spider: *ho ho your approaching me instead of running away your running towards me?* spider: *SHINEA*
Bird said "What are you doing step spider?"
Awesome compilation! Thank you for sharing!
The millipede isn't taking a ride or making a double-decker bus, the one on top is a male and he's moving forward to grab the female's head with his mandibles so that she doesn't shake him off as he, as you've seen, is smaller. Once the female stops moving, he retreats a bit, lines himself up to her parts and mates with her.
I can't believe they didn't help that bird out of the spiders web. The bird is 15 times bigger than the spider, and it will never be able to eat all of it.

You can’t believe nature? Interesting.
You can tell when a female has mated,” she said. “The male will just ride on her back for days.” This practice, called guarding, allows the male to make sure the female uses his sperm to fertilize her eggs. The going was slow Saturday morning as Duffield waited for the millipedes to mate.

Who else was waiting for the Spider to Attack the Bird that was caught on the Wed??😅🤦🏾♂️ but the spider never did
@bobjacobson858
3 жыл бұрын
The spider may have attacked the bird before the video, but if so the spider's venom may have been insufficient to subdue the bird completely. Another possibility is that the spider simply recognizes that the bird is too large a prey item, and will either ignore it or deliberately release it from the web (which has been demonstrated to happen, as shown on at least one other video I saw some time ago). A spider doesn't "want" to have anything in the web that will destroy the web without providing usable food.
@recipoldinasty

@@bobjacobson858 these soiders can eat the bird and thats a fact, orb webs do eat larger bieds than them, making their interiors become juice eatable, also when a prey is caught in a web, they do not necessarily attack it right away, it could take then days to eat it she might be full
@bobjacobson858
3 жыл бұрын
@@recipoldinasty Thanks! I recall seeing a photo in which a mouse had been caught in the web of a black widow, and the former was dead. However, at what point does decay become an issue with an oversized prey? It's obvious that if the prey is an order of magnitude larger than the spider, the latter obviously can't ingest all of the liquified matter from the former. Is the spider's venom even sufficient to liquify a vertebrate-sized prey item, or does a small volume get liquified such that the spider ingests this, and foregoes the rest? Does the spider take in as much as it can, and then "dump" the prey after it becomes putrid? There is a video in which a very large tarantula catches a mouse, but the two are roughly the same size so the spider fed on it for nearly a whole day. In any case, I've never witnesses a spider's having caught such an "oversized" prey item, so I'm curious as to what happens. FWIW I work with wasps, and for a while I had a few black widows, and after spiderlings emerged from an egg mass, I put in a live wasp larva, and the spiderlings gathered around it to feed!
that is a way bigger bird than I expected
