. That's how you do it.

Topuria trying to be like McGregor. He’s one of my favourite fighters. But you know the old saying in order to be the best, you have to beat the best…. Topuria was the only contender to skip the line and not have to beat any top 5 competition to get a shot at Volk. The UFC just got tired of having Holloway smash every dude they were trying to build… so they finally gave somebody a free pass. Topuria shouldn’t complain about fighting any of older/estsblished stars fighters ( likw you make ppv points being a champ, so the bigger the name, the more money you make) and like Cormier said about Islam, it only makes your star brighter. It’s not rocket science . Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Volk deserves the rematch, no question, then Holloway.. and after that he should take out Ortega/ Rodriguez before the next gen guys. It’s all about the names on the resume. Thats why Jones is the goat. His kill list is unmatched!

Conor had 6 fights before he got a shot at undisputed , really isn’t some face tracking that people pretend it was . Especially when aldo got hurt and Conor saved the card by agreeing to fight mendes for the interim belt 3 weeks out ...and then still turning around in 3 months to fight aldo for undisputed . Don’t think people understand dj was like 4 or 5 pound for pound he was nowhere near the top aldo had been number one on the pound for pound list for over 3 years straight he was the universally regarded number one pound for pound fighter in the sport .

Are you kidding me? How did Alex Pereira not make this list, he was literally given title shots like candy. Dislike.

Using the females is unfair. Most of their divisions are so pathetic (in terms of depth) that they get title shots 3 fights in. Compare that to Tony Ferguson who should have held and lost the belt in the time he was waiting for a title shot; Or Whittaker going through murderer's row and losing his chin to Yoel just for an interim. Joanna fought one nobody, Claudia, and then a mediocre Carla Esparza. On top of that she was a natural featherweight, weight bullying at strawweight so that she could avoid Valentina (who beat her 3x in a row in kickboxing before the UFC ever was). (Yes, I get that this is 5 fastest).

She beat a few cans in Lima and Gadelha and then beat "the cookie monster" (one of the worst UFC champions of all time) for the belt. Not to mention she was an early adopter of being a "weight bully". If she fought in her own weight class she would have had to fight Valentina Shevchenko, who she already lost to three times in a row. Compare that to someone like Tony Ferguson who was destroying everyone for almost a decade before he even got a shot at the title.

They were all special except Brock. Brock was just an extremely large man with a wrestling pedigree. I don’t consider him a special mixed martial artist like the rest

And if you watched it properly Bisping was concerned about Anderson Silva dropping his mouthpiece, he's sportsman like, but Anderson took advantage of that, and hit him with a knee, talk about gratitude.

@@JeromeLee-wf8ws Okay, you maybe right about the mouthpiece, but Anderson should have the courtesy to let Bisping put on his mouthguard, ref should've timed out for a bit, but Anderson hit him with a cheapshot knee, Bisping was not out, and the bell rang. So why couldn't Anderson finish Bisping in the succeeding round so as not leaving it to the judges? Bisping landed quite a number on Anderson. You should rewatch round 2 of this fight before you say judges gifted Bisping the win. Look at Anderson's face when he was stunned by Bisping, he looked like the guy who underestimated his opponents playing games and Weidman touched his chin. Oh that's Anderson. And that idiot Joe Harding, dancing and francing in the ring, till he got kicked on the face. MVP is somewhat the reincarnation of Joe Harding, full of idiotic showboating.
